On the other hand, if you compare MLS to the modern Premier League: -Since its founding in 1992, the modern Premier League has had just 7 teams win its championship. By comparison, since its founding in 1996, MLS has had 15 different teams win MLS cup. - In Premier League the competition is often over weeks before the end of the season. MLS awards the Supporters' Shield to the team with the most points during the regular season, but entry into MLS cup playoffs is also available to numerous teams, giving fans of most clubs a realistic hope of seeing their team win. Sometimes the best team wins, as this year (I say to my chagrin as a Nashville fan), sometimes not. But the excitement doesn't end long before the season does. Just intensifies. We'll keep the playoffs.
@@richardg.m.8260 Every big North American sports league works like that. We're very used to it here. Relegation is great and all. But the issue with it is the negative effects it can have on an entire franchise if they have a bad year.
