You don't need to have too many jumps for 5 block jump, just 2 blocks of acceleration area is enough to do that, but as for the 6 block jump, it's only possible with speed effect, elytra, jump boost, ice or fire ticks, you can't jump naked for 6 blocks.

The snow layers are some of the most precise blocks in minecraft to change your height with. The more you jump in minecraft, the faster you go. The snow layers raise the height you land on and allow you to jump again sooner in order to gain more momentum to complete the jump, so you are correct though about the second part. Besides, this video is stupid and outdated, especially considering without any tricks except a setup, a four jump momentum 5 block jump has been verified with two 45 strafes.

Ok everyone knows you can jump 5 blocks, and its also near impossible to get 6 blocks as people calculated the maximum momentum of a minecraft character. You would have to jump millions of blocks continously to gain the momentum.
I hate games with momentum I should be able to hit max speed from a stopped position instantly and get a speed boost from jumping
