As a former trumpet player, I realllly want to claim Hu Tao as a trumpet 😭she's the goofy one who for once doesn't actually think she's better than everyone else, is still chill but also VERY loud. And Childe is def the senior section leader who has a silver trumpet and a C trumpet and brings both to school. He also has a mini trombone that he flexes to everyone bc he can.
Can confirm trumpet players are goofy like hu Tao. I was on colourguard and well.. my twin is a trumpet. The trumpets converted me into an honorary member quickly.
As another trumpet player, I AGREE! I also feel like Amber COULD be a trumpet if she wasn’t a drum major. Also I feel like Lynette has MASSIVE saxophone energy, playing Careless Whisper or something. Lyney could also be a trumpeter ❤

Genshin characters as band kids seems to be an interesting idea,thus brought me to this.
It's also because I used to be a band kid for a year. The band I played in was much smaller than the ones both of you mentioned (10-20 people). I played the saxophone (Alto).
I am loving the trumpet slander from Christian.
I used to be in a band where I played trombone, but I had to stop because of the events of 2020. I'm not in a band anymore but I still play it for fun every now and then, alongside guitar

I was a band kid back in the day (mellophone gang) so I've tried to think of what instrument everyone would play before, and I must say these choices are really close to what I had. It seems the vibes each section gives of are pretty universal lol
I was legit so happy there was so many mello/horn players since we only have 4 and I'm the only one in my year.
Ayee the mello/horn gang! the sections absolutely give off vibes, it's just that there are definitely different stereotypical views on French horns + we're kind of rare and underrated lol but I feel like most of us are pretty good, contradictory to what Christian said and the mellos are actually the goofiest section at my school but yeah, I really like the choices lol
my only gripe is that Hu Tao isn't a trumpet player because you know she's the kid that makes the whole section have to tone down the big hit because she's that fucking loud.

Christian and I have been friends for over a year now so no nerves there at least!! I do get nervous around people I don’t know tho so I understand 😆

I have my first day of marching band camp this week, so this is very on time and makes my quite hyped!
Also, Nahida plays tuba and it's way to big for her. Nobody knows how she lugs it around with her, and she has no business being as good at it as she is.

As a band/marching band kid, I was so happy when you said Tighnari was an oboe player. You probably made him an oboe that plays clarinet for marching band, but I like to think of him as a fellow marching oboe :)

As a trumpet player, I'm so glad to know that you all think of my favorite character of all time, Childe, gives off major trumpet energy too lol. Sadly my marching band is very very small, and somehow I've ended up as the only trumpet for two years now, but I can just imagine the absolute power of a sound Childe and the other trumpets listed would make.

Listen as a former flute player, the politics surrounding who would play marching band piccolo was on a whole other level, because the band I was in would have SEPARATE auditions for marching piccolo. Normal seats be damned. Keqing, Eula, and Yae duking it out over that solo in Stars and Stripes is my personal hell.
I was always curious about that, we only ever had one piccolo player so I figured it was tough to get it!!!

I played trumpet in the marching band. I also kin Collei. So when you put her as a trumpet player right away, it made me unreasonably giddy.
As a senior trumpet, I can confirm we are a bunch of Childes because we come up with just about every other joke in the band and say the most diabolical things.
I'm a band kid aswell 😂 I'm a tenor and alto saxophone player as a first year marcher, but all I can say...Even I beg for contrabass (The brass one that looks like a tuba going on your shoulder). Marching band at my school is going to be a struggle

I'm an orchestra kid, but a huge fan of Band (concert and marching), and drum corps, I even follow DCI every year (and WGI too sometimes) and understand some inside reference jokes within band and Drum Corps world. This is honestly the most unexpected but fun genshin tier list I've ever seen, It's so enjoyable to watch and I giggle every now and then.
Personally, i would even give itto the flub drum LMAO, Beidou would be Contra/Tuba. Kinda surprised Keqing is in Snare, I thought she would be like in trumpet. NOW I WOULD LOVE TO SEE GENSHIN CHARACTERS IN TOP 12 DCI CORPS TIER LIST. I'll start, Childe would be in Bluecoats, he will be that 2016 trumpet soloist that winks at the camera

When it comes to Fontaine's characters, I have some ideas since I was in marching band (where my clarinet squad at)
Furina/Focalors - Trumpet for sure; she screams energy
Charlotte - I think she could be the missing Bass 1, since they carry the melodics of the bass drum line and she's always looking to prove herself at The Steambird
Lyney - Snare considering the snare folks are always doing tricks
Lynette - Colorguard (majorette); also known to do nice tricks
Freminet - Clarinet cause he's rather quiet (it's very hard to notice a clarinet in a big marching band)
Clorinde - Everything about her screams Honor Guard
Navia - Trumpet; she's loud and proud
Neuvilette - The band director; he's the serious one who maintains order
Sigewinne - Color guard; she cares about the band
Wriothesley - Tuba/Sousaphone; he's the warden of Fontaine's prison and he wants to maintain order, tubas give off dark vibes cause of their extremely bassy sound

NGL, the talk about the number of drum majors being proportional to the band size, made me laugh awkwardly. My band in HS was over 200 and we only ever had one DM. Although, since our mascot was Indians and we all wore headdresses (sans Pit, Tubas, and Color Guard), w/ the DM having the large “Chief” headdress, it kinda made sense. But boy did that put pressure on drumline as now the entire band relied heavily on them.😅
Also as a clarinet player, I like this WW section.

Played trombone in regular band and Jazz Band (my HS was far too small for a marching band lol) for many years so this tier list was so fun for me.
It's so neice but with the addition of the Fontaine characters I'd love to see your guy's take on tiering the characters for a jazz band/jazz band competition. There are a lot of characters now so you could do like one band per nation or just a general one like this.

love this lol, i played flute in band in freshman year but unbeknownst to me, i had cancerous tumors surrounding my lungs and was always behind in class LMAO i unintentionally trained my lungs to push tumours out of the way to breathe which did help in the long run! for that reason alone i wouldve loved baizhu on woodwind, but he's def a pit guy lol
