Had a smile on my face up to the point where Vijay messed up Ganga's name. It wasn't clear if he did it on purpose to get a few laughs from the girls or if he actually forgot the name. The scene confused me. If he did forget the name that is really illogical because he knew her name even when they were at logger heads.

Then her dialogue "palasa irundhalum sila vishyatha maraka mudiyadhu di" definitely felt like an indirect directed towards Vijay, which got her a verbal reaction from him "unga akka ku enna pathi sariya therila" adha solra po the look he was giving Kaveri clearly showed the anger he was feeling, and this anger was definitely not for bringing up his ex's name, this anger was because Kaveri hasn't still understood him.
In today's episode this is my favourite scene, because from Kaveri's expressions it was very clear she didn't mean the ice-cream, it was like she was waiting for an opportunity to bring up that name in a casual conversation to see his reaction, and grabbed it as soon as she found one, Potu vangura madhiri, she did it in Kodai too, "enna edhuku thedi vandheenga". After he told that the order was placed, Kaveri noticed his stoic expression and had a small smile, which just made it even more clearer that she brought up the name purposely.

So it could be either of these reasons or a mix of both in any ratio.
Speaking of their pasts, Kaveri has told Vijay MULTIPLE times that she has moved on from Nivin, in Kodai even in an inebriated state she clearly told Vijay that she has lost trust on Nivin and yet our boss had gone ahead and asked Nivin to wait, he let him know about the contract, given his word to Nivin that he will safely hand over Kaveri once the contract period is over. From Kaveri's side she couldn't have been more clear about her stand on Nivin.
Now, has Vijay, even once verbally expressed that he is over Vennila? That he has moved on? NO. Then how would Kaveri know?
He still has her picture in his cupboard, even Thaata had once told him, if he has moved on, he should get rid of the photo. Vijay gave a reason for it, he is keeping it as a reminder for himself. A very valid reason in my opinion, BUT Kaveri doesn't know that right?
After the AR engagement fiasco, I cannot and will not expect Kaveri to take cues from Vijay's actions. She has been burned not once, but multiple times by Vijay's words when she had dared to hope that his actions meant something more than just a platonic relationship, and his words during the engagement fight just made sure she seals her heart and hopes permanently.
Now she either out right ignores all the cues he is sending her way, or she isn't willing to let herself get swayed with them.
Yes, he has started being very expressive these days, openly tells her that he misses her when she isn't around, but he hasn't yet been vocal about him getting over and moving on from Vennila.
This isn't the first time she is bringing up Vennila's name, Even that day when he was all smiles, she asked him if was reminiscing about Vennila. So it is very clear, she thinks he hasn't moved on yet.
Now he has a chance, he should grab it with both hands. He got upset when she brought up the name, instead of just letting it slide with the indirect remark he made, he should confront her like she has done when ever he brought up Nivin's name.
"why do you keep bringing up Vennila? That is my past, I have moved on" idha avan kovathula kathi sonalum okay, calm and composed ah sonalum okay. But he needs to clear this up, the ball is in his court.
These small angst once in a while is totally necessary for an actual progression in their relationship. Lets see where this leads.
