"Things to know before you buy" from a five year I30N owner: annoying and expensive 10k km service intervals, in every situation way to high fuel consumption for the power output, pretty bad stereo with not much to improve besides an expensive processor and speaker upgrade, the brake discs rust faster than bottle caps and the cold start "behaviour" often imitates an starting diesel tractor. The stock turbo of the pre-facelift car had not much power reserves past 310 bhp. Prices gone way up lately, so the car isnt the bargain it was anymore. And at least the turning circle: i`ve seen buses with a better circle than the I30N. This was the bad, now to the good: Engaging and fun front driven car, maybe best in its class. Price is still somewhat affordable. Suspension is superb, Grip is excellent, Brakes are good, manual transmission is wonderful. The car still sounds phenomenal, even with GPF. Best four banger sound on the market imho. Everyday practicability is quite good, the car was a good companion in summer and winter. I liked the car very much... but i wasnt particularly sad when i had to sell it. It was good but not special enough for my taste. I liked the "under the radar" appearance though.
Exactly the same car but it's 10k miles in the UK instead of 6200miles it would be in Australia/NZ which is 10k km's weird that.
@@deathcrashtest64 thats how Asian car makers get their money. Low price for the car, ultra long warranty time and short service Intervals you have to attend... because you dont want to lose your warranty. But interesting that they have different milages on their intervals depending on which country you live in. Sounds like scam to me.
expensive service intervals ?? you get this car to service maximum 5K not 10K !!! you did not even change oil after first 1000 miles ??? because they did not tell you ? i change my oils in my local garage i will go just for check to Hyundai
@@nosutv2893 lol? is it a top fuel dragster? Not even on a GT-R or Lambo i would change the oil after 5k km. I am bound to my dealer within the guarantee time, i even cant change the oil somwhere else. I pay for the normal service around 500 EUR, this twice a year. The "big" service every 30k km costs around 1100 EUR, brakes not included. Its a rip-off. Asian manufacturers are there even worse than european manufacturers.

Eagle F1 Asy 6’s are as good or better than equivalent Michelin’s. Look into it more. Just stuck set on my M135i, they’re awesome. Goodyear’s always have been but Michelin have just been promoted far more in recent years, especially on CZcams 🙄
My experience is Michelin's wear better but that's it.
Definitely agree, I’m on my 2nd set of Eagle’s, previously using Pilot sports.
Love the extra rim protection too, and it gives the wheel a bit more of an aggressive look, IMO!
@@jackbarraclough4711 i was going to get goodyear's recently but couldn't source a pair, so had to get michelin's again.
You mentioned a hybrid turbo in either this video or the first video you did with this car - there is now a hybrid turbo in the UK, look up Courtenay Sport, they dropped a video on it 4 days ago. 466bhp monster!
I recently got a new i20N and I have to say I'm incredibly impressed with how far Hyundai has come, what a machine from an unexpected manufacturer!

I30N is a bargain!!! Here in Greece the Clubsport Gti , Cupra Leon , Focus ST , Cooper JCW , GR Yaris , Megane RS , Type R are way more expensive!!!!
I own a 2020 i30N Fastback and what I feel people should know is that fuel consumption is borderline extreme. But don't take my word for it. Watch the Misha Charoudin video where he takes it around the Nürburgring once and burns through a 1/4 tank (50 liter capacity) over 20 km.
i own 2023 i30 dct and fuel consumption is crazy(10-11l/100km). but i knew it before buying so i cant complain. car is a beast

@@hardscope7744 depends on your financial situation. that car really have extreme fuel consumption when u step on it. u can drive for 8,6 9, L/100km but who drive like that in i30n. last week i drove 14 km to work and had 17,6/100Km but i drove really fast in sport +. car is extreme fun to drive and for me its a dream car i wanted for 5 years and had opportunity to get it. definetly recommend the car

this carbon bits looks bulky you can't even see exhaust now... you buy i30N as complete car .........i just did downpipe haha fire from exhaust sometimes on stock :))) no gearbox recall for 23 eN's :)

I had an I30N and hate the wheel hop and fuel comsumption. But the sound, power, steering and gearbox was top notch. Having said that I move to GR86 cause RWD is more fun IMO😌
Yeah I got my new i20N a couple of weeks ago and I love it, but it's definitely weird having had RWD cars before it. Fuel consumption isn't too bad in the i20, certainly better than the 330e I had before it and similar to my MX-5.
What is the fuel consumption like? I get 33 mpg on my modified gti and around the same on my r! 🤔
@@TIM612826 around town in N mode I get about 33 as well, but on a motorway run I've had 46 in Eco mode. If I'm cruising at 65-70 I keep it in Eco.

Hey man they recall is only old engine 2.0 not this n performance nobody say nothing negative for engine or automatic transmission is the best and by own kia made self no like bmw.
The recall was on this car, I had it done ;)

@hardscope7744 not sure about 2023 models as they were released the same time the recall was. My advise would be to contact your local dealer to find out if it needs it or not
Party on the outside, grandmas handbag on the inside. Come on N range should at least have a over the top steering wheel and a few bits around the cabin
I had one of the first UK I30N cars and it didn't have the heated seats as it was an option not fitted to my ex demo car. Wheel hop was awful and embarrassing, the car just couldn't put the power down. I fitted Hyundai tyres as they were good in the dry but slippery in the wet until warmed up. 6th gear needed adjusting as when cold it was hard to engage which was a common problem on early cars. If I had kept the car I would have put coil overs and Michelin tyres on. I would also change the seats as they were very big and heavy. Luckily my car had the louder exhaust with no additional filter like the second generation cars. Servicing was OK but I always insisted on Shell Helix oil as most dealers do not use it even though it is recommended. Not using the manufacturer specified oil can cause excessive wear and sludging of the oil which can lead to oil starvation. The 250 bhp version might have been the better car.
Should have spent a few more quid and got the facelift!
People only put Michelins on because they're brand snobs. There are better tyres out there

All I know is the fan boys reach so hard claiming these are better than their competitors no matter what. Fact is, you pay for what you get.

Leon is way down on the food chain to even be slightly special... S3 > Golf R > Cupra. i30N much cooler and unique in my eyes!
