  • First supplied by Henlys Ltd, London to Mr Carpenter of Northolt, on the 6th June 1980, this wonderful MGB GT is finished her original Russet Brown, comes fitted with the venerable 1800cc 'B' series engine, mated to a 4 speed overdrive gearbox and benefits from having a full leather interior upgrade finished in black with red piping, black carpets and comes with a lovely history file that documents her previous keepers (4), original service wallet etc, a note book recording journeys over the years and raft of invoices for on going servicing.
Walking around the car, we're delighted to say that the bodywork remains in very good condition indeed, save for a few insignificant marks. The panel gaps are all excellent, the car maintaining all its original panels probably as a result of the Ziebart treated when new. The Russet Brown (paint code AAE) paint polishes beautifully to a deep shine and the lens / glass / chrome surrounds, rubbers, bumpers etc all remain in excellent condition too and with her 15" Minilite style wheels, with diamond cut edges, Goodyear tyres all round (2x new since images, so a matched set) this great looking MGB GT really stands out from the crowd.
The lovely quality feel extends to the interior too. Open the doors and you're meet with a smaller sports steering wheel, inertia-reel seatbelts, upgraded black leather seats in fantastic condition, perfect headlining and while the car didn't come with a radio when new, see the crested 'MG' blanking plate, the factory speakers are in place should a new owner which to fit a period / classic radio.
Mechanically the car is in first class order. Well maintained and used sparingly this 'B' GT drives very well indeed and sits sweetly on her lowered suspension. With just a small amount of 'choke' when cold the B series engine bursts into life with its characteristic gravely exhaust note and pulls cleanly through all the gears, including over-drive. One can't help but smile when taking her for a routine test-drive, she has light positive steering, brakes well, corners nice and flat, she's a lovely example of this venerable classic and ahead of her sale, she'll pass to our independent engineer for a 'Health Check', where we'll attend to service, pre-MOT items and naturally she'll come with 12 months MOT too
Universally available, but so often in poor states of repair or having been subject to 'patchwork' restorations finding a nice MGB GT isn't as straight forward as one might think. Well prepared and cherished, showing just 71k miles from new, this MGB GT is a lovely example, not an outright show car, these are £10k+, with prices increasingly still, but a fabulously maintained and well sorted example and we feel she offers an enthusiast a great way into classic MG ownership and one that can be potentially enjoyed on a daily basis too.
