Steven really is a good interviewer he changed the tone when she looked uncomfortable and by the end she was rattling along

Too much focus on William H. Macy + their relationship in the beginning... should have just talked about her + her series. That's kinda what she meant about disappearing after a marriage as well
But, don't these shows do "pre interviews" where the star knows what's being discussed?
Can’t say that this is exactly what happens on The Late Show, but (if you’re going to be on the show,) you’d normally go in for a pre-interview with segment producers where you’d go over stuff you might like/want to share.
Then they’d go over this with the host and they’d pick / decide on the best stuff / material to talk about on the day.
So I reckon the agenda’s (tightly?) outlined, but it’s not quite scripted, especially for hosts like Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, etc.

You guys don't understand Colorado born women. All are very very tough to get. Any native born woman over 35 can drink you under the table, smoke and drug and still talk with anyone without giving away their condition while you are passed out, are fit and strong inside and out, and don't take shit. Colorado women are tough to win. Why? We grew up in part city part rural America in an environment that has extreme weather and we got tough very quick naturally. Ask around, Colorado born women over 35 are a prize. They have excellent poker faces and are extremely loyal. They don't settle and they must must accomplish their goals. PS stop moving to Colorado everybody. We liked it like it was.
Huffman is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, and I've thought that for a while. I don't get how anyone could deny her.

I think she was referring mostly to her position in Hollywood.
But it's true, with child rearing and society not granting men paternity leave in most places in the world, women are usually the ones that disappear into their homes. Which is fine if you like that dynamic, the problem is that it's too often necessary or expected.

She is one of my favourite actresses. Highly underrated.

Apparently William H Macy somewhat knew she was up to something and strongly discouraged it. He thought his kids shouldn’t be faced with the pressure of being forced into college and should have time to figure everything out.

I find in "hollyw" That women become very visible and notable real stars, when they resist getting married for a while at least and do a major role(or four) where they get to strip an aesthetic for which they might be prominently known. example- Charlize Theron- Monster, Madmax -fury road. Or the polarization move, constantly concerned mob housewife to smartass drug addicted nurse - Edie Falco (unmarried) Id like to point out that Porsha de rossi's star dulled as time went on with her and Ellen being an item.
