Just in case : there is actually a mod that implements proper cults into the game, along with sacrifice and eldritch summoning.
There are youtubers doing whole series on this, making it a constant project with a interesting and funny story.

Yeti, cool and slightly deep voice with some calm gameplay and a funny joke here and there. He has a good bunch of series so I do recommend you check him out
Here's some tips
1. Cooks the human meat to make it more delicious
2. You can freeze or burn someone by only using the air-conditioning
3. Drugs is always a better way to give colonists a mood boost
4. Amputee the prisoner to prevent them from escaping. By using the health tab in the colonists.
5. Human body are weak, replace it with a robotic part if you get the chance
This somehow feels like the most morally dubious advice I've ever read. Which is very appropriate considering this is Kevin's channel.

combine tips 3 4 & 5, do a lot of drugs for mood/productivity, chop off legs in order to immobilize addicts through their withdrawal period, then pop some new legs on em.

This will seems weird but please don't read guides or tips (or just the in-game ones). Your colony feels much more alive than most of the other youtube videos because they always know the game and build the perfect base with perfect crew from the get-go while here anything can happen.
Agreed. I love Kevin's style that is completely unprepared. He just rolls with whatever comes up and keeps a great attitude.

Kevin says, right after leaving his components, medicine, and packaged survival meals exposed to the elements where they will deteriorate.

And for a newbie you did pretty good actually. Just a little advice:
Make separate rooms for everyone, it helps with their sanity because privacy reasons
As you noticed, eating other humans isn't pretty healthy unless the guy is a cannibal, i which case he would love it
The same for raw meat, craft a stove and make someone cook the meat and it will be much better.
And when you have prisoners, you can recruit them over time, and they will turn into another colonist, so i recommend not killing raiders completely, so you can capture them and have another helping hand in the colony!

Capture every person that comes to your colony and force them to wander around in their empty cells for eternity. (Until you decide to kill and cannibalise them).
Or, even better, build the jail cell next to that massive covered building at the top of the map, and break the wall between them, opening the building into the jail cell. You'll realise why this is great when you do it.

Oh yea I forgot you can harvest their organs. But for the sake of the most cruel end possible, I say we only take the organs that arent essential for survival.

Even better, remove their eyes, jaws, noses, ears, arms, and legs
But add peg legs

Hey Kevin there is a mod called ‘EDB prepare carefully’ if you use the mod you can change your colonists appearance and traits (such as cannibalism)

Tomatoffel, the red arrow on the AC indicates so it cools down the "fridge" room but it heats the other room, so the ACs must be installed one side to outside, not interior
well it is outside. There is no door blocking the "room" the hot air goes in to from the outside, so it is considered outside. Keven did everything right.

I like rimworld, I have played many hundreds of hours of rimworld, and oh my god it was sooo painful to watch but ngl you handled it pretty well for your first playthrough, on my run on the 5th day a herd of murderous rabbits swept across my map and the innocent me at the time thought "pfft these are just rabbits..." I have never regretted that decission more as seeing a pack of 15-20 rabbits butcher 6 colonists was terrifying... I love rimworld :D
Its pretty great I have to agree with you there. I love how many amazing the mod community is also.
I also had a similar experience with boars that came in a pack of 30 and destroyed my third colony back in Alpha 16.

Do you not treat you infection right? just make sure then get lots of rest in a "hospital" to get that 10% bonus to speed and make sure to treat it every day and it should be easy.
Zachattch I just want to amputate my prisoner's legs, but it always gets in their torso
just fucking treat their infections lol, you don't need to literally amputate everything. I treated an infection with no medkits with a 10 medication colonist and it was treated in two days.

You can train your animals,not all but let's say dogs (you have one) also you can make an Butcher table so you can make meat out of animals and food for animals
