  • Spain has been absolutely on fire in the 2024 Euro. The team to beat, no doubt about it. Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, Rodri and all the usual suspects have been putting in some serious performances.
Can they go all the way?

As someone who has supported Spain since I started watching football. I'm happy to see that people are finally recognising this new golden gen. Luis Enrique rejuvenated Spain after a rough 5 year period, now de la Fuente is building on that and with the help of many U-21 players he has coached since 2018. It's been a good past 5 years, WC aside. Finally, these last two years have been getting better and better with the NT.

Spaniard here. About the Morata thing I think it's all about the goals. He is known to fail in scoring very easy goals and right before the Euros started he has scored just 4 goals in his last 28 games which is not very good. When he announced that he was going to stay at atletico the most common reaction was to congratulate Atlético for throwing the league away before it started.
It doesn't have anything to do with him playing for both Real and Atlético most madridistas are in fact happy that they could sell him.
Anyway great video and I hope Spain can bring home the 4th.
Forgot to add that he is constantly in offside position which is very frustrating. You can't really give him the ball if the ref is going to rule offside. I think it was Rodri's goal against Georgia that people claimed it shouldn't have gone up because he was offside.

Sapniard here. The problem with Morata is that people don't understand the type of striker he is. He was never a 30-40 goals per season type of guy, but he works a lot without the ball. His role at Real Madrid was pretty good, he wasn't a starter but ended the season with 15-18 goals i think. But he wanted a more important role so he went to Atletico, but sadly Simeone playstyle is pretty defensive so strikers tend to have a hard time. But at the end, people love to critised and insult others, and like we say in Spain, envy is the national sport.

No rodri, no unai simon, no lamine, no fabian, no nico williams, no morata, no cucurella etc...
And was a friendly match... that type of matches are only used to try new tactics and players, there is no competitiveness in there for the big nations like spain.
And with that team they only manage to win 1-0.
And no misunderstand me, i think colombia have been great in this last year, they play good.
But, for me, it would be interesting how colombia would manage THIS spain, with rodri, carvajal, nico williams, lamine yamal, dani olmo, cucurella, fabian, laporte etc...
If they both win euro and copa america, it would be an interesting match in a hypotetical "finalissima" match.
      Like argentina vs italy.

As a spaniard Morata has gotten lots of undeserved hate as he has been the player that we have depended on to score for a long time now and has saved us many times but has also let us down many times missing crucial goals during the wc and last euros. The squad is the best it been for a decade with our wingers being some of our key factors that allow us too play direct. That being said we still play tiki taka although we are more focused now on creating chances, and don't let me get started on Dani Omlo pure magician hands down smartest player on the field. Dani olmo creates almost all of our chance and facilitates the ball in dangerous spaces beautifully. Tbh everyone on the squad this done their part this year but I wont to keep this short. Our problem with Morata is not that he is better or worse, even if I'm more inclined to agree with the latter.
Our problem is that he has been overhyped more times that I can count and he has moved several hundred millions euros in transfers when he is not good enough for that. And after having Villa and Torres for over a decade is difficult to accept that Morata is our best striker.

    • @jal051
      @jal051 Před 20 dny

Yeah. It all comes from him being from la Fábrica. As it usually happens the press overhyped him when he was playing in el Castilla and as usual he didn't live up to those expectations. He's now cursed with that until the end of his career. He's doing a good job in the Euro. It's true that, as the 9 he is, he should score more, but he works harder than anyone and is everywhere. But, of course, he isn't Villa.

Morata comes from a very wealthy family, he is handsome and was used to everything going well for him in life. At one point, he found himself as the forward for Real Madrid, but it turned out that he had Cristiano and Benzema ahead of him, and he couldn't handle it. He left, and since then, he has been resentful of everything. Moreover, he never managed to develop his potential, so he has become a meme, and, of course, he doesn't like it. When he's abroad, no one messes with him because, basically, they don't know him or care about him. He is unable to appreciate that in Spain there are still people who care enough to laugh at him.

I don't think De la Fuente tought these players anything. There's a big difference between a team's coach and a national team's coach.
A coach of a national team has no time to train or teach technical stuff. His/her greatest value lies in designing an apprlpriate tactical approach and in choosing the right players for tve task,, knowing full well that until you start winning people will put rgeir team's interest before the national team, like many Spanish fans supporting Croatia, because of Modric; then Germany bc of Kroos; then France/Mbappe, and finally England, bc they wanted Bellingham to win the Ballon.
Back to De la Fuente, his job consists in knowing all tge players in Spain, including young top quality players, and his many years working in the U 17, U 14 and Uxx gave him all the expertise he might ever need.
He is an excellent national-team manager.
