I've found the quickest way to set up the string sensitivity is to hand mute 5 strings on the 9th fret
and bang pluck the high E as loud as you possibly can yeah give it really hard pluck.
if any of the other muted string show any peaking reduce their sensitivity level
until there are no signs of those strings picking up the vibration from the very hard pluck
off of the first string after that just pluck and adjust the 1st string
you'll find very little or even no miss firing ghost notes... this works for the sy-1000 as well

I have a Godin nylons n string Multics....great guitar but I never really knew how to get rid ot tons of ghost notes, especially for pianos a vibes..things with sharp attack aspects.I just recently learned on a YT vid to adjust the Low Dynamics Velocity to help rid most of the ghost notes. But my strings sensitivity settings are much higher than yours. This is what’s recommended in the manual I believe and YT vids. I am going to try lower settings....thank you for a great vid.

did not hear back from you -read through the manual-all 96 pages -tried plugging in my gibson nighthawk with the gk-3 pickup -same problem - it would change banks up but not down -so obviously its something internal with the roland gr-55- did a factory reset on the gr-55 now both guitars work fine -now i get to go through the whole set up process again - for both guitars -learn how to back up presets this time around-still a mystery as to what i did to cause this scenario- i can see this is going to be a long slow learning process but the benefits will be pretty cool after i learn how to manipulate it and gain an understanding on how to get the sounds I want out of it-guess i will be eating this elephant one bite at a time- I will be checking out your tutorials on you tube- since you have a leg up by having used this setup for a couple of years-have a great week Kennis

thanks for the reply Russell -I really appreciate it . The switch in question is the switch on the godin xtsa that banks up and down the roland gr-55. I can set the gr-55 to the normal or reverse setting as described in your video-and in either mode it will bank up just fine-the bank changes and the display on the gr-55 changes perfect -the problem is when I toggle the switch the opposite way to bank down -using either one of the modes -normal or reverse -it changes my sound but not the bank or display on the gr-55- when i toggle the switch twice it goes back to the bank that was there before i even touched the switch- so toggle the switch once to bank down -change of sound -no display change on gr-55 -toggle the bank switch twice -goes back to same bank you were on before you opted to bank down- any help would surely be appreciated -thanks again for all your helpful videos -after playing for 45 years and sinking all the money into this gear- i am really looking forward to optimizing its potential-have a great praise and worship today -Many thanks -Kevin

Hello Kennis, I have had this pedal before and loved it. I sold it when I no longer needed it. I just purchased it again for a new project that I am starting. Is the latest firmware very good in correcting the ghost notes or do you still recommend getting the sub filter? Also, can you somehow use IR’s with any additional hardware? And finally, does the upgrade have anymore sounds ?
Thank you for making all of your helpful videos, I have been watching you for years and love it!
    My best,

Hi Kennis. I've searched in vain for a video demo on using the GR55 for the guitar effects only. I'm interested to hear the sounds rather than how to set the unit up. Can you (or anyone) help?
I currently use the GT100 but if I get the GR55 it would be good to not have to use both at gigs. So before experimenting with synth sounds I'd like to find out how good the straight effects are. Ie the normal guitar pickups through the GR55 effects in to an external amp. The COSM and synth experiments with the additional pickup can come later. Also, I'm assuming that you can take the synth sounds out separately to the PA?
    Thanks!

  • @TruthSurge

Not sure why there is no setting for PU distance from the bridge for the IN-BRIDGE systems like yours and like the Ghost system. ? The pu is actually THE BRIDGE so this 10 mm and 20 mm is incorrect for those in-bridge systems, yes? So.... I'm very confused at that but also why you chose 20 mm for yours when the pu is actually 0 mm from the bridge. I'm trying to set mine and the tracking honestly sucks. I play very cleanly but also like to do a lot of tapping, hammer-ons and even simple one-note lines are misfiring and playing wrong notes that I didn't even play and I went through all these settings and still the tracking is pretty much lame. I have the GraphTech system installed in my axe. :( Now, I noticed that using a piano sound never seems to track properly but other synth sounds do but why would the sound being spat out have anything to do with tracking? Anyway.. thanks for the vid!

I realize if I strike strings "hard", I get the high E string to ring. I'm guessing I have to possibly go to sensitivity setting? If I can find it. That's why I'm here watching this.

  • @Corey_G
    @Corey_G Před 8 lety

Velocity - is basically how hard or soft you have to pick to create a change of some sort.......
Example ..... With your Roland synth You could use the velocity to change between sounds ....pick light to get a clean tone, or pick hard to get a distorted sound..... or light picking could be a Bass synth and hard picking could trigger Horn sounds.
***So Basically you could control things by how hard or soft you play.
*** You could also set it to regulate picking.... In other words no matter how hard or soft you pick chords or notes the volume or dynamics of those only have one level of loudness.
I hope this makes sense and is helpful.

I watched the vid SPECIFICALLY to gain insight on what those functions do, and was left a bit pissed at the end for wasting my time. Thanks! ;)

Great setup vid Kennis :-) - I am interested in obtaining the OPT-01 subsonic filter board for my GR-55 since I too use a Godin (mine is a LGXT). When I first set it up I was appalled at the horrific response I got & almost took the guitar back until I found THIS www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=3912.0 which provided me with the parameters I am currently using on MY Godin with RMC pickups. :-)
