The Best Trainer Warbird We've Ever Flown - FMS Zero 1400mm

  • The FMS Zero 1400mm isn't the best trainer because it's super easy to assemble or even because it's marketed as a trainer. Because it isn't. But it's so easy to fly that even pilots without warbird experience should be able to pick it up with ease. Just ask our aeronautical engineer Ciaran who flew it on-camera with no prior warbird experience!

    This is the one plane that I've consistently wanted in my hangar since picking up the sticks less than a year ago. I desperately need an upgraded Tx'er with my current RC budget. So, i really hope FMS keeps this plane around for a bit longer. Like 6 or 8 pay periods. Lol.
    They really do make a damn fine RC plane.
    Thanks for keeping my RC hopes and dreams alive, showcasing all of these RC beauties 👍

    I love this plane, followed your advise and replaced the rudder servo to metalgear.
    I put another pivot into the inner hole of the rudder servo that improved ground handling a lot.
    Thanks❤

    Nice review of the FMS Zero 1400mm. I really like that you had Herron fly the plane as someone with no warbird experience I can see myself trying this plane. I like watching you wring out a plane but it doesn't always fit my flying style.

    I've been eyeing up this one for a while! After acquiring some FMS planes recently, I'm really impressed. I've just gotta get past my obsession with balsa 3d birds at the moment... * runs off to watch your 3d tutorials for the 5th time *

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Keep the downsides in mind. It's not a plane that you're going to want to take apart. If you can live with that or don't mind taking 7+ minutes to assemble it at the field, you'll be rewarded with a really docile trainer for warbirds. If you want to push it, you could modify it so that the battery sits under the canopy instead of in front of it.

    I really wish all manufacturers would impliment an easy on/off system for the wings. The new Freewing Cougar has a great set up, ribbon cable and clips for the wings.

    • @TwoBrosRC

      They've been trending that way recently, but the Zero is a pretty old model that hasn't been updated yet. It's worth dealing with for a beginner - the stability is unparalleled.
      Ribbon cable is pretty heavy though - we usually prefer models with straight servo connections over ribbons.

      We'd recommend going with the less expensive option if you can't afford $399.

    Was this one an SMC HV pack? Can only use SMC HV at max voltage if your esc can take HV, otherwise you lose 15% of stated capacity if you charge to 4.2v a cell. Says so on their website. CHNL is fine for all PNP applications.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 8 měsíci

      We got eight minute flights out of the SMC packs charged to 4.2v. There's no reason for us to buy additional batteries.

    Sad that RC flying is a dead hobby thanks to government regulators who work for corporations and not the taxpaying majority.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It's dying because of people with poor attitudes towards new technology and people, not because of government regulations.
