A scene from "All of Us Strangers" movie. Adam (Andrew Scott) visits his parents house and celebrates Christmas together. It is one of my fav scenes. Probably one of the best movie of the year 2023.
The lighting of this scene is so heartbreakingly accurate in its portrayal of a nostalgic childhood Christmas. I gasped when i saw it as it reminded me so strongly of Christmases at my grandparents. They had the same fairy lights and everything!
I always loved dancing to this song at clubs, but never really thought about the lyrics. Then when she started singing while staring at him, and I saw the lyrics... I started crying so hard in the theatre. Suddenly these lyrics made so much sense and were, by themselves, so incredibly moving that... maybe, just maybe... it was the reason I always loved dancing to this song. My favorite scene of the movie.
I watched the movie last night, and felt sad after it - My eyes teared up but I didn't cry. Today, the movie is haunting me and I just thought of this scene and started full on crying at home. Talk about a delayed reaction! 🤷♂ Very emotional movie
Another layer to this is Dad singing along enthusiastically to a very gay version of a song he probably knew via another earlier version. Making up for what he said about allowing his own son to suffer because he didn't know how to handle it.
This was quite arguably the most tender and powerful scene in the entire film. Amazing.
