Hello UK!!! 'Tis Saturday afternoon here in the US. Cleaning done! Laundry done! Craft supplies newly organized - done! Now on to crafting my little heart and fingers out! Oh dang Christine - per your announcement not to get old - well I've done that too! So happy to view your videos - they are real - funny (yup taught little ones too - at Tennessee School for the Deaf - which brought me to the grand career of being a Sign Language Interpreter) - whoops a bit of a bunny trail chat - but....to all who read this ....happy day, happy smiles, happy crafting, bring light and beauty into the world each day - for by golly the world truly needs both!

That's wonderful to hear, thank you. Sadly I think many kids are not actually taught how to use scissors properly and are left to just get on with it without being shown how to hold scissors properly either. It warmed my heart to read your comment. I wish your son much success! ♥️♥️♥️

😂Oh, how I Iove your story regarding teaching the 'little ones' how to use scissors. It wasn't until I was in my 60s and attended scrapbooking classes, I realised I too had missed out on being taught how to use scissors! A bit embarrassing but obviously, never too old to learn. 😊 'Fussy cutting', as we called it, is now one of my favourite methods of embellishing. Thankyou for your wonderful videos.

Hi there 🥰🦘🦘🦘I also have shiny calendar images which I can create faux cloisonne with! What a fabulous idea. I have been crafting for over 50 years and haven't learnt all the tricks & tweaks yet by any means. Wow! I just love this look. Beautiful & very effective on the black too. I agree, to adhere the backing piece of cardstock to the thin shiny paper if wanting to mount the fussy cut image on foam tape. TFS! Keep on being YOU, & I don't feel my age except when the weather changes!
Glad I found you, through my friend Pat from Wiltshire 🙏🥰💐

Firstly, I had never known of the cloisonné technique. It’s lovely and I’ll be trying it soon. Secondly, I would absolutely have bungled the pronunciation of the word cloisonné, and so you saying it a few times will help me not to appear the fool in front of my crafty friends. Wouldn't it work with gilding flakes as the background? I don't buy any glossy magazines these days, only cross word magazines and they're far from glossy. I also thought that you wouldn't have to heat emboss the stamp on the background paper and that a simple ink would work for placement unless you need some small golden (or metallic) details you can't cut out? Hopefully you understand my ramblings. 😇 Lovely result and technique! I will definitely try it! 💖👍

What an interesting technique.Would also work well with stamp and die sets..I am not a good fussy cutter 🤦‍♀️ thanks must try this out !

If you do the stamping and embossing underneath the cut out images, any imperfections made with your scissors would be compensated by the lower stamping/embossing! Dies always leave a border around their matching images.

Definitely going to use this technique. Can I use photo paper, ie old photos as they are shiny?

I believe they are Rubbernecker stamps, but they are very old and may no longer be available!

How did you do the butterfly with his feelers? They are so tiny!!

How beautiful! Could this technique be done with a stamp and die cut?

Martha, no reason that you couldn't do that. Chrissie has stamped, embossed and cut out, whether you use scissors or a die you would get the same effect.

I think the only difference with hand cutting and die cutting is that die cutting usually leaves a border around the edges of the image, whereas when cutting by hand you can cut right up to the edge of the image. It gives a different effect. Do try it and see how you feel about the look, who knows, you may prefer it. After all, art is a personal thing!
