It's NOT necessarily a bad thing to time the boot up at some delay. Depending on the power pull of your amps, it can help space out the surge on your power conditioner over a few seconds.

I love the confidence that you have in Anthem. You and other reviewers has put Anthem on a pedestal and I'm sold beyond comprehension. The last time I brought a new receiver was 2004-5 and that was the Marantz SR 8002 Flagship and it still sounds great, but like I said before it's time for a new one and I'm getting the Anthem AVM-90, because the next time I buy another receiver will probably be within the next 5 to 10 years this time. My new hobbie is being an audiophile and I love it. This is another great video. 🎶❤

I've been watching the forums as I wait impatiently for mine to arrive (who knows when that will be at this point) and have to say that many of the issues people have been having had kind of given me some second thoughts but I also see that even in lockdown in Ontario the engineers continue to put out new beta firmware to deal with the reported issues and are making real headway and that combined with your positive feedback make me feel alot better about my purchase.

    Interesting video.
I'm not crazy about my AV7702MKII but I will say a couple of things in its defense.
    1) Bootup time isn't 10-12 seconds, maybe 8.
    2) Marantz has a separate app that allows complete control from Android or IOS. It also has a full function web server.
Everyone I've talked to agrees about ARC Genesis, which is why I'll ultimately likely end up with an AVM70 at some point to.

Anthem ARC Genesis alone is the reason why I will swap out my Marantz in favour of the Anthem when the time comes. From all the reviews the AVM70 seems to be more musical in comparison to the AV7706 as well.

I have the Anthem now for a few Months and I had the same experience as You told in your first video. What You told in your second video. I recognised exact the same things. For me exact the Same experience. I had professional calibration on the Marantz but Audyssee stoppen with that kind of callibration. With the Anthem I can do the calibration myself with a superior microfone and the sound is much better than the Marantz. I heard that Anthem ARC since a few months also messure the distances from the speakers to the sweet spot. Again: I can do it all myself. The professional Audyssee also use a very good microfone but, everytime where something chances in your room or setting, You have to ask for making a new calibration. It took a few hours to do the callibration, because the measurements had to be sent to Audysssee in in US an after about an hour the callibration was sent back to put it in the eprom of the Marantz. The sound of professional callibration was superior to the OWN callibration with that cheap microfone. And now calibration is done within an hour. Stereo and multichanel with or without curtains closed. Subwoofer or none subs. Perfect. Very impressive!! Thanks for the video. Nice to exact recognising the same “problems”.

Many years ago, I had an Anthem Statement D2. It sounded wonderful. But, it was very buggy. Lots of HDMI handshaking problems. Anthem used to say it was the outer components not sticking to HDMI specs. I eventually replaced the Anthem with the Marantz AV8801. With the same source components, I had zero problems with the Marantz. It was extremely reliable. I’ve since replaced that with a Marantz AV7705. It too is very reliable. No bugs. Anyway, I am again thinking about Anthem. They have a sale on the AVM 70 8K. Now that you’ve had the Anthem for a while now, has it’s software bugs been resolved? Is it stable? I’m tempted to get an Anthem again, but software reliability is important for me.

Hey K-Pace we’re do you think the ceiling is at were it is worth the extra expense to a Anthem over say the Marantz? What kind of system would be fine with an audio video receiver over a pre-pro and separate amps. Even the less expensive receivers with pre outs. I ask because I know room size ,speakers and other factors are important but in our hobby I know we love chasing the best we can get for sound and visuals. I guess what I am asking is when do you know what it is we can get away with before it becomes to much and actually takes away from our goals. Stay safe and thanks for another informative and fun video!

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  Před 3 lety

i'll tell you now there isn't a receiver that sounds better than a pre pro. What they put in a pre pro they don't put in a receiver as far as sound quality components goes. you're question is more in regards to speakers than receivers. You can max out on speakers based on the room because of size limitations but generally moving up and up to the next best receiver or processor will continue to give you the best sound available. only thing to remember is that a really good processor will expose bad speakers. So they do need to go hand and hand as far as quality goes if you can

So I’m sure you definitely noticed a difference in sound quality. The question is, with my Marantz 8805 that utilizes the 4490 akm on all channels would I notice any gain? I know it’s all how it’s implemented but this is Marantz flagship you gotta know they put everything they’ve got into the unit I have. Even upgraded to a Rotel 3 channel am for my from sound stage, it was an improvement but still not to the level of the onkyo630. Am I the only 1 here?

No, you are not the only one.🙂 My findings Marantz SR 7013 (5.2.4) vs Harman/Kardon AVR 370 (5.2.2) - Harmans last receiver from 2014. Marantz puts a "veil" over speakers, it can help to reduce xt32 room correction to 200 Hz via Audyssey App. But high frequencys and treble never sound as good as on Harman. Marantz sounds processed, thin, very little dynamics while Harman sounds natural, large and fantastic dynamics in comparison. Marantz bass is all over the place while Harmans is precise, thight and corresponds to the action on the screen (ie. bass "moves" around the room on H/K in sync with movie action). Paning and imaging are outstanding on Harman while none existent on Marantz in comparison.
Dolby Atmos sounds better on H/K even though it has 2 fewer spekaers and uses simulated front hights (Dolby Pro Logic IIz) while Marantz uses native Atmos and 4 height speakers (front and rear hights). With sounds better I mean H/K gives you a real sound bubble and goose bumps ie feeling you are there, which I seldom get on Marantz. If I never heard Harman I would give Marantz 8/10. The real score is Marantz 4/10, Harman Kardon 10/10. 👌
      Harman all the way! 🙂👍
PS This is true for Dolby Volume set on Medium and in Pro Logic IIz mode (front height speakers) which adds +10 db on top over Dolby Volume. Dolby Calibration engaged as well in acordance with speaker sensitivity. Arcam HDA and Anthem MRX line have Dolby Volume as well (called Dolby Processing Modes Film, Music and Night).

Marantz is older unit and Anthem is just came out, not fair comparison in that regard. Anthem is new design ground up, the difference between Anthem and Marantz is ARC in favor of Anthem this is what everyone paying extra. Anthem is not for everyone though. it could be frustrating for novice. with anthem tweaking is needed with knowledge, this why anthem is great. this is similar to DIRAC which is on par with ARC. I have DIRAC on my Lexicon unit.

So as a yamaha user for years, every initial YPAO calibration sets most of my speakers(Polk LSim) to large and I always have to change them manually to small. When you initially run ARC does it set them as small or large the way YPAO does? You mentioned most users first ARC calibration will satisfy them. So are you implying that whatever Anthem sets speakers at is going to give you great sound and you don't have to change it ? It's so scary after using Yamaha for over 30 years to move to an Anthem but I want the best sound I can afford.

A long time ago I bought a marantz receiver to cost me 6000$ canadian before that marantz and Denon came a same compagny and the unit over dvd had a video issue. It was all marantz video board. When in a james bond movies there was explosiobn there was video noise feedback. So the store took back the unit and I bought the denon Avr 5800 for few $$ less. I had in the past Also anthem. I sold it to return with denon 6300h. Anthem add kind of like non stable behavior and they were taking long time to correct it. So that why I came back with Denon more stable unit. So I will take another shot with that avm70 that they start to be more mature in their correction bug issue that I read about

sound quality is subjective i personally like the denon/marantz more, i agree arc is a step up from audessey but its far to complicated to most peoples out there, Denon/Marantz will get you more for you bucks with the latest hdmi board not like the anthem where you will need to change in a few month... Denon/Marantz will get you straight to the point with solid performance. the Anthem is buggy horrible interface and complicated as hell... not that i don't like paradigm, i got all paradigm speakers and i live almost beside it in Canada... i returned my anthem processor very quickly because was to buggy complicated and sound quality was not there, you need to stop telling people how good it sound compered to marantz because its not true. in fact most people will return this asap because for the price point don't not do justice over the Marantz, if you like room correction that much go with dirac and you be more happy

In the beginning you told me sound quality is subjective and then the end you told me I'm wrong lol you gotta pick one. Also, you can't tell the Marantz is better because YOU decided not to learn how to use the anthem. Quite possibly if tried to learn the complicated stuff, your thoughts on sound quality would change
