- In this trip report, we look at an Emirates First Class flight from Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport to Dubai International Airport on an Airbus A380-800.
The video starts off with a luxury Audi SUV limousine ride to the airport which comes complimentary with an Emirates First Class ticket. After using the priority check-in counter and the fast-track security lane, I head straight to the Emirates Lounge which is just a level below the boarding gate. The lounge is a joint First and Business Class lounge, and I notice there’s no extra perks for being a First Class passenger. I review the lounge ambiance, seating, food/drinks and amenities in detail.
The First Class cabin on the A380-800 is situated at the front end of the upper deck. The cabin has 14 private First Class suites arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. After the flight takes off, I have a detailed look at the closed suite. I found the product to be incredibly private, spacious and comfortable. The suite has plenty of storage space, a sizeable side-table and a small personal mini-bar. There’s also multiple light sources, air vents, an illuminated vanity mirror, a snack basket and a private closet. Several amenities are available, including a set of pyjamas, slippers, eye mask, a Bulgari amenity kit and a Byredo personal spa kit.
On the 14 hours flight, the meals are served on a “dine-on-demand” basis meaning that passengers can eat what they want, whenever they want. The multi-course meals are served with Robert Welch cutlery on Royal Doulton fine china. There's a small First Class bar & lounge found at the front of the upper deck. Nearby, there’s a couple of oversized shower spas which I review in detail just prior to landing. On this flight, I also review the IFE system (called ICE), the on-board WiFi (which is free!) and the comfortable lie-flat bed (where I get plenty of good quality sleep).
The flight touches down on-schedule. After disembarking I head to the transit station to catch my connecting First Class flight to Vienna.

This video did nothing to change my opinion that your flight reviews represent the gold standard of CZcams flight videos. As usual, this one is pretty much faultless. Some vloggers feature more exotic destinations and obscure airlines, which make them very interesting, but for gold-plated flights on deluxe airlines, flights I can only dream of, yours can't be beat.

I have travel in their business class and didn't want to got off the plane, this takes it to the next level. I also appreciate a reviewer who looks like they enjoy a good quality wine as much as I do. Seeing the wines they have presented would be a real dilemma for me as I would want to try them all. Keep doing what you’re doing. Your videos are wonderful and really captivating. This really helps me to work hard so I can afford to have multiples first class flights in my life. Especially the Emirates ones! I really love them. The privacy on their carriers is amazing! I wish and I know that I will one day flight on first class emirates with my boyfriend 😁🛫

Thanks Eddie for showing the menu in a way that we could read each item. Also, I appreciate you taking the time to show each course completely. Very few CZcamsrs do this. Actually you are the best of all aviation CZcamsrs in this respect. I choose long haul flights based on seat/suite comfort, meals and how they are served and cabin crew service and attitude. I have had flight attendants make the trip memorable and unfortunately have had flight attendants ruin the entire experience regardless of the seat comfort or meals served. My favorite airlines are SQ, ANA, JAL and Cathay Pacific. Interestingly they are all Asian carriers. Obviously, it must be their excellent training and most likely an aspect of their cultures. I would be most interested in hearing your thoughts about this. Thanks. ♥️🛫🙏🏽🌎
Thanks for your view and comment John. My reviews are long and detailed, but that's the OCD nature of me unfortunately (or fortunately!). I'm glad you enjoyed the video though. On the topic of Asian carriers, some would say the service is more robotic and that may be true on some of them. I think the culture in Asia is more customer service-oriented, which reflects on your experiences.
Another great video. Brings back great memories. Hopefully the dine on demand from anything on the menu will remain an EK feature. I was perplexed that you didn't have caviar for lunch but very relieved to see it later in the flight!
I hope so too regarding the dine-on-demand! I think it still is part of the feature during COVID times, but everything is served on a single meal tray these days...
Great stuff. I once flew an Aeroflot IL62 from Singapore to Shannon in Ireland via Moscow in 1990. Emirates looks a lot more comfortable.

Nice trip report sir I flown with Emirates airline so many times last time was back in 2018, to 🇧🇩 from 🇨🇦 from 🇦🇪to 🇧🇩🛬🛫. Business class 777-300er. 💚it
The 777 business class isn't very luxurious given the 2-3-2 configuration. No direct aisle access and the middle seat is not pleasant to be in :s

I like how most airlines including my favorite airline Emirates has dine on demand service which means you can eat whenever you feel like through out the flight.
Exactly! They don't force you to eat when you're not hungry. And you can pick exactly what you want to eat whenever you want :)

In all seriousness, Eddie, where do you see air travel post covid? I am hearing murmurs that First Class will be finished or do you think the demand for First Class will keep it alive?
Emirates have the best cheese plate hands down.
Post-covid travel will be very different to what we're used to. I think airlines will find it too risky financially to accommodate first class as they need to be put on big aircraft (eg. 777 or a380), and they can't afford to fly them empty. Plus demand is low at the moment, and the airlines have to do social distancing on airplanes. I think such luxuries at 39,000 ft will be but a dream in the next little while. But one day when covid is gone, we might be able to return to such travel. Fingers crossed :)

I enjoyed the Emirates lounge many a time at Sydney Airport.
The staff were always so nice.
Shame it was'nt the case in First class on EK.
Lazy rude thai staff that did'nt even offer me a meal.I had to ask and as I was is suite 4A and in ear shot of the galley I herd some snyde remarks about my weight dispite me being disabled and unable to walk to the galley to ask for a meal and drink.I was seated throughout the flight.
Speaking of which I found the seats most uncomforable widthwise and the food was poor to say the least.
EK is a carrier I avoid at all cost.
That's a really shame to hear Tavita. They're not as polished as the SQ first class attendants. I remember telling the EK purser once about the dreadful 2-3-2 Business class configs on the new 777, and she gave me a dirty look instead of taking on the honest feedback :s
Tavita, How absolutely awful for you. I always try to fly SQ First Class Suites when available. I have never had a bad experience service wise with SQ Flight Attendants. JAL has also had quite attentive and courteous cabin service. Hope that will never happen to you again.

How long ago was this flight? I am considering flying HKG-YYZ via EK, but not sure if it is worth it to book First Class at the moment.
Yes and no. First class is still better than business/economy during COVID times, and if the countries you're flying to have restrictions on incoming passenger numbers, being in First/Business class means you're less likely to get bumped off the flight. The service won't be the same as pre COVID times and you're probably paying more for the flight.

Another first rate review. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to First on two occasions, but have not had the courage to try the shower at 40,000 feet.

Yes, all my upcoming uploads will be pre-COVID travels. Sadly (and fortunately) the COVID restrictions keep me grounded for now. I've got a few reviews I haven't had the time to upload.
