    I own over 20 Chinese radios and have tested them over the months pretty thoroughly I can honestly say that the Tidradio H3 is in my opinion the best, receive sensitivity, transmit power and resonable harmonics, size, weight, display, memories user functions and value for money it is the best I have, I hope others have my same experience

    I have the H3 and the H8 on the way. This is the first time I've heard of any battery issue on the H3. I will make sure to keep an eye out on it.
    Thanks for the great video Chuck. ;)

    I think it was ham radio dude who had a similar problem with a Tidradio battery. He charged it but it wouldn't display when the battery was full. But when he put it back in the charger the led would show fully charged. Have you considered the battery is fine and the battery management system is at fault.
    Nice informative video.
    All the best David M0DUU

    Thank you for the video! One remark I would have to do, is that a) Tidradio is doing a very aggressive PR campaign sending the H3-H8 out to everyone with a HAM youtube channel for review, and it seems it works as they are the "talk of the town", b) I think that comparing them to Baofeng's UV-5R is unfair... They should be compared with Quansheng's UV-K5(8)/6 and Baofeng's UV-17/18/21 as these are its direct "competitors".... Other than that thank you again for your very informative video! 73 from Athens, Greece.

    Since this is also intended for GMRS and channels 8-14 have a 1/2W max, it makes sense to limit UHF low power to under 1/2W.

  • @WHNorthcote
    @WHNorthcote Před 6 měsíci +2

    I wonder if the UK would get this. Also I hope they get a flat 5W on UHF and with upper VHF. Also I hope the developers can get it to do similar to the Quansheng UK-V5 ( 8 ) and maybe get AM as well. Could be a fun market as these radios are quite popular.

      They are in the UK. I forget the guys name that has reviewed this radio a ton of times. He is in the UK. I got mine a few weeks ago.. it’s a really good radio. The audio is very “tinny”, but, mic gain is cool. And frequency scan/match is nice.. and Bluetooth programming.
      Way better that uv5r. Very sold

    Looks pretty promising. Get the battery thing straightened out and I'll buy one. Couple of other reviewers have had the same issue. Like the airband.

    Hi KK6USY - I enjoyed your video. I just received mine. I am not a ham radio enthusiast, but a retired pilot - I bought this just to be able to listen to aircraft radio, specifically: Approach Control and Tower near our home. I cannot figure out how to program in an aviation frequency to be able to listen to that. I went through the manual (repeatedly) and found nothing addressing this. I sent an e-mail to TidRadio, but no response as of yet. Could you give me some advice on how to enter aviation frequency 120.4 and perhaps one other? Years ago, I had an aviation hand-held: you just punched in the frequency and you were listening. I'm sure there is some combination of button presses to get it there. I do have AM Band turned on - no scanning, no reception. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Best wishes - Jim

      Make sure you are in the frequency mode not channel mode and you should be able to punch in one on and A one on B then lock it until you want to change something. Orange button it will tell you which mode you are in you want freq. Top right button is lock just hold and you should see a key come up on the screen do the same to unlock

      @@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures Thanks! I figured out the frequency/channel thing, just couldn't get the punched in number to go into the current choice. I appreciate your help!

    I wonder why the 1.25 meter/220 band and GMRS are overlooked on so many of the reviews. FYI: Those fake Nagoyas are trash, but with tuned whips I'm getting getting no less than 5 watts on all bands with my HIROYASU 8811; think improved radtel 470 L/X. My radtel 470 radios 9-12 watts. All are MML radios with different cases along with some other rebranded. On 223.500 with 9+ watts I had a simplex qso with a station 4.5 miles over a 1,000 ft ridge between us. A bit of signal breaking, but mostly clear. Surprised me.

    I received my TD-H3 yesterday. The battery is no good. I can only get a few minutes on receive before it completely dies. This is going back. It's very disappointing.

    Do you know if the airband is compatible with the 8.33 kHz spacing?
    I saw you can't choose an 8.33 kHz step in the scan mode but that wouldn't bother me. Can you manually type in two frequencies that are 8.33 kHz apart, though?

    • @ensom
      @ensom Před 2 měsíci

      the most recent firmware update adds 8.33 kHz spacing in the menu options

      @@ensomThanks you!!
      Still not perfect because if doesn't round up or down like it should.
      And we're still missing 1 MHz of air band (136-137).
      But definitely on the right path.
