In the 40's they never knew the "muscle groups" work outs were limited and only large nuslce groups were worked on. Thats just a taste for you. This fight happened almost 11 years ago. Pudzianowski is now 13/7, still fighting and has improved a lot. So, give the man props for having the balls to reinvent himself, sticking with it and doing well. To those talking about roids, Sylvia has also used them as well as Matt Hughes and others from Miletich.

To samo mówię Pudzian nie potrafi się bić nie ma żadnego stylu techniki to jest styl rozpaczliwca, jest dobry na słabszych typu najman.

For our friends around the world, Tim Sylvia "The Maniac" is one of the original UFC legends. He has fought some of the best MMA Guy and is very athletic for his size. As you noticed, he uses the mai tai clinch for those devastating knees to the head. Once the fight went to the ground, the end was near for Marious.

Being a fighter is a totally different ball game than lifting huge boulders on a table.
Pudzianowski did well here against one of the world’s top fighters. He’s also done well in the decade or so since this fight took place. It seems like a solid background in “lifting huge boulders on a table” isn’t so bad after all when it comes to self defense (although it obviously doesn’t guarantee anyone the victory).

Congrats to TIm! Perfect game plan, striking looked crisp. More elbows standing, boxed Marius out perfectly, just slide a few to the face after a shove. This was a pretty exciting fight, I hope he got paid well.

Interesting choice match up. A well reknowned wide-framed powerhouse currently transitioning into MMA vs a tall striker-based fighter and former heavyweight champion.
Mariusz maybe have been a world strongman champ, with some steroid assistance (no strongman is natural in that sport) but he’s done well in MMA starting from scratch and taking on highly reputable veterans with considerably more experience. That takes some balls regardless of his strongman status. Maximum respect to Mariusz for aiming high despite a clear lack of experience, even at novice level. Muscular strength only has main advantage in wrestling and only If you know what you are doing and can execute the techniques with exemplary timing and skill. Without that a muscle man is a sitting duck waiting to be drowned in his own lactic acid in this sport. That’s if he isn’t KOd first by a skilled Boxing or Muay-Thai specialist.
No muscleman is a 'drowning duck' that's what skinny boxers say when they get intimidated by dudes outweighing them by a 100 pounds. I do both bodybuilding and Muay thai , if you do both, muscle mass is nothing less of a benefit. Stop spreading misinformation. If you're fighting someone with a lot of muscle mass. Attack the body. They will get exhausted quickly. Muscles need a lot of oxygen. And if you're attacking the body making it hard to breathe. They don't have a chance

Mariusz the great strongman, I admired how athletic and strong he was during his competitions. I remember him saying during an interview that he left boxing and MMA because he didn't like to get punched. He did ok although his fitness let him down.
He's body is soft , full of muscles yes ... But too soft for a fight ,those knee's that hurt him are ridiculous ,Tim throw them first couple times just to be active in the clinch ...than he realized Mariush weakness , he can't eat body punches like real fighters.

I dont think his fitness is bad, hes just terrible at takedowns and getting grappling done. The whole time he had sylvia against the cage, he was just pushing against him for no reason and wasted all of his energy. He gassed himself because he had no idea what he was doing against someone who knew exactly what they were doing.

@@pursmok1577 Actually, the match you're referring to was not against Randy Couture, it was against Frank Mir, who broke Sylvia's forearm with and armbar. The referee for that fight was actually Herb Dean, the man who refereed this fight.
