altough twisted metal black is not cannon i have to say it's really fucking good, its a bit too hard but it's extremely good, i recommend.

This game came out my junior year of college. We used to smoke weed and have crazy tournaments in my fraternity house. I usually drove warthog and I became obsessed with finishing the game with each driver. I did...much to the detriment of my grades and social life! Good times!

One of my all-time favourite games. Thumper had the most effective special attack. Also, if you run over 10 of those men you see walking around the warzones, you get full health.
Auger and Slam have better stability and handling, but Minion is the hardest boss in this one
i remember the ricochet bombs being so satisfying to use

I never really played it when this came out. I wasn't even born yet 🤭
But my father got it from a friend and gave it to me and my twin, the console, controllers, and Twisted Metal 2 along with it. I adored and still adore this game so much due to all of the memories. However, The console broke and we lost a few cables, We still have the disk of the game. My sister and I refuse to throw it away.
I remember SPECTRE was a nightmare when my heath was next to nothing, because he had that wacky ass; erratic missile special, that would sneak up on you out of no where.
This was such a fun game! I especially loved The Rooftops (redone), Hong Kong, and Paris! One of the very best PlayStation games. I love the exploration and combat and sense of openness that you really didn't get back then. Twisted Metal was so far ahead of most anything else in those respects.
but, only 3 and 4 have cheats for "God Mode" which will help you survive in a solo tournament. 3 also allows you to do the attacks you can't do in 4: jump + regular/rear freeze. Along with maxing everything out (99 of each weapon + a separate cheat for 99 freeze remotes)
4 requires using either Orbital or Minion to freeze

What a classic. Jumping skyscrapers, knocking enemies off of collapsing ice caps... I would always change the camera view in Holland so I could see all the carnage below me.
Only complaint? I wish Dark Tooth was somehow playable in the PS1 version. Oh, and setting the bar a little TOO high for vehicular combat games. No other one comes close, and I've played most of them.
On ps1 minion was the final boss, unless you use the code to get minion as a vehicle. Minion and Warthog can defeat dark tooth with 2 good players.
Oddly enough I’m 27 years old and This was the first video game I ever played. Could never afford a game system but The neighbor kid across the street had a ps1 and his mom was a stripper and his dad was a heavy alcoholic and they would basically get wasted and let him do whatever so we would play video games all day and he introduced me to the wonderful world of video games. I just remember being fascinated by how violent this game was.the intro in the beginning with the dude bleeeding out in the street fucked me up.i think I was only like 8 years old. Always played with warthog and he always played as grim. Heard he passed away awhile ago. Rest easy josh. Hope your somewhere down there in hell/Moscow tearing it up on your motorcycle..

You can tell the difference in TM2 from TM3 and 4 - TM2 has 'square' polygons and the later games have more varied shapes which means the enviornments are more organic. Too bad they play like shit after part 2
before the internet I remember riding my bike to kohls food store to look at the magazine's. I was so excited to see pictures of the future twisted metal 3 coming out. I would rip out any page with tm3 on it and go home and analyze everything about the picture. then the game came out and tried so hard to like it but couldn't.
+David Steck Yeah TM 3 and 4 were pretty bad. TM2 is one of the best games to ever grace the PS1 and is one of my all time favorites.

I used to work at Walmart and our Loss Prevention guy busted a kid for doing that once! He was a bit of a worthless douchebag though. He rarely caught anyone, but he was so stoked that he caught a 12 yo kid ripping a page out of a magazine, lol.

I don't know how anyone plays with the weapon list NOT on "list" mode. It's the first thing I do when I start playing a TM game: change it from icons to list, so I can see everything I have in my inventory at all times.
Best one of the series hands down. Definitely the most challenging.

Used to love playing as Mr .Grimm his special attack was OP as fuck. Minion taught me the importance of hit and run tactics.

Fucking love this game. This, and Crash Bandicoot 2 (both Greatest Hits at the time) were the first two games me and my brothers got, along with the Playstation console, for christmas. I was SO disappointed when the completely revised the mechanics in TM3, because it never felt the same. Not even the original TM's in-game mechanics hold a candle to this one. The sound effects, the feeling of impact when your car hits an object, car, or is struck by weapons - no other game in the Twisted Metal franchise compares. Wish they could have recreated the magic they had in this game for the other ones.

A great game with huge potential, the sequel to this game, TM3, was ruined by 989 Studios and the rest of the series went downhill since.
In my opinion, it rose with TM I and II, then dived with TM III, then half of it rose with TM 4, then it was flying with black then fell with small brawl, and since then it has kept rising.
have not played beyond TM3, I was scarred after that. will check out TM Black
