For anyone who doesn't know, this is pretty normal in the Nordics, swimming in icy water is an old tradition actually. In Finnish swimming halls you can find "cold pools" where you can _chill_ even during summertime.
More the merrier, congrats on your decision to move here! If you embrace it, the cold can provide a calming warmth like a summer sun beating down on your back - might not seem like it at first... but snow is fun at least! good luck!
@@darrensmith9143 bahaha yeah, likely won't be an easy transition, but it's all in the mind my friend. The body can adapt and handle itself just fine with a little time
Doing it for about a year now (immunity strengthens definitely) and now when I have moved to live in the countryside it's must-have. You provided me with one great idea to implement. I want a similar bathing set in my woods now :)
Currently conditioning myself to get back to doing this without fainting. Got temperatures below freezing finally and I'm never stepping outside with a jacket. Boots, hat and scarf if windy. But that's it. Regular indoor clothing for the rest. This inspired me to step up my game a bit more. Thanks for tickling my inner brute.
..so I watched this yesterday; now your videos are back in my sub feed. Didn't know you had several uploads the last month, saw none of them. So now I'm clicking the bell and all that too.
You know, I love to take cold showers. But in winter, when my alarm rings at 6 am and I get undressed for my shower, I shiver, my feet are cold, I just cannot get myself to turn the temperature to cold... it already takes all my willppower to get out of bed in the first place. I respect people who can make a habit of this.
A 15 C degree tub AFTER a 85-90 C sauna seems reasonable, not this killing machine (I've tried snow baths after sauna and in the long run it's not good for my lungs)
For example you dontget brown fat when running. When go into freezing water, your body will start producing brown fat (brown fat is good fat). And one aspect is the endorphines. When you do this long enough your brain starts producing morphine type of substance. It is addictive actually. And you need to stay longer and longer in the water to get get that high", because your body learns to deal with the cold.
Doing this seems easier to me than taking a cold shower, having to force yourself to stay under it and slowly lower the temperature, never covering yourself entirely
Hypothermia set in when you panic and dont know what to do. Train your mind and make it strong. Kill the doubt. Kill the fear. Kill the second guessing. Kill all the words that go against this. If the words tear you down, stand firm and tear the words down. Kill the 'comfort creature' inside of you. He won't help you become a stronger version of you. Tempering your body like this or a cold shower is good for the body and building of a immune system.
“Wake up early, temper your body” I was thinking like go for a run, not jump in 32.1F degree water and take a bath in the woods but okay. Water is probably warmer than the outside temp anyway. Other funny note to temper something in blacksmithing means to harden by cooling it down quickly and then warming back up a little so it’s not brittle, I hope he has a sauna behind the camera or he will be brittle and fall apart.

I thought it sounded like something the Russians would do.
@@leroylowe5921 russians took this tradition too, but adapted it to a christian ritual
I do the same thing every morning. Except my water is hot and showering down on me.
Looks like I'm just another apple that didn't roll away from the tree 😅 wouldn't have it any other way

The sound capture is excellent! Love the tone of the video as well.

I usually start hot, soap up and shampoo, and then slowly turn it colder and colder and by the end im at 100% cold and stay in like 1 minute.
Great stuff! Thinking of doing that here in Russia. What is outside temp? I'm a little afraid that my tub will completely freeze!
You sir are a king...
Thank you I now have a new motto!
