  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) Think of the all new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 and C 400 as the Mini Me version of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. In another accurate, fun and informative TFLcar first drive review Roman takes the new smallish Benz for a drive just outside of Portland, Oregon to see if it is indeed a smaller version of the new S-Class.

    You forgot the Acura TLX as competitor although C class pricing is now bit higher (also further from base A4/3 series).
    The V6 SH-AWD has similar fuel economy for 290 hp (+1 mpg compared to C400). Not sure if you went to the TLX event and we'll see a video of that.

    With AccessPort it went up to 340 something so does that mean this engine is tuneable? I'm sure it's not meant to be tuned like the WRX STI.. but I do love the interior compared to BMW 335xi and Audi S4. It has to be AWD for me because of where I live.

    Nice review, coming from Norway I always find the "engine recommendations" a bit funny. I bet I will never see (or atleast very seldom) see a C300 or C400 on the roads here. The taxes are immense on hp. alone, that's why the C220 (170hp diesel) and often also the C200 are the most sold cars here. Not so much fun to be a petrolhead with such regulations :)

    That said, I would debate that the move to AWD is likely for safety more than luxury. Until recently, everyone associated AWD with Subaru and Audi, not necessarily luxury. These days I think more people see the value in it (from performance/handling) for every day driving. Especially in places where winter exists. :P

I know its a 4 cylinder, but you would think that Mercedes Benz would be able to engineer it so to mask the vibration from the 4 banger ... I'm a little turned off by spending that kind of money for a 4 banger

    Can't decide between something classy, gorgeous and sophisticated as the new C-class, or something Brawny, young, and powerful in the new Mustang. Being 20, I want something that is powerful and enjoyable to drive, however I want a rich, luxurious place to sit in as well. The exterior of both cars is great, however I like the brawnier look of the Mustang. The C63 will not disappoint, I am sure of that, and if I had that kind of money, that would be the number 1 choice.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 Před 10 lety

      I had to make almost the same exact decision (i.e., sophisticated vs badass) just a few years ago. My compromise? The Audi S5. Based on the comments I've received, the S5 is perceived as gorgeous, very classy, powerful and badass. It was truly the only car that met me right in the middle of the same quandary you have without having to step up to an AMG, M or RS. And the exhaust note is perfectly subtle and brawny (I know, an oxymoron but its the perfect description). The C350 coupe and 335is were just a bit too wimpy. The E350 coupe was too sophisticated. The Corvette, Cayman and F-Type were too costly.

    TFL loves to spend ALOT of time bringing up a car's competitors. Sure, I understand the context, but it's a bit much I think. Almost anytime a specific trait of discussed, it's discussed in the context of its competitors. Why not just introduce the car being reviewed, mention its competitors, talk about the review car's merits/demerits, then summarize the differences from its competitors at the end?

    I like his comment that the car says you made it. So if you own a Dodge truck that cost as much or more, does that say you've made it?

    Tested this car right after the infiniti Q50 2.0T. The Q50 outclasses it, has better quality and fit and finish, more spacious, more gadgets, quieter and it can do all this while being cheaper! Q50 is like an ultra luxurious C250 (same engine and gearbox) and C180 price (u don't have this in America).

    I never liked C-Class's, they just looked so cheap and ugly. But this new C-Class looks like a boss! Absolutely love the design inside and out!

    I love the videos but it seems we are getting away from the actual car reviews and doing more stunts and fun things. That is all fine and dandy but i am looking for good honest car reviews.

    The ATS looks better on the inside to me, but the C class kills in the exterior department
