    Personally I would remove the calliper to look at the pistons before I pushed them home.

    Perfect example on how 'not to' replace brake pads.
    Remove the caliper and do it properly so you can clean pistons and give a good visual inspection.

      I guess having 100,000 miles on the bike means I have done something right, you can do your more in depth if you need, but it is not always necessary.

    Unless you are sure your caliper pistons are spotless you should NOT use the screwdriver method as it forces the crud built up on them back past the seals and is sure to cause leaks. On an ST it takes only a couple bolts and an extra minute to properly remove the caliper and thoroughly clean the area.

    i wouldnt push pistons back without first cracking the bleed screw ,,, especially on anything with abs ,,, but hey , to each their own i guess ,

    I would put anti-seize on the pin screw element, but not along the plain part, the pads slide along, anti-seize just attracts dirt, stops the pads sliding along....
