    Hi Jamie Thanks. Your video was great, I loved how you showed the software 1st then the cutting. I do have some questions.
    It seems that you are using a different medium that the sticky stencils rolls that silhouette & cricut sell. Both the plastic you said you usually use, the one n the video are definitely more economical than the stencil rolls. But, since you have so many viewers, many of whom, like myself, are new to this. I was hoping you could add a part2 stencil tutorial & get a little more detailed about ~The plastic you use (the pros & cons vs stencil vinyl)? ~What type of materials will it work on(fabric or just paper etc)? ~What types of paints can we use (does it need be a spray etc)? ~& Do we need to use an adhesive to hold it in place?
    That kind of stuff. I'm not familiar enough with the process to ask many specific questions; but, you seem knowledgeable & likely tried lots of methods before deciding on this one, so maybe just taking us thru your process may answer some questions that we new Cricut users haven't even thought of. Either way great video & I'll be checking out your others. Thanks, Lisa

      If you go overtop in like "pouncing" motions, you should be able to use acrylic paint, just make sure to bridge your gaps!

    • @MicheleEngel
      @MicheleEngel Před 7 lety

      Yes, you can use acrylic paints with a sponge. It won't bleed if you "offload" most of the paint so that it's not too wet. It can take a bit of practice to get a sense of how much paint to put on the sponge, so start with as little as possible; you can always add a bit if the coverage doesn't fill in the entire space. Also, I prefer to use the heavy body paints for stenciling instead of the fluids for just that reason, but you can use either. As long as the stencil material doesn't tear, you should get lots of use out of it.

  • @valeriegoss2779

    What can you use these type of stencils for?? Are they reusable??

  • @MrsHalfpint
    @MrsHalfpint Před 8 lety +1

    My problem is in cutting the stencils. I am using Grafix's Dura-Lar .003 clear film & also Grafix's Dura-Lar .004 Wet Medium Film (It says it will not bleed or run). This material is widely used for stencils, so I thought that someone could easily help me. Since my client wants to use it for spray painting his machinery, I thought this might be better. My problem is that either I seem to have too much pressure or not enough. I'm using the german carbine blade and setting the blade pressure between 300-350.
    If it didn't cut all the way through, I would have it cut out 2 or 3 times. Once, it was cutting the letters out & shooting them up in the air (I was afraid that they might get down into my machine) so I stopped it immediately. I've also called Cricut Customer Service, & she kept telling me to change the pressure, then change the amount of times it was cutting. We were on the phone for over 30 minutes & that's what I was doing anyway, so I ended the call & kept trying. I hate ruining all this expensive material, but I'm still trying, once in a while. I guess I will just have to tell him that I can't do it. If you know of something that might work for me, please let me know! Thanks!

I have watched over 10 videos and read about 10 forums today when I finally found the answer, so I thought I'd share it for Nancy and Aimee and anyone else who has this problem. You are gonna have to upload your image again and when you do there is a little box at the bottom right corner of one of the pages - The name & tag page (after you have selected and erased) it says "preserve original image within shape. Recommended for print then cut" UNCHECK THIS BOX. This should fix your issue.

      +Joy-n-scrappin I am sorry but you have to have the Cricut Explore. You can't do it on the Cricut Expression. I bought the Cricut Expression 2 and found this out afterwards I have the Cricut Explore Air now also because of it.

      I know you can use the craft room and cricut design space. I thought you were talking about downloading svgs from others. Sorry I must have misunderstood what you were asking.
