I was taught by Gordon's father. He's legacy. So awesome. His father, Dr. Jones, was the inspiration behind the movies about Indiana Jones. Incredible family. Gordon's father was one of my best professors. As an undergrad, Dr. Jones loved the South Asia area and would have us over to his house to taste Indian Food his wife made. He is the reason why I fell in love with History and led me to the path of discoveries I made in Egypt at Tanis. So...now you know the rest of the story.
Gordon is a great credit to the center. A man of high integrity. That zero mile post marker should never have been removed from its site where it stood for nearly 200 years.
Excellent as usual when Garry is involved. They should call him Mr. Civil War !
This series popped up today on you tube. Loving every minute of what you have done. Hope you cover Atlanta to the sea also.
The Texas is a beautiful locomotive, so glad that it is preserved and so well displayed.
When I was a kid in the 50s, we would visit the Texas in the basement of the Cyclorama at the Atlanta Zoo. I have home movies made in the 1960s when The General toured the country during the Centennial of the Civil War.
Such a great Museum!!!
Gordon’s a great story teller. What a museum! Thanks for giving us a taste of their vast number of exhibits. From Devon uk (Garry does need decaf! love him!)

Marthasville was the original name of the city of Atlanta.
I was born and raised in East Texas I've been to the Old Fort Parker The Fort was the site of a well-known Comanche Indian raid in May 1836, in which the Comanche captured 12-year old Cynthia Ann Parker.... To the Confederate reunion grounds and Cemetery located there in Mexia Texas.... To the Caddo Indian burial mounds....I've been to Lookout Mountain Chattanooga... And few other places.... But I would Love to see that Bonnie Blue flag Locomotive there in person....I am so Jealous.....😂🤣

there was two other engines involved in the great locomotive chase but Texas is the only surviving locomotive that took part in that race
