i always liked em and remember them well....they didn't have a lot of commercial tunes, kinda hard hitting rock/metal..their ballad type songs like "believe in you" were kinda long..but they were a damn good band. they weren't obscure though they were well known just not commerical..not a lot of radio airplay compared to other bands.

"Summertime Girls" was arguably their biggest hit, but other great ones from them are "Mean Streak", "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark", "Don't Stop Running", and "Contagious". Dave Meniketti has been their lead singer since 1974.
I was 16 years old in San Francisco seeing Y and T constantly. They got even better songs then that! Black Tiger, Open Fire when I hit the stage! We got to play some B sides for these youngsters.
@@michaelrieser9928 In their defense, I don't think Rescue Me or the J. Geils Band song they posted today were released as singles. They were just album cuts. They've been very liberal about driving off the "radio airplay" songs of a lot of artists, and B-sides are often hidden gems.
Y&T is one of the most consistent bands I know. You guys should definitely do more. Mean Streak, Don’t Stop Runnin’, and Black Tiger are favorites of mine, but they have a lot of good songs. It always puzzles me that they’re not talked about more.

The lead singer Dave was one of metals greatest voices featured in the "We're Stars" video for raising money for the African famine relief in the 80's. You'll be blown away.

It was like that for Ac Dc too. Pre Highway to Hell and Back in Black. The stuff after that not at the same top notch level.

They came back in 2010 and released another album “Facemelter”. They never seemed to get the fame that was due to them. I challenge the both of you to go down this rabbit hole.

One of my favorite bands. There are not many amazing triple threats like Dave Meniketti. Amazing Guitarist, Singer, and Song Writer. They have also had Drummer Jim DeGrasso who has played for Ozzy, Megedeth, and Alice Cooper just to name a few.
Y&T... oh man. Dave Meniketti is my all-time favorite guitarist. I first heard them maybe in late '84 when "Don't Stop Runnin'" got some airplay on Dallas radio. I saw them open for Motley Crue in late '85 (where they blew MC off the stage) and then again about 5 months later as an opener again when Y&T destroyed Aerosmith in early '86. With their talent back then they should have been huge, but they could catch any breaks and their label, A&M Records, didn't do them any favors back then. "I Believe in You" live (the studio version also from the 'Earthshaker' album) is damn-near a religious experience as Dave's solo is mind-blowing.

Kudos for getting to Y&T!! Dave Meneketti (Vocals, Guitar) is an outstanding musician & I've been seeing them off & on since the late 70's. "Mean Streak", "Black Tiger", "Keep on Runnin" would be great follow ups, but you could easily listen to every cut off this LP, Earthshaker & not get one bad track...
This band is one of the best live bands, still to this day. Dave Meniketti still sounds amazing. Great song to start with. I saw them a few weeks ago and all I can say is "Damn".
Y&T play up here in the Sacramento area a couple times per year. I see them at least once. Very fun band. Great energy. They always make me smile when I see them. I concur with a lot of other folks here, Summertime Girls and Mean Streak are a must.
Ive been a Y&T fan since i first saw them when they were Yesterday &Today in 78. They have always been popular in the states and especially in the Bay area where I grew up but in Europe and Japan they are Huge. Lead guitarist and vocals Dave Meniketti is one of the best if not the best singer /guitar players in the business
I,m from the Netherlands and Y & T was really popular here in the 80s. Their In Rock We Trust and Down For The Count reached the top 40 of the Album charts. I still prefer their first albums from the 70s. Yesterday And Today and Struck Down.
My very first concert was Y&T and Motley Crue! I remember hearing Y&T's song Summertime Girls during summer vacation from high school and was hooked. For me it's an uplifting and fun sun that I have to listen to around the start of every summer to ring in the new season on a positive note!

Besides "Rescue Me", they had bangers like "I Believe In You", "Forever", "Mean Strick", "Contagious", "Open Fire", "Midnight In Tokyo". I was introduced to Y&T's music about 26 years ago, and I was instantly hooked. Because I live in Australia, my local record store had to 'import' their albums. They have a great 80's rock sound, and their ballads are amazing, as are their live performances. Some songs to listen to are: Meanstreak; Hurricane; Don't Stop Runnin'; Struck Down; Winds of Change; Black Tiger; Midnight in Tokyo; I Believe in You; and Forever. Just to name a few.
There are entire generations that have never been exposed to Dave Meniketti, outlets like this are pivotal in providing exposure to unbelievable talents that time is slowly forgetting. Great job.

Y&T are my all time favorite bands. I've been fortunate to see them many times in small venues with the first being at a rock club I had worked at a couple years earlier. Dave has such a unique voice and this song and Forever are their anthems. They've sadly lost some members but are still going strong even after Dave beat cancer. I suggest listening to Forever but one of my faves is Barroom Boogie, it's what I call a story song. The story is old as time, man gets drunk, meets girl, takes girl home.....and well, listen and you'll hear all about it.
Y&T has been a favorite of mine since the early 80’s. Growing up Bay Area would see them live all the time. Always a high energy show. Could easily list 100 songs or more of theirs that are great songs. However sticking to a top 10 would be Forever, Mean Streak, Black Tiger, Don’t stop running, Open Fire, I’m Coming Home, I Believe in You, Hang ‘em High, On with the Show, & Winds of Change.

Y&T is for sure from Oakland, but 1974 Oakland. They were real big in the 80’s. The official live version of this is killer. Check out their songs Mean Streak and Keep on Runnin’. Y&T is the bomb. Front man Dave Meniketti is the real deal of Rock and Roll. Was fortunate to meet him. Great band.

I remember listening to this band in the 70's when they were known as Yesterday and Today, and no one heard of them. I was an evangelist for the band, telling everyone how good they were, their lead guitarist was insane. They only became popular years later, in the 80's after the name change however. Great band.
Still have my vinyl of the first album. Dave signed it after a show a dozen years ago. It was a club and the guys came out and hung around fans after the show. Actually had a few beers with a couple of guys before the show. They were just great guys!!! They were also soooo underrated.

Y&T is the most underrated metal band of the 80’s. They were my first live concert, coincidentally, Metallica opened for them that show at Day on the Green in Oakland ‘85.

Rock and Roll's Gonna Save The Wold, Contagious, Surrender, Black Tiger, Forever, there are SO MANY great songs by this unappreciated and undervalued band! Come see them in Petaluma, California in November! Weekend before Thanksgiving, see ya there! Been going to that show every year since 2003! They put on an amazing show for over 2 hours straight!

Been a fan of Y&T since I heard 25 hours a day off of Open Fire live. Dave has one of the best voices in hard rock & a very underrated guitar player imo. One of the best drummers in all of rock Leonard Haze, Joey Alves on rhythm guitar and Phil Kennemore on bass a great band from top to bottom. Unfortunately Dave Meniketti is the only original member alive but the personnel he has surrounded himself with are excellent. Personal favorites are Lipstick & Leather, Mean Streak, I'm Coming Home & Open Fire.

Yesterday & Today- Y&T- First time I saw these guy was around 1977ish They were opening for Boston at the old Winter Land Area in San Francisco I went to the show because there was some buzz about there drummer Leonard Haze and I wanted to see him play . My girlfriend and the others wanted to see Boston Leonard , Dave Menuketti vocals guitar , Joey Alves guitar & Phil Kennemore bass were as good as advertised But then Boston came on and knocked me on my ass and totally blew everyone away. Lol. Dave is still out there jamming. Rabbit hole of ROCKIN music. 🤘

I have a bunch of Y&T albums and I had the Yesterdays & Today album with the song “ Alcohol “ on it but unfortunately that one is lost somewhere A buddy of my who’s a big time drummer knows Dave and knew those guys. He introduced me to Stuf Burns , had an adult beverage and they jammed with some other guys. Very cool. Anyway thank you very much and I’ll check it out.

As has already been said, Summertime Girls was an awesome part of life’s soundtrack for those of us that grew up in the ‘80s (specifically 1985 & 1986). You would absolutely love the video. It has a similar vibe as all the Huey Lewis & the News videos from the same early ‘80s era that you’ve enjoyed.

Y&T play up here in the Sacramento area a couple times per year. I see them at least once. Very fun band. Great energy. They always make me smile when I see them. I concur with a lot of other folks here, Summertime Girls and Mean Streak are a must.

Ive been a Y&T fan since i first saw them when they were Yesterday &Today in 78. They have always been popular in the states and especially in the Bay area where I grew up but in Europe and Japan they are Huge. Lead guitarist and vocals Dave Meniketti is one of the best if not the best singer /guitar players in the business
I,m from the Netherlands and Y & T was really popular here in the 80s. Their In Rock We Trust and Down For The Count reached the top 40 of the Album charts. I still prefer their first albums from the 70s. Yesterday And Today and Struck Down.

My very first concert was Y&T and Motley Crue! I remember hearing Y&T's song Summertime Girls during summer vacation from high school and was hooked. For me it's an uplifting and fun sun that I have to listen to around the start of every summer to ring in the new season on a positive note!
Seen them live in 1982 when they supported AC/DC in Glasgow ,been a fan ever since
Mean streak, Black Tiger, Midnight in Tokyo, all bangers from this iconic band that still kicks but live to this day. Winds of change will put a tear in your eye! Please do more Y&T!

Yes! Y&T. Good to start in the 70's but they really hit big time in the 80's with "Summertime Girls" "Contagious" etc. Factoid: Y&T took their name as a nod to The Beatles' "Yesterday and Today" album
It's so great to see a Y&T reaction. Basically, the golden age of this band was between 1981 and 1986. Besides "Rescue Me", they had bangers like "I Believe In You", "Forever", "Mean Strick", "Contagious", "Open Fire", "Midnight In Tokyo".
There are some others bands of this era you should eventually enjoy:

- Axe: Now Or Never
- 707: I Could Be Good For You

I was introduced to Y&T's music about 26 years ago, and I was instantly hooked. Because I live in Australia, my local record store had to 'import' their albums. They have a great 80's rock sound, and their ballads are amazing, as are their live performances. Some songs to listen to are: Meanstreak; Hurricane; Don't Stop Runnin'; Struck Down; Winds of Change; Black Tiger; Midnight in Tokyo; I Believe in You; and Forever. Just to name a few.

Oh, Hell yes! Y and T tomorrow night Petaluma Ca. OPEN FIRE, when I hit the stage! I can feel it already. Nobody is bringing the 1983 like them anymore. Yes Dave is the last original, but his current band mates keep the torch still burnin!
Y&T are my all time favorite bands. I've been fortunate to see them many times in small venues with the first being at a rock club I had worked at a couple years earlier. Dave has such a unique voice and this song and Forever are their anthems. They've sadly lost some members but are still going strong even after Dave beat cancer.
I suggest listening to Forever but one of my faves is Barroom Boogie, it's what I call a story song. The story is old as time, man gets drunk, meets girl, takes girl home.....and well, listen and you'll hear all about it.

Y&T has been a favorite of mine since the early 80’s. Growing up Bay Area would see them live all the time. Always a high energy show. Could easily list 100 songs or more of theirs that are great songs. However sticking to a top 10 would be Forever, Mean Streak, Black Tiger, Don’t stop running, Open Fire, I’m Coming Home, I Believe in You, Hang ‘em High, On with the Show, & Winds of Change.

Y&T is for sure from Oakland, but 1974 Oakland. They were real big in the 80’s. The official live version of this is killer. Check out their songs Mean Streak and Keep on Runnin’. Y&T is the bomb. Front man Dave Meniketti is the real deal of Rock and Roll. Was fortunate to meet him. Great band.
Their "Don't Stop Running" did a lot for my confidence as a teen. :). Summertime Girls is fantastic too.

I remember listening to this band in the 70's when they were known as Yesterday and Today, and no one heard of them. I was an evangelist for the band, telling everyone how good they were, their lead guitarist was insane. They only became popular years later, in the 80's after the name change however. Great band.
Still have my vinyl of the first album. Dave signed it after a show a dozen years ago. It was a club and the guys came out and hung around fans after the show. Actually had a few beers with a couple of guys before the show. They were just great guys!!! They were also soooo underrated.
Didn’t start till 1980, but I’m still seeing them every year in Petaluma Ca. It’s like I’m 16 again.

Love that you got a taste of Y&T! I know everyone has their suggestions of "Summertime Girls" or "Contagious", but for me it's "25 Hours A Day" because Phil's bass riff is so underrated! Going to miss him.
Y&T is the most underrated metal band of the 80’s. They were my first live concert, coincidentally, Metallica opened for them that show at Day on the Green in Oakland ‘85.
I was there. Metallica won the day. Y&T had some backup singers that were not my party with their stage presence. Dave is so underrated it’s criminal.

Probably the most underrated hard rock band besides Triumph. They have a fantastic catalog. Check out " Rock And Roll's Gonna Save The World ". Banger. Lipstick and Leather, Mean Streak.....that were really good. Saw em open for Motley Crue on the Theatre Of Pain tour. It was wicked!
saw that same tour in Huntsville Alabama. met the guys after the show, Joey Alves (rip) signed my ticket stub, still have that....fantastic and very under-rated band.

Rock and Roll's Gonna Save The Wold, Contagious, Surrender, Black Tiger, Forever, there are SO MANY great songs by this unappreciated and undervalued band! Come see them in Petaluma, California in November! Weekend before Thanksgiving, see ya there! Been going to that show every year since 2003! They put on an amazing show for over 2 hours straight!

This band has a great catalog you WANT to explore. Beginning in the late 70's, yesterday and Today, is what the band started as. then, after some thought they shrunk the name to simply Y&T. These guys are so underrated but have such a great catalog you to check out.

One of the great sleeper songs that never gets mentioned is Armed And Dangerous from Y&T's Contagious record.
Been a fan of Y&T since I heard 25 hours a day off of Open Fire live. Dave has one of the best voices in hard rock & a very underrated guitar player imo. One of the best drummers in all of rock Leonard Haze, Joey Alves on rhythm guitar and Phil Kennemore on bass a great band from top to bottom. Unfortunately Dave Meniketti is the only original member alive but the personnel he has surrounded himself with are excellent. Personal favorites are Lipstick & Leather, Mean Streak, I'm Coming Home & Open Fire.
Yeah ! Boy o Boy. Yesterday & Today- Y&T- First time I saw these guy was around 1977ish They were opening for Boston at the old Winter Land Area in San Francisco I went to the show because there was some buzz about there drummer Leonard Haze and I wanted to see him play . My girlfriend and the others wanted to see Boston Leonard , Dave Menuketti vocals guitar , Joey Alves guitar & Phil Kennemore bass were as good as advertised But then Boston came on and knocked me on my ass and totally blew everyone away. Lol. Dave is still out there jamming. Rabbit hole of ROCKIN music. 🤘

Hey. Thanks. They played as Yesterday & Today at the first show I was at. I have a bunch of Y&T albums and I had the Yesterdays & Today album with the song “ Alcohol “ on it but unfortunately that one is lost somewhere A buddy of my who’s a big time drummer knows Dave and knew those guys. He introduced me to Stuf Burns , had an adult beverage and they jammed with some other guys. Very cool. Anyway thank you very much and I’ll check it out.

As has already been said, Summertime Girls was an awesome part of life’s soundtrack for those of us that grew up in the ‘80s (specifically 1985 & 1986). You would absolutely love the video. It has a similar vibe as all the Huey Lewis & the News videos from the same early ‘80s era that you’ve enjoyed.
