it works... but so does good seamanship, eye ball navigation and common sense.

That all warning sounds go onto your nerves. Why the autopilot cannot navigate around or at least avoid the collsion. All shown can be set up in the chartploter and together with a doppler/marpa radar and zone alarms that does all tracking and warning.

You Should see hundreds of all sorts od alarms on ECDIS while going through Mississippi river . Makes everyones crazy , pilots , me , officers.... One of OOW ut be continuously engaged in cancelling alams only . Ones Ecdis gets overloaded it freezes....
