Car swerves into Cyclist

  • Car pointlessly overtakes, then cuts off the cyclist, who is in the cycle lane. Then swerves into him. The driver was not aware of what she was doing. She only avoided driving into me because I shouted and hit her window. Then performed two dangerous maneuvers in an attempt to slow me down.

    Three points to note:-
    1) Well Done for not reacting in a negative way, despite a second attempt (it seems) by the car driver to escalate, you just carried on your journey rather than argue. Best move ever.
    2) The car driver certainly seems to deliberately involve you somehow, both in the 2nd infringement into the cycle lane, (the 1st may just have been poor driving, the 2nd either deliberate or very distracted).
    3) Dayem you got some speed up at the end

I think he has missed the point - the driver is trying to get the cyclist to stop. The motorist is not being antagonistic - it's just the cyclist is ignoring her request for him to stop- maybe an incident earlier.
Good road craft would suggest the cyclist should stop - if it so the motorist is being abusive then you ride off.

I record front and back views as well. I've sent so many videos to the Sheriffs and gotten results more times than not. Today it's so easy to just email them the vid. They go find them, then email back when they either arrest or fine them and tell me when I need to be at court. I've been hit twice, the most recent making it so I need a bilateral hip replacement and others small broken bones. And drifted into while in traffic by ppl on their phones not paying attention. But when they try to do me harm or harass if I can't get to them to get ahold of them I report them. You HAVE to do it. Please don't be lazy guys if that happens. I live in a TINY little US state in New England with the largest city with 50k or something(10k where I live at most)and each summer there are dozens of hit and runs on bicyclists and pedestrians on the side of the road in the state. Imagine it's so much worse in populated areas.
Shit has to stop. When I'm driving going around a bike is nothing. It's like going around a car but easier. Do you sperg when you have to go around every car? No. So grow the f up dummies with anger issues. Or leave earlier with plenty of time to your destination like adults.

When I commuted by bike I got so scared when cars did this (I was thrown off the bike several times previously) I used to see red instantly and smash the car body panels up. I ended up in a few fights and many shouting matches! Got so bad I started to carry one of those pen shaped emergency glass breakers and just put the back window and\or windscreen through and not even stop!! I don't ride on the streets anymore!!

I am wondering if the driver was pulling over to talk to you. Perhaps to ask about your bike. At the beginning he almost hit you twice but then he was pulling ahead and stopping.

I think those type of cycle lanes are balderdash and don't benefit the cyclist. You are meant to take a primary position for the sake of visibility and avoid drains and things, but these type of cycle lanes force you into the gutter.

  • @magnificentmuttley2084

I’d have kicked the shit outta that car, I’m not a cyclist but I respect their rights on the road, always give them room when I pass, in which I change the full lane if I can but leave 2 meters if I can’t! You cyclists shouldn’t have to put up with that shit!
