    I'm quite amazed how much negativity there is in this comment section. I think a lot of those photos came out great. It seems like a lot of 35 mm and medium format photographers are here who don't understand the purpose of instant photography. I'll definitely be getting one of these cameras.

  • @tcohmemsyy
    @tcohmemsyy Před rokem +61

    The fatal flaw with NONS cameras is that they insist on using 35mm lenses instead of medium format. I think a lot of detail is being lost because of that magnifying lens they've put in this new version of the camera, which apparently isn't removable.

      1000% the reason I don’t have one, idiotic to have built in permanent optics

    • @chrisworld2

      I’m glad I saw this comment because now I’m definitely not buying one. I didn’t even think about this. I was more focused on the price of the body alone, aside from what I wanted to do which was instax square mono which is at $2/shot. That’s a $20 bill for every 10 shots. Quickly you’re at $200 after having lots of fun and hitting your 100th shot. Very expensive for something that’s gimmicky and a hobby. Then you realize nearly a grand into it (between camera and 100 photos) that it’s medium format but built wrong and all those shots could have looked better.

    @Deathbynature89 Před rokem +28

    If Instax had a Tungsten white balance film you could put a Tungsten filter on the lens, like a Tiffen 85B, and drop the brightness of the sky since it cuts blue light.

    Thanks for this review. Its an interesting concept. You would think that having a decent metering system would be possible at that price point however. So far the best combo for me is a regular camera or phone combined with a Instax Printer. Not the same experience for sure but waaaaay more reliable.

  • @areallyrealisticguyd4333

    Inevitably in strong contrasty light you have to meter for shadows otherwise you lose so much of your subject. Instax is perfect when there's soft even lighting

  • @Seimstudios
    @Seimstudios Před rokem +9

    Thanks for this. Looks like they have the film plane wrong. There's no sharpness. The quality coming out of these is very sub part for what these vintage lenses should produce. A cheap instax square camera produced better than this and the Lomography Wide format 4x5 back is on another universe to this. Neat idea, loaded with artifacts and blur and vignette still.

  • @SimeonKolev
    @SimeonKolev Před rokem +6

    So, this has a leaf shutter inside and takes 35mm lenses, but shoots on 6x6 paper. Isn't it going to be better if you adapt a medium format lens? Like Mamiya 645 ones...?

    • @SimeonKolev
      @SimeonKolev Před rokem +2

      Ahaaa there is a cheap and crappy tele converter that stretches the image from 35mm to medium format size in the mount. For me - it is a waste of film. You better get an old TLR with adapter for polaroid paper.

    What were the lenses ?

  • @WittyDroog
    @WittyDroog Před rokem

    Beautifully designed and love the use of lenses but for the end results there ARE rivals in the Instax range. For the price you may as well pony up the extra cash for MiNT's offerings which offer purpose built performance with the medium, and for far less you can look at Lomography's offerings for Instax. As someone who owns all the Lomography instax cameras they are challenging as well but when you nail it, they look great (In particular the Lomography Square Glass, though also the most challenging to work with). I only have the MiNT TL70 for normal Instax but the level of control and precision on that camera produces some killer results. Then you have Fujifilm cameras themselves which are often uninspiring but at least are consistent, my 500AF being the most reliable performer of all my cameras while also being the most goofy looking.
    I really want to like this camera, love the design and would love to use some of my favorite vintage lenses, but for the money I'd rather just buy more instax packs and run them through the cameras I already have.

      What's the point of interchangeable lenses when the body itself can't make use of them properly? I admire the concept and the craftsmanship, don't get me wrong, I WANT it to work, but the results I've seen here and in other reviews just make it a very expensive gimmick even when compared to a basic Instax SQ1
