- DIY Tutorial: Toad and Toadette Mushroom Hats
MATERIALS:
Fabric
Yellow Ribbon
Cardboard
Scissors
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Stapler
Staples
Pencil
Ruler
Cotton
Styrofoam Balls (4 medium, 2 large)
STORES:
Dollar Tree
Walmart
Target
Hancock Fabrics
Joann's Fabrics
Fabric R Us
DIRECTIONS:
1) Buy all material
2) Measure your head and calculate the diameter and circumference
3) Draw a circle that matches your head onto cardboard
4) Cut the circle
5) Cut out a long strip of cardboard that is the circumference length of your head
6) Cut the strip of cardboard
7) Make the strip of cardboard flexible by rolling it against a table end/edge
8) Use the glue gun and glue sticks to glue the strip of cardboard and circle together
9) Cut out a large circle on fabric
10) Put cotton around and under the cardboard cylinder
11) Glue gun and staple the fabric onto the cardboard cylinder
12) Cut out circles on fabric for the mushroom cap
13) Glue gun the circles on the mushroom cap
Directions are the same for Toad and Toadette. Toadette requires the little pink braids.
DIRECTIONS FOR TOADETTE'S BRAIDS:
1) Glue gun the 3 styrofoam balls together (2 medium balls and 1 large ball)
2) Cut out a piece of fabric
3) Use the fabric to cover the 3 ball stack
4) Use rubber bands or thread to emphasize the 3 balls connections
5) Cut out circles of fabric for the big styrofoam ball
6) Glue gun the fabric circles on the big styrofoam ball
7) Glue gun and staple the loose ends of the fabric that is connected to the 3 ball stack to the mushroom cap

Fantastic, will attempt this! Did you use regular cardboard and did you bend by rubbing against table?

How much fabric did you buy to cover the hat(s)?
1 yard! I had a lot extra
Just try to remember that if it’s possible later on, you should try to build a Toad House.
