i only saw the show last year but ive been obsessed with the music since i can remember! i don't think anyone's prepared for how incredible the vocals are going to be, specifically we're going to hear ariana sing in a way we've never heard her sing before 😭
The “other witch” is Madame Morrible, played by Michelle Yeoh, and she’s the headmistress of Shiz University where Elphaba and Glinda go to school. Morrible teaches the two girls magic and is instrumental in the plot unfolding…
See the Broadway show if you can get there or get to a traveling production! You’ll LOVE. I’ve seen it twice. Phenomenal.

The reason why they have Dorothy in there is because in the broadway version they do touch up on what happens to Elpheba before, during and after dorothy came to Oz

ooh, if you guys dont mind breaking a bit further toward broadway i think you'd love hadestown! its a jazz/folk opera retelling of orpheus and eurydice. the poetry and lyricism of the show is so layered and beautiful- it's fascinating to take apart. im not crazy enough to ask for the full two hour cast recording lmao, and while the opening number is always a good place to start, the four songs from "Way Down Hadestown" to "Chant" are a solid hook into the music and main story!

for context this is like fully an extension of the wizard of oz. the first two acts are the backstory and lead up to the events of the wizard of oz which actually happen in this play aswell like beginning of act 3 if i remember correctly. and then the rest of the show is what happens after the events of the wizard of oz movie.
I'm so jealous that you haven't seen the show and get to experience this amazing story for the first time, with all its surprises and beautiful moments. You're in for a treat.

i was lucky enough to see wicked on broadway (not the one with idina and kristen) and it was INCREDIBLE
By the way, Cynthia Erivo has her debut album out CH1 VS1, y'all should check it out. It's INCREDIBLE!!!

Michelle Yeoh’s character is one of their teachers. Elphaba and Glinda are attending Shiz university and become roommates. Eventually their teacher discovers Elphaba’s magical abilities and is told if she can harness them she can meet and work with the wizard. Which eventually leads her and Glinda to the emerald city and it plays out until Dorothy arrives at Oz and the story you already know, The Wizard of Oz.

Very excited for this film. It’s gonna be different from the show (especially with splitting it in two full feature length films). Also I need to know where Jordan’s green top came from cause I want one so badly.
I knew this would be in the right hands with Jon M. Chu at the helm of it aka a lover of musical theater and master director. Cynthia will ruin us vocally and man am I excited for “for good” it will make me cry fs 🔥

Wicked is based on the musical that’s based on the book about Elphaba, a green skinned misunderstood girl who eventually becomes the Wicked Witch of the West and her friendship and rivalry with the girl who becomes Glinda the Good Witch. I will never forget my first experience of seeing the musical and seeing all the beautiful sets and the costume designs, as well as the amazing talented cast. And I had just recently saw it again this past Christmas as I was introducing it to a family friend, so I am so hyped to see this iconic story come to the screen! And ironically Emerald is my birthstone and the first musical I ever performed was the Wizard of Oz where I played Professor Marvel and the Wizard.
