Im probably one of the few dummies that enjoy being stuck behind slow moving farm equipment . It brings back some of the good memories from the old days.i always stay back far enough for the stupid people in a hurry to pass me then take their chances of passing the tractor or whatever im following . Plus hanging back that far lets the farmer know im in no hurry.plus it gives me more of a chance to enjoy the scenery

Out where I live we don't have farmers.. we have the opposite - logging trucks. It is best to get out of their way because they fly, cruising 65 in a 55 just to get those extra 1-2 loads in by the end of the day. I love 'em! Damn good business, damn hard workers and I am more then happy to share the road and give right of way to either farmers or loggers!

Had a similar thing happen when I was 16 a few years ago. I stayed out of the ditch, but I had to get new pants. Big jacked up pickup dick head, thought he'd pass me up a blind hill. Three separate skid marks from him, my tractor, and the car, proved our innocence. I'm afraid people will only get worse. I'm in middle of nowhere wisconsin. They're everywhere. Stay safe you guys.

Having the same problem in southeast Michigan. People drive to fast for road conditions, and tailgating. You have to be really careful making left turns into the fields too. When you slow down to turn they will try to pass when you turn.

    • @hturbo1007
      @hturbo1007 Před 6 lety +1

Dan W not only left turns but right turns also. One day a few years ago my brother was towing some wagons and he needed to turn right, so he had to swing left to get the wagons into the driveway and as he was doing so a car tried to PASS HIM ON THE RIGHT. He almost drove the wagons over the car.

Glad Tim is OK. People need to give these guys some room and respect on the road. Everyone is in too big of a damn hurry in most places or just plain couldn't drive if they had to. Every time I get on the road with a tractor, within minutes I have someone crammed under the ass end wanting to pass where they can't, so I pull off to the side and they go maybe 1/4 mile down the road and turn off. For the life of me I cannot understand what the hell is wrong with people like this. 20 years ago I didn't have much problems at all and now, it's dangerous running tractors and equipment down the road.

I'm glad Tim is okay. And you should see the bad drivers here in California. But on the other hand, some of the big farmers think they own everything and won't let you pass. The small farmers always let people pass. By the way, what is with the anvils. They are worth more than gold here. Small 100 pounders are over $300. I glad I was able to obtain one when I did (I got it at an auction and paid too much ). I hopefully will get my Dad's. Also, no matter how diligent you are about maintenance, something still gets over looked. But that is what winter is for, maintenance.

Dashcam in each tractor is great to catch idiots.
There are tool boxes that you can have on the front that functions as a counter weight, and also as a bumper to stop your tire from catching and climbing when you hit some thing/one.

Here in Iowa the former Bachelor of the Year, Chris Soules, rear ended a tractor and killed the 66 year old farmer driving it. He then was charged with "hit and run". The case still hasn't come to court and Soules lawyers are fighting the charge. Sadly, the farmer is still deceased, was married, a father of two and grand-father of three, a veteran and well thought of community member. Soules on the other.....meh. I'm thankful that Tim is safe. Machines can be repaired or replaced. People can't.

Got out of farming 30 years ago. When going down a road back then with the tractors we would pull over on the side when we got cars behind us to let them go by. Today they just don't pull over to let people by, maybe because all the mail boxes every 200' down the road. Good that nobody got hurt. I have saw to 2 people lose their lives running up into a combines and a tractor on the road in front of our house growing up, strait road. It is not that they are small and hard to see.

tractor would win of course but it'll still be damaged and shit isn't cheap to fix especially if something important gets bent/broken like an axle. also yes the truck driver would lie like hell(assuming he's alive) and worst case you now have a lawsuit to deal with on top of a broken tractor. i've been in Tim's exact situation many times, it's very common. all they can think about is that they are behind a slow tractor and they want around it as fast as possible with no fucks given how unsafe it might be to pass.

pull whats left of the belt off the 7810.. spin all the idlers the belt goes around. make sure they are NOT noisy.. have no wobble.. much easier to ID the failed or close to failed ones and replace them now.. you might also want to spin the fan idler.. make sure its not bent.. this is about 2 minutes worth of work.. verses downtime and hours of labor later.. ps.. do you or your parents have an pulse oxymeter.. device that clips over your finger and gives you your blood oxygen content.. check tim for reduced oxygen.. might have Carbon monoxide issues from the leaking exhaust..

Thank god Tim did'nt get hurt or an innocent person... If it was a tall driveway crossing the steering wheel could have broken his hand... 10 years ago the same thing happened to me and broke 2 fingers on my left hand and snapped the front axle... the guy actually stopped and called the police because he caused the accident... It was a 19 year old young MAN... I say man because he did'nt just drive on

Sky King Certainly has seat belts. I always wear them for road travel.

Glad Tim is ok. I’m sure the goof who cut him off didn’t stop to at least check and see if he was ok. Tim probably saved some lives by taking the ditch.

Why do I think this is a lifted white pickup, probably diesel.
Oh yeah, I've had a few problems with them too. There is more than on in this area though, usually some young kid.
At least tim made the best of it that he could, its a tough situation to be in.

We have them down here too. It's getting to be a danger just moving across the road to another field. Just wait: they'll make a law where we have to have a crew to lead and follow farm equipment every time its on the road; then (the idiots) will try and pass the whole possession.

Did he get the plate number?
Were the cops called? There certainly is enough damage to warrant calling the cops.

Good that ya ok Tim. Hope ya raised a finger salute to the driver who caused the issue? If it was a semi, was there a company number?

Damn, glad Tim is ok and not hurt. F'in aholes are around everywhere Wes, just not in your area. When it rains it pours, sorry Wes. Just breathe, take it easy and continue on. Things do tend to happen for a reason though. Cheers :)
