- In today's video, I use my Nikon D850 and the 16-35 f/4 lens to make some Infrared photos of some buildings in my area. This time I'm using my new Maven IR720 magnetic color coded filter. It's very nice to have an infrared filter that is magnetic. It makes it easy to remove the filter to focus and reinstall it for the shot. Highly recommended.
Side note: I said in this video that I liked Nick Carver's 16x7 work. It's actually 17x6. Whoops! No wonder my aspect ratio didn't look right. Oh well, now I can make some more shots of buildings.

Pretty cool effect Phil. Good to see the D850 in your hands. Thanks for sharing the adventure out 👍🙏
Thanks, Adrian!
Thanks Phil
@@PamHaynes-oo3ck thank you!
Great video Phil! You have piqued my interest in infrared filter photography. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always, must be really good the restaurant 👍
Thank you! I really like it.
Thanks for the video Phil! I have an IR filter I should break it out. I tend to shoot woodlands with IR but you have shown me it may be interesting on buildings. Thanks for the idea.
@@PhotoGearFun thank you!
Nice architecture photography! I'm always intrigued with infrared photography. I'm going to have to try it myself sometime.
Thank you! It's kind of tricky. Getting the exposure right can take a few long attempts and focus, if your filter is not magnetic, is a pain. One thing is certain, if you make a CZcams video about it. Not many will watch it! LOL :)
@@PhilThach If I get one it will definitely be magnetic. Surprised that people aren't watching!
My dream camera is a Nikon d850 with a 200-500 but for now am using a Nikon d800 with the 200-500 and it’s pretty close with the d800 with the image quality! Thank you Phil!
D800 with 200-500 should get you some great results.
@@PhilThach Yep!
I didn’t know this was a thing. Lol. You got me contemplating spending more money. Thanks for that. 😆
Thank you!
Nice shirt and lens cap.
I'll have to wait for a 50% off Mavin sale, though.
😉
Thanks! :)
Hey Phil, I love it! Ir is so much fun and helps one see the world in a different light. Any chance you’ve tried an IR filter on the Z100 to 400? I’m curious if there’s a hotspot and I haven’t seen the lens in any databases so far.
Thank you! I haven't tried it on that lens but I'll try to remember to give it a go when we return from vacation and report my findings here.
@@PhilThach have a good vacation!
How was the focus looking, we got taught IR focussed differently to standard light ? Stopped down lots helped 👍👍
I focused without the filter then made the shots with the filter and no changes to focus. They seem to still be in focus.
Hello from Poland. Which wildlife kit is better, Canon R7 or Sony A6700/ a7cii? Is there any significant difference in the quality of the photos? What would you choose now? I've seen previous videos and photos that look similar, but on YT there may be no difference.
Hi. I’m leaning toward the a6700 with their 200-800 over the R7 and 100-500 right now. I don’t recommend pairing the R7 with the new 200-800.
