Wanna feel old? Okay, Teen Titans was first aired nearly two decades ago.
Now that I've made you all feel old, this is my personal way of giving thanks to Glen Murakami and David Slack for creating such an amazing series based upon one of the most popular (of the time) comic book teams.
With five seasons worth of content to go through from 2003 to 2006, it's time to look back on this series and see the highs, lows and meddling middles of Teen Titans as they're ranked from worst to best, season by season and EVERY EPISODE is covered.

On the episode Terra, BB didn't tell Robin about her issues with controlling her powers. She just thought he had after Slade planted the idea in her head. It was pretty clear from the Slade conversation that she's afraid to trust anyone.

Season 6 is a myth made up by the internet over dissatisfaction with the ending.

I really liked some of the points you had for these episodes! My only thing is, episodes like Date With Destiny, Spellbound, The Beast Within, and etc, to me really show how the Teen Titans really are teens. They’re definitely silly/ooc in some ways, but I think they’re good at showing how insecurities, feelings, and vulnerability impact the gang in a more realistic way to everyday teens. Cause yeah, sometimes they’re gonna act out in ways that teens do. And honestly, with the way they live, they kinda deserve to lol. But again, your points were very valid.

If i have 1 gripe about season 2 as a whole, its that we didn't get more episodes between when she joins, and the heel turn. Seeing them interact more as actual teammates would've made the betrayal hit even harder. But thats just my opinion.

you got a few things wrong for the final episode that doesnt sit right with me. no, that was terra in the last episode, and she remembers. the dialogue tells you that.
"why do you keep calling me that? what makes you so sure?" a sane girl who knows that she objectively did not become a superhero wouldn't be so quick to question her memory or sanity, entertaining the possibility that its wrong. she says that because she wants to disuade beast boy from bothering her by suggesting that the reasoning that he thinks shes terra is weak and the endeavor is pointless.
"things were never the way you remember." pretty obvious.
"things change, beast boy." again, pretty obvious.
"the girl you want me to be is just a memory." if the girl was not terra, what makes her so sure of that? what makes her so sure of what beast boy remembers if she wasn't around? how does she even know what beast boy thinks of her with only their interaction in that episode?
it is strongly suggested that it is terra. any other girl wouldn't even have had as much patience and empathy for beast boy for their interactions to even last an entire episode. differing opinions from people working on the show, but pretty obvious in actuality.
the episode doesnt just depict depressing things that happen to beast boy and terra shortly after the titans return home, and its purpose isnt just to make people sad. the main conflict of the episode is in fact beast boy's crippling nostalgia that prevents him from doing his job as a superhero. however much it pains him, he has to resolve it, and moves on at the end of the episode.
your assessment of the episode aside, lots of what you said about the episode simply wasnt true.

    @josepha4161 Před rokem +6

I recently started rewatching the series and only finished 2 seasons (+ the first 2 episodes of S3) so far, but already can tell we have different tastes in some episodes. Every Dog Has His Day, A Date With Destiny, Sisters, Transformation and Switched are all decent to very enjoyable episodes to me. I don't foresee most of those hitting bottom 20 or at least not bottom 15 as I progress through the show. Conversely, I think you gave Winner Take All and Deep Six more credit than they're worth-- those will likely remain bottom 15 for me.
Both episodes have wack characterization imo. At the end of Winner Take All when Speedy comments "It was your drive to win that saved us" and Robin responds he wasn't fighting to win but fighting for his friends, it felt very undercut by all indications throughout ALL of his dialogue and reactions (even facial expressions) up to that point that it was a drive to win above all else. When he should have had an "oh sh1t, my friends are in serious danger and I put them in that danger" moment... he just uncharacteristically did not react that way and still treated it like it was a jovial competitive game after the big reveal. If they were aiming to convince us that Robin learned any sort of lesson or had any character growth with the way the episode was presented, then they completely failed at convincing the viewer. Other issues include how literally no other hero there besides Cyborg seemed at all suspicious of being randomly teleported to some alternate dimension by this creep asking them to fight. Nobody stopped to think "Who are you? How did you send us here? Why did you send us here?" They're all just that terribly naive and trusting that they accept these unprecedented circumstances from a weirdo at face value about it being a game for fun/prizes? They see nothing off about being sent there against their will? I find that very hard to believe. The Master of Games entire character and powers raise more questions than anything-- like if he could have done this at any time, why never before? Why only now is he absorbing heroes powers if he can randomly teleport heroes and absorb their powers like that freely? Why hasn't he been doing this for years and why doesn't he have any powers of heroes from the past?
I don't wanna delve too deep here, but the writing stood out to me as exceptionally flawed compared to every other episode I watched so far. A shame because it had very solid/fun fight scenes, to its credit. Deep Six had some writing issues too, but the bigger flaw with that one was just being an unenjoyable episode that didn't set up anything too well. Winner Take All had a good story concept (fighting competition among heroes) executed very poorly whereas Deep Six just had an uninteresting story concept done mediocrely. I'm all for showing off character flaws and growth, but sometimes it just seems forced, inorganic or makes a character too unlikable which kills the vibe of the episode. That's my take anyway.
As for the episodes I defended, I might just be biased in favor of Starfire centered episodes overall. I have to agree with you Sisters > Transformation when it comes to "Starfire overcoming insecurity" type of episode. Every Dog Has His Day, while far from perfect, felt like a much needed palette cleanser into Beast Boy's character compared to the previous BB focused episode (Deep Six-- which did not do his character justice at all). It had some decent gags too imo. I'm still curious how I'll enjoy the rest of the series. It's been so many years since I watched. No disrespect intended. It's an interesting ranking. This is just here if you want to read a complete stranger's thoughts on episodes lmao.

It seemed you didn’t too much like the silly episodes but honestly some of them weren’t as bad at least the ones where there’s character development even though I didn’t like Fractured that I agree with you and honestly TNMT 2012 and the 2003 that came out the same year as Teen Titans came out did a much better job with it’s story episodes and silly/cool down episodes much better I would say

Oh 100% on TMNT 2003, a lot of those episodes hold up well today imo. Teen Titans ones however, not as much, which is a shame given how amazing the rest of the series is.
That being said I do like Mad Mod's episodes for what it's worth so I don't think ALL the more silly episodes are bad, just "not my tempo" in a way.

    • @Skye2993
      @Skye2993 Před rokem

@@ChloeSunfloraVA Yeah it’s like that old saying goes humor is subjective and I think it mainly boils to a lot of the silly episodes in Teen Titans feeling a little like the same with one another they’ll have a chase for half the episode then beat the villain at the end or some ya know repeating itself over and over especially with the chasing bit and not to mention the characters act like the previous super serious episode didn’t happen like with Terra she only existed in her episodes and Fractured was poorly placed so the team and especially Beast Boy just forgot Terra betrayed them pretty badly, I mean I don’t want them to be super edgy or dark I like lighthearted episodes and fun times but come on you guys literally almost died from a so called friend betraying you and next episode is obnoxious Robin with no mention of Terra like at all.
I’ll use the TMNT 2012 as an example the reason I actually like the silly episodes there is because they don’t forget what happened in the previous episode so like while it’ll be a wacky adventure their still showing that the characters are continuing the season arc through their actions or dialogue like for example in season 2 Donnie was making retro mutagen for April’s dad being a mutant, now just because we were getting a silly episode doesn’t mean the characters just straight up act like previous episode didn’t happen Donnie was still working on it at the beginning of the episode and not to mention it had a lot of episodes in each season.
Which I think Teen Titans could’ve benefited from so these season arcs could really have time to develop or so the silly ones didn’t feel like they were breaking the pace and I would say because it was early 2000’s but Tmnt 2003 was out so there was no excuse if they could do it Teen Titans could had as well and Teen Titans had less episodes to work with so they definitely should’ve taken the Tmnt route.

one thing i don't really like about teen titans is the titans don't have a no-frills battle with the H.I.V.E. 5 in either of their post-S3 forms and the H.I.V.E. 5 in general don't really do too much in the series after that
    - any fights season 3 and before only have the H.I.V.E. Trio with Gizmo, Mammoth, and Jinx
    - Mother Mae-Eye has the Titans with goofy handicaps that lets the H.I.V.E. completely steamroll them
    - Lightspeed has the H.I.V.E. against Kid Flash instead of the Titans. I really like this episode anyways but still

Well, I think we have a different viewpoint of this series, seeing how drastic some changes in my rankings would be (I will be listing how many places up/down an episode goes compared to your list, with "=" meaning that there was no change):

    4.-) Deception (-1).
5.-) Bunny Raven (+7): Is it dumb? Yes. Is it fun? Also yes. Sometimes, dumb fun is good fun.
6.-) Revolution (+1): Love it, but I could also do without the USA propaganda.
    7.-) The Beast Within (+2).
    8.-) Spellbound (-3).
9.-) Wavelenght (-3): I just find it forgettable.
    10.-) Crash (=).

    - Season 4:
    1.-) The End (=).
    2.-) The Prophecy (+1).
    3.-) Birthmark (+2).
    4.-) The Quest (+2).
5.-) Troq (-3): It is too heavy-handed with its message.
6.-) Employee of the Month (+2): Just some dumb old fun.
    7.-) Mother Mae Eye (+4).
    8.-) Don't Touch That Dial (+1).
    9.-) Cyborg The Barbarian (-2).
    10.-) Stranded (=).
    11.-) Overdrive (-7).
    - Season 5:
    1.-) Titans Together (=).
    2.-) Calling All Titans (+2).
3.-) Go! (=): This is what the series first episode should have been.
    4.-) Trust (-2).
    5.-) Homecoming (=).
6.-) Things Change (+5): Albeit the way they deliver the message can be heavy-handed, I do believe it is a good message. Also, BB had no way to know that "Terra" wasn't lying to him when she said that she's not Terra.
    7.-) Snowblind (+1).
    8.-) Lightspeed (+1).
9.-) Hide and Seek (+3): It is so relatable to see Raven having to deal with the same problems I had to deal with with my niece.
    10.-) Kole (-4).
11.-) Revved Up (-1): Even when it is second to last of this season, I don't consider it a terrible one at all. If anything, I love this episode with all the hijinks it has and how little it cares about making sense.
    12.-) For Real (-5).
Overall, what I can get from this is that meanwhile you have a low tolerance for an episode that is just dumb fun, I like those kinds of episodes and prefer them over an annoying, forgettable and/or nasty episode.

Teen Titans great show but their villains were often one-offs and them getting brought back in Season 5 after Trigon didn't help. Teen Titans did have quite a bit of hit or miss shows. Minor point but Teen Titans isn't part of the DCAU. Control Freak could be absurdly OP as he gets the abilities of characters from shows so he could just have the powers of: Flash, Superman, Darkseid, Trigon, Lobo, Magneto, Apocalypse, toons, etc. Would've been better if the series ended with Raven's arc and Trigon as Season 5 was a letdown compared to Raven's arc

And have all of the honarary titans team up against Trigon and have Trigon round up every single villain in the show, especially the brotherhood of evil, Slade, Brotherblood, and even black fire, to have every single character that was ever on the show for one massive showdown.
