GODDAMN the West End orchestra is no joke. I fully expect the movie’s sound to have the exact same depth, clarity, and power as this one- I mean, listen to those unwavering trumpets and double bass. This is how Defying Gravity should sound every time at every production in the world!
    UPDATE: two movies!

Needs horns on the "tell them how I am defying gravity" though!

@@atolee704 that’s true. You can’t beat those French horns. One of the only aspects the Munchkinland tour does better than any other production.

The Broadway company doesn’t have the same voicing in final note. There is very little lower voicing (in the orchestra) on Broadway whereas here we get all the juicy bottom notes. It’s fire.

Helen's acting during the last beats of DG is just phenomenal to me. Her Glinda is aware that she made her decision and has to side with the Ozians, but tries to reach out to her friend in the last millisecond before the blackout. A true "blink and you'll miss it" acting choice that adds so much to her characterization!

I've read all the comments and I've seen lucie live 3 times now. I've also watched this clip back 4 or 5 times and I'm giving my honest opinion based on that. She is good and she clearly has her fans but she is still in my opinion inferior to others I've seen, I'm talking specifically Jessica Vosk, Rachel tucker, Alice Fearn & Laura pick. She is however only 2 months into the role so plenty of time to grow I just personally feel however she still falls short of the wow factor but still very good

  • @thatbrazilianchap

I find her voice to lack depth and tonality to give a dark tone to the role... or maybe I have Rachel Tucker too inprinted on my mind as reference.
