Sammy! God, I looove this character! It was such a pleasure to vid him! When I finished the video it was like "oooh...that's it..". But to tell the truth it was a first time for a long time when I was sure in what I'm doing. Usually I have a lot of doubts and not always satisfy with the result, but this time it all came out as it was in my head.
In the beginning I showed how Sam tried to resist his destiny, all this "chosen one" and stuff. Next I tried to show how all the circumstances were pushing him to the wrong path. Of course I couldn't not to add Dean's scenes at all, because I just can't imagine them without each other. I made scene from 4x22 my culmination, because I see it as a peak of all Sam's mistakes. From the season 5 all he tries to do is to be better. So next I showed the opposite - scene of sacrifice in 5x22 and next the cost of his choice, all these horrible things that happened to him, as a price which he had to pay to be who he wanted to be. And in the end I added the scenes with his right deeds to show that no matter what - he fought against destiny. I added the last line of the lyrics, because I think it sums up Sam's story pretty well. Urh, I really hope it's all more clear from the video and not my description.
I know that I could add so much more quotes, but the lyrics is a wondeful story by itself, so I added a few just to show the direction of my thought.

I love Sam and Dean but I think Sam doesn't get as much credit as he should, everybody talks about how much Dean has on his shoulders but what about Sam. Sam has been through so much and he's still standing. Also people think about how Dean always looks after Sam always, but Sam would do the same for him and loves his just as much. But i love them both equally. Sam is so strong and has a lot of weight to carry on his shoulders and there is no doubt on my mind that he has enough more that enough strength to carry it.

I agree too. This is a great video and people usually give Dean more credit but Sam is just as good a character
+Tina Khashogji In Dean's defense, he has shown multiple times that he could not and will not fight Sam, where if provoked or reminded, Sam will attack Dean on his own accord. Dean has brought back Sam from the dead multiple times, gone through hell to get his soul back and risk his soul and life for his little brother. Both times Dean has been dead, Sam hasn't brought him back or tried very hard at all to bring back Dean. He has looked for ways but never went through with them. This is why I think Dean has most of the credit, in my opinion.
+Nightcore Noelle yes I agree, I completely understand, and I love Dean so much, maybe even more than Sam. But being Sam the little brother in my opinion it's hard for him in so many ways to have so much on his shoulders and I understand why Dean gets more credit than him, but I always think about how Sam is the younger one and had so much on him, like the guilt of everything he has done and the pain that he has to walk around with all the time and being the Devils vessel and the demon blood and the apocalypse, as well as the trials and saving his brother and yes I was extremely upset when Sam didn't look for him in season 8 but I think there were reasons why. For example Crowley told Sam that he was now and truly completely alone so I think he assumed Dean was dead and in heaven so maybe that's why and he may have hit that dog because he was driving drunk because of Dean being dead and maybe deep down he wanted to crash and die to be with him. I'm not saying it's true, I like to think
Tina Khashogji Yeah, Sam does have a lot to deal with, especially living in Dean's shadow and as you said, the demon blood and being Lucifer's vessel. I like that idea, even though it is pretty depressing.
This song was obviously written for Sam because it fits him so perfectly. It shows how hard he tries but never succeeds. I feel like Sam is the most underrated character in the show. He really has a burden on his shoulders from all of his mistakes. Personally Sam is my favorite because I see how hard he tries to be a good person and make the best of all the bad situations the brothers go through. I love this edit and honestly believe you are one of the best editors here in the Supernatural family, Great Job!

I both agree and disagree with you. The best way to describe Sam, is as a martyr. Throughout his entire life, Sam always stood for what he believed in, even if it meant sacrificing himself. As a result Sam was always the most virtuous of the brothers and of all the characters on the show, as well as the most complex character. Everything he ever did, even to drink the demon blood, came from a utilitarian aetiological level of reasoning, as he understood that drinking the demon blood, was requisite to defeat evil, as the power and ability to do so lay solely in him. That was always the point of SPN, Sam, the chosen boy with the demon blood.
Sam understood that at times, we are coerced to make hard decisions, even morally questionable ones, if it means to bring about the greater good. Therefore for me, Sam never really made a mistake, he always made the right decision based on the information he had available to him at the time, and Sam's decisions were always founded upon his desire to save people and bring about the greater good - even if it be via defiance.
This willingness to sacrifice for what he believed in, this martyrdom, is by default accompanied by a profound sense or responsibility and this was always the issue. Sam always placed the burden of all responsibility solely on himself, even when it was not his fault. Sam's enormous sense of accountability was so immense, that he took upon himself the faults of others and became the punching bag of every other character in the show, who failed to take responsibility of their own short comings. Sam the martyr always had to bare all.
One example is how he was blamed for the apocalypse, even though Dean was the one who broke the first seal by torturing souls in hell and thoroughly enjoying it for 10 years. Dean not only never holds himself accountable for his involvement in the apocalypse, but he also barely addresses how easily he had succumb to torturing souls in hell and worse yet enjoying it. Dean instead chose to burden his brother for the apocalypse and Sam, as a true martyr, always accepted that responsibility, even though everyone wanted to kill Lillith and no one knew that killing Lillith _was_ the last seal. In fact, Dean wanted to be the one to kill Lillith and as such made an agreement with Zacariah to do so. Yet when Sam did so, as he was guided to do so by the angels and the demons, he was villaimzed by all, for doing what was agreed upon by all. Yet he took that blame and never defended himself.
Sam did the exact same thing when he got his soul back in season 6. He took full responsibility and apologised for all deeds he committed, even though he was not actually the one who had committed the acts. He was in the deepest gate of hell being ripped to shreds by the devil himself for 1000 years, yet upon having his sould returned to his body, he was immediately villainzed by Bobby and had to apologise for acts he quite literally, did not commit. This was the first thing he did upon returninh from hell, you know, where he was after sacrficing himself to save the planet. Yeah. Bobby apparently found Sam's souless behaviour unforgivable. What a dick.
Even at this point, we see the deeply virtuous and moral empathy and intelligence that Sam possesses, however to his detriment. This is why, and I repeat, he became the punching bag. However Sam was always the most righteous in the end and so to synopsize, he had not made mistakes, he always took the most rational and righteous path.
Sam is just a phenomenal character.

the way he says "they're purifying me" breaks my heart because you can just see it in his eyes just how relieved he is that it's all over, the feeling of being not good enough and unclean and worthless and he's suffered with it so long and he believes he can finally scrub it clean and it never happens but you just KNOW that even all these years later Sammy still believes that he is dirty and he does not deserve that !!!
This is why Sam is the most complex, fascinating, strongest and the most righteous character in the entire show. Dean does not even come close.
The show was meant to be about the trails and tribulations of Sam the protagonist- the chosen one. The boy with the demon blood, who's free will and defiance, the same defiance he fought against his father, was the same defiance and free will he used to defeat Lucifer.

I know Sam is a strong character his just as good as Dean, everyone seems to love Dean but Sam is also great he has done wrong but he has always tried to save his brother and sure he has made mistakes but Dean has too, I love both of them equally but Sam seems to not get the attention that he deserves.

Wow. This video is every reason why I love Sam so much. You did such a good job and you captured his determination to be good and not be tainted by yellow eyes, Ruby, Lucifer and his struggles in the trials. I think with somebody as sensitive and full of heart as Sam it's hard for some people to see how strong he really is and you managed to really make that shine in this video. I want you to know, I went a whole 5 years without watching Supernatural. I stopped at season 10 and I never looked back. But then, one fateful day, I was listening to Mumford and Sons and I thought about this song and this video, and how well this song capture's Sam's journey ... and I found myself on CZcams searching for this video. Then I watched it, and I watched another and another and now I'm all caught up on season 15 and I've restarted the series
So what I'm trying to say it ... in a way, it's your fault.
I see your arguments here man, but if you think about it, it's actually mumford&sons' fault, because it's them who write songs which really remind of sam or dean, so without them this video wouldn't exist in the first place. So I think we should unite against our common enemy and together we can end this outrage

Woah, this was so exciting! I was literally on the edge of my seat. You showed Sam's journey so perfectly, and I love how you contrasted his darkness with his search for purity. I remember the scene where he talked about feeling impure as a child - it was one of the most shocked and touching scenes in the whole series for me. This video is like a visual representation of that. Beautiful.

Brilliant concept for the video! I love how you actually go deeper into Sam's story and analyze his arc like you did. And that quote at the end, spot on choice! Of course, I don't really know what exactly will happen beyond S5 since I've only watched until that far lol...but everything you put into the video is already apparent across Sam's story throughout the first 5 seasons. Again, great video!
