I really appreciate the idea of one a month to rework something from the wardrobe that's not working well. A great way to work through the pile! 😊
You have to keep things realistic sometimes - one a month feels realistic!
You could use a tapered dart to reposition the shoulder placement
Love it. It’s how I’ve always handled clothes I don’t wear or clothes that don’t fit. Just turned a dress into a simple skirt because the dress didn’t fit and it sat unworn for 2 years. Going to wear it to church today
Double Gauze is lovely as pj's or a little shorts and t shirt set.
I think it's a great idea to refashion the fabric because it means you can still wear the pretty fabric. My wardrobe is very sparse so I'm sewing to actually wear things. I'm using a capsule wardrobe guide to help me decide what exactly to make so that I can actually wear the things. At the moment it's things for Autumn (when it actually gets here) and stretchy comfy clothes as I'm having major surgery this week and won't be driving myself (or the family) anywhere much for about 4 weeks. So it's stretchy things as in loungewear and then whilst I'm healing, I can sewing things like jeans, t-shirts, finish the Jenna shirt and Jenna shirtdress and all the pretty things. Because the capsule I work with is six months ahead, it means I can work on Autumn, Winter and Spring to fill the wardrobe and have it working cohesively with my True summer colours etc.
That sounds so great! I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe but I get far too excited by all the things!!
What a great vlog with plenty to think about. I look forward to seeing your remakes.
Splendid idea your shirt looks great. I would make a pair of PJ shorts for myself out of the double gauze if your daughter does not like the idea of a dress. Thank you
Great idea. I have already looked at all my blouses and made adjustments where necessary so now they get worn. Hurrah!
Great blouse .. it looks amazing on you.. great colour too.. My 6 yr old granddaughter hates knickers of any kind.. They all itch.. good luck with Mias dress
I love the idea of fixing things I am not wearing! The Kauri Dress by Below the Kowhai Patterns might be one for Mia, it's exactly like what you described!
Great vlog as always I hate fixing clothes but it really is a great idea ❤❤
Bravo on the culott transformation! That is a beautiful blouse on you!
Brilliant idea! I have loads of unworn items I have made. Some need just little adjustments - I just don’t ever get round to doing it. I am going to aim to do one a month like you. Honest 😮
Great idea! I have a small double wardrobe so don't have space for clothes I don't wear. Did you know that most charity shops will accept fabric that isn't good enough to sell on? Ours gives us different bags to put it in, and we take a large bag of scraps to them per month on average. They sell them on, and we keep linen separate as they get more money for that. Thanks for the nudge to change garments up if I love the fabric but don't wear the clothes :)
Ooh I didn’t know that, I’ll have to find out if my local ones do that too. Thank yoi
This is such a great idea to streamline your wardrobe and eventually only wear what you love! I *really* need to do the same, as my wardrobe is also groaning under the strain of so much fabric, much of which I no longer wear or want for various reasons. I really love what you did with your trousers, your blouse is gorgeous! And for the beautiful blue dandelion fabric, would your daughter wear trousers or, as already suggested, shorts and a top?
Thank you so much for sharing your video and providing some much needed inspiration! 🙏💜
Thank you so much, it really felt very cathartic do streamline my wardrobe so I definitely recommend it
Yes I love this idea and look forward to seeing your alterations or transformations. Your blouse looks lovely and I agree with all you’ve said about facings they are a nuisance for me too Xxxx❤
Thank you so much, oh man I don’t know what it is about facings, just can’t get on with them
For the shoulder fit, this is where I will throw in an after the fact pleat or two to draw things in and add visual interest. Looks fabulous though! So good to get more use from that stunning fabric.
Your blouse is lovely ...what about making PJ's for your daughter out of the fabric ....😊
Love the ideas! ❤The blouse is beautiful, and i agree with other comments here about putting a pleat in the shoulder to lift the shoulder cap (i, too, have narrow shoulders so i know the problem 😂). This would mean the blouse wouldn't gape at the front, and you wouldn't have to keep, lifting the blouse up to sit comfortably. I've refashioned garments - both handmade and RTW.
I am looking forward to what you make with your clothes, and hopefully, you can make something that your daughter will wear. 🤷🏼♀️
Chalk and Notch Mini patterns for Mia?
Great patterns - I made one for her in a double gauze last summer... barely worn!! 🤣
Hmm. Then check out Sinclair patterns Kids. They have very interesting children's patterns, but mostly for knits.
Something's in the air, I had a skip last week and now have actual empty draws and not a single pair of jeans.
@@SewHayleyJane I feel so much better for it, amazing how much Stuff you end up accumulating over the years which is just kept because it may be useful someday. It never is, you just look at things thinking 'why on earth would I buy a plastic egg slicer?'
Well done on refashioning that beautiful fabric, I made mine into a SOI Annie blouse which I wear all the time, not only is it a great print but is a wonderful quality viscose. 💙🧶🌈🍓
Several years ago, I got inspired by a youtuber called coolirpa to do "thrift flips" where you find something from a charity shop and make something new from it, but I like your mission to reuse old sewing projects, as otherwise it can be quite hard to find things where the fabric quality is good enough.
