I love it beacause it's pretty funny to learn. Freaking hard for me, but funny and entertaining. :3
One day I will be able to speak it fluently '^'/
That's my dream, too. I'd love to be able to speak with my wife's family, they're awesome. How's your progress? Are you still in Viet Nam?
@Paul Gianni Woah! its awsome that your learning for your wife! I'm trying because, for way too long, ive neglected learning my literal native tongue 😭
There are some resemblance in the counting of words:
1. Mot (One) is similar to Cambodian Muon (One).
2. Bon (Four) is similar to Cambodian Buon (Four).
3. Sau (Six) is actually Hundred in both Hindi-India and Urdu-Pakistan.
4. Tam (Eight) is somewhat similar to Berber-Morocco counting of Tam (Eight).
i was expecting it to sound like cantonese or hokkien (like thai) but vietnamese sounds totally different except for 'zero' - khong which is the same in hokkien

In Thai, 9 is the lucky number.
In Vietnam, 6 and 8 represents happiness and wealth.
In Japan, 4 is the unlucky number.
Each of us had their own superstition.
@N All the words you mentioned are Sino-Vietnamese loanwords actually, in Chinese culture, number 4 and 7 are also unlucky, 6 and 8 are also good. Loc/Lu is 祿 (fortune), Phat/Fa is 發 (flourish). Tu/Si is 死 (death) and 7 is 去 (to depart)
@@YummYakitori And the number 9 can symbolise something to be long-lasting or longevity.
Em chào chị ạ kênh của chị rất hay và ta nghĩa ạ em mong chị ra thêm
As a Chinese person, I used to think Vietnamese sounds like the Chinese province dialect in China-Vietnam border. After this video, I realize I was totally wrong. None of Vietnamese number sounds like the dialect of the Chinese province next to Vietnam!!!
I want to ask what is the name of the beginning music? Thank you
Ed Pang four years and still didn’t get an answer

what is difference between xin hoi and xin loi
Xin hoi used when you want to ask questions but be afraid to disturb the respondents like when you use excused me to begin conversations. And "xin loi" like sorry when you do something wrong.
So xin hoi is like 'excuse me' and xin loi is like 'im sorry' , right?
I had to learn this in kindergarten...

Do you teach chu nom
+FierceDeity YuJam (James) what do you need that for, it's freaking harder than modern Vietnamese and Chinese combined .

+이현진 no its not Sino-Vietnamese is gonna be
Nhất
Nhị
Tam
Tứ
Ngũ
Lục
Thất
Bát
Cửu
Thập
and believe me, nobody use those Sino-Vietnamese numbers.
+Dat Nguyen cái đó là tiếng Hán bn
Yen Huy Sino-Vietnamese là tiếng Hán-Việt
The same as you Korean guys in written Hán tự (hanja) and nearly same in pronounciation. In the past we used traditional chinese to write them in Hán Việt (漢越), here we have 一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十 (pronounciations mentioned in Dat Nguyen's comment), and also bách (백 - 百), thiên (천 - 千), vạn (만 - 萬), ức (억 - 億)... Nowaday this numbering system is not used widely like before, but we still use bách, thiên, vạn and ức in some work fields, situations and contexts (in History, accounting and building constructings...). If you know and use these words you'll surprise lots of Vietnamese people.
hello . tao là người Việt Nam. is Vietnamese

I'm Vietnamese so this is very easy lol
This sound from Japan not vietnam
aside from global imperialism, why we ever went to war with such a rich country is eons beyond me. thanks uncle sam for making us free from vietnam...
The US was invited several times to help with the French occupation that lasted after France sent troops to defend Viet Nam from Japan. The man, a resident of Nghe An Province, known by many names who invited the US intervention, eventually became Ho Chi Minh, 'Uncle Ho' or 'Bác Hồ' in Vietnamese. Today, a Vietnamese person addressing somebody who's older will assign the title of aunt or uncle depending on the person's gender.
Cảm ơn rất nhiêu
