I'm 54 years old so believe me when I say, Michael was my absolute favorite. But he wasn't a better dancer than a lot of dancers out there. The beauty of Michael is how he made us feel... It was the entire package of Michael that is made him bigger than life... A God. He was mediphorical... But Michael was never the best dancer of any era. Why is MJ's songwriting talent always overlooked or denied when he is compared to other artists? They always do the same thing when they want to say that another artist is better than MJ. If you knew or admitted that many of MJ's hits were written by him, you wouldn't make the comparison. We are talking about Billie Jean, Beat It, Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, Earth Song, Heal The World, etc. We can't continue to deny MJ's songwriting talent, it is perfectly documented how he wrote and composed his songs. It is just a matter of research, the information is there, the evidence is there. If only people would inform themselves before they speak...

Yeah, well a lot of his writing wasn't all that great and it surely wasn't consistent. Prince had some great album cuts, but not as many hits due to that lack of consistency, thus he could never remain in the mainstream the way Michael did.
That's not to say mainstream opinion is always the standard, but Michael had consistent quality production and writing that ensured he stayed ahead of Prince, and people love consistency.
Also, Prince ran off a LOT of talent over the years. Michael literally did the exact opposite and put a lot of people on through sampling, production and writing. Teddy Riley, Darkchild, SWV, hell he even gave Rockwell a song that made him famous.
Meanwhile, Prince gave rise to The Time, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the S.O.S. Band, and on and on and on. His fragile ego couldn't take anyone being better than him within his circle and acted like a P. Diddy of the 80s.
So in case you haven't figured it out, I'm not a big Prince fan. I love Diamonds and Pearls and the Most Beautiful Girl in the World. Otherwise, you can keep the rest of his catalog. I gravitated to MJ at a younger age when I was in dance but as I got older, I found myself leaning more towards Prince with his lyrics, the composition of his music and his performance. But I think it comes down to personal preference.

You just have never explored Michael beyond the Bad album - homeboy could draw like a m'fer, wasn't necessarily an athlete but joined up with the greatest athlete of all time (the other MJ) , same with one of the greatest rappers of all time (Biggie on Michael's song "This Time Around") (and then Shaq on "2 Bad") and Michael's ultimate goal was to act (he starred with it in "The Wiz" with Diana Ross and Nipsey Russell in 1979) but he was recording the Off The Wall album at the tune and it took off in a way that we couldn't even imagine - but Michael just lived in a time where all of these aspects couldn't be explored in the way that they are now because of social media - but don't get me wrong, he did all that he did in the time that he had - you're just not educated enough about it
