- Power 7 - I'm sending 23gr slugs at 1000fps.
Power 0 - I'm shooting JSB Hades at 910fps.
Shoots both very accurately. A turn of the power wheel and 8 clicks on the Element Helix Scope is all I need to do to switch back and forth between my favorite slug and my favorite pellet. 👍 - Zábava

I was thinking of setting up my ordered FX Wildcat MIII BT compact just like this! But Ted has already done this years ago! I'd have the slugs for hunting heavier vermin in the back yard and the JSB Hades for bird busting! I didn't see this particular video until today. Thanks Ted! Saving me a lot of time and expense because you've already done the testing and tuning work!

Ted thanks for the tips! I have the sniper variant shooting H&N barracudas 21.14gr 5.52mm at just over 900fps at my Power 1.
Shot it indoors to zero everything out and I was able to stack 5 pellets in a quarter inch hole at 50 yards and that opened to just under an inch at 100 yards. Though my support wasn't the best.
I love having so many shots out of the bigger bottle.
Getting in some slugs soon to test out as well.

Love the content on your channels. I'am almost new into pcp airgun shooting. I bought an Avenger last year for just trying.learnt a lot from you and few other guy on CZcams already. I'm up for an upgrade an and it would be Wildcat BT or the Maverick. Will be decided when I have them in hand.
iI have this question: will the shotcount be higher if the adjusting wheel being turn down from 7 to 1 or is it only turning down the regulator there give more shotcount.

Ted , bought the same gun and I’m not getting the power the hades are at power 2 and are shooting at 863 to 865 ? Reg is at 145 it’s shooting the NSA 20.2 at power 7 @ 985 to 990 any thought love your videos keep up the good work.

I think I've discovered why some of us are not getting the same results. Check your hammer weight. Some (like mine) shipped with the 7 gram hammer weight. Some are shipping with an 11 gram weight. I'm betting anything that Ted's has the 11 gram hammer weight. The little 7 gram weight if fine for .177 and 22 pellets, but it just cannot handle slugs.

Ted I have a tough decision. I'm looking to purchase a (BT?) wildcat for shooting barn pest in .177. I would like hunt with the same wildcat in .22 using pellets and slugs at distance (70 - 100) yards. Which wildcat or other fx bullpup would you recommend for this purpose? Thanks
Thank you for all you do. You have really helped move this industry forward. Does the hammer wheel adjustment keep spinning past 7, and 1, seems to turn indefinitely. Is that normal? Only had for one day seems wrong to me
it has steps, so 7 to one puts you back at 1.
You may know the answer to this. My AGT Vulcan 3 ( 25 cal ) sounds as if the hammer spring is super loud. Other TY vids seem that their hammer spring is not as loud. I mean it's a very loud "sproing." I understand my chin rest is right over the hammer, but I wonder if something should be adjusted?

Mr Ted my Maverick is leaking I know it’s an easy fix I’m good at figuring things out I’m just a little intimidated on my expense gun. Problem the screw under the bottle reg fell out I put it back in but now it doesn’t hold. Do I replace the small o rings on the adjustment screw?

Awesome videos ted. Any idea why my new mark 3 impact will not hold zero from day to day? I will zero at 30 yards shooting hole for hole. Then next day shoots 1 inch low …….. same tin of pellets and i have eliminated scope issues swapping from a leupold to nightforce.
The weather and temperature have a lot to deal with that, and if you yake it from inside your house to outside, let the air temp in the bottle adjust
FX should send you a Dream Tac Compact BT to play with. They are a lot of fun.

How about a echo tune for more shots like a jsb 18.13 at about 880 to 910 fps will that work for backyard shooting can we see a video on that on shot count at that power level thanks Ted.

Thanks Ted. I might go with the 600mm barrel, that should give me more top end without going all the way to the 700mm. Any pros or cons to going with the 25 cal over the 22? In other words is there any difference in slug accuracy between the 22 and 25
My experience: The .25 is a bit less accurate (slugs) than the .22. My .25 700mm M3 Impact shoots Nielsen 29.0gr, 29.5gr, and 34.9gr pretty good. 1.5” at 100 yards. That said, my .25 slightly outshoots my .22 when I’m sending pellets. And finally, I KNOW several .25 ammo innovations are in the pipeline from multiple companies. That’s all I can say without pissing someone off. 😁

Hey Ted, just took delivery today of this exact gun. I love it right out the box as far as looks and feel, but having some real reg problems. Velocities are ALL OVER the place and it really feels like sticky regs. Very familiar with the adjustments and operation as I own a maverick compact. With 23 grain NSAs im maxing out at 840fps. But it will all of a sudden drop almost 100fps on a shot after every few shots. Should I let it "break in" or should I send this thing back in your opinion?
100fps spread would certainly be a issue, either with the gun or the chronograph. First thing I would do is test another gun (if you have one). I would also pay attention to the sound (pitch). The gun would sound considerably different between those two velocities. If it does turn out to be the gun, it may be a simple fix, such as: a loose or misaligned pellet probe, or a bad breech o-ring. Have a go with those trouble-shooters then get back at me. 👍
@@HoldOverVlog thanks Ted. After going through all the simple stuff(probe, breach seal, hammer spring, etc) and talking with Bin at TPS as well as Newman at FX US , shes going in for warranty repair. Definitely something goofy with the reg/regs/valve. Im also going to have them throw in a heavier hammer, maybe even the slug probe. Both FX us and TPS have killer customer service. Appreciate your replies and help too! Can't wait to get it back in a month or so and stretch its legs!

My WC barrel fouls pretty quick shooting slugs at around 920 fps. Tuning it the way you do must aggravate that situaltion. After 100 shots, mine sprays slugs all over the place. What is your experience, Ted?
Did you say the Wildcat MK3 has a double regulator? Do all MK3 have this or is it just on the MK3 BT?

Yes. The wheel will turn very easily when it is uncocked.
What liner are you using?
How in the world did u get yours to 145 bar on the reg? I can't get mine past 130 bar. Worried the screw is backed to far out

Apparently you have some say with FX but the Maverick and the Wildcat are not legal in Canada due to the removable bullpup. Why doesn’t FX try to make some alterations so the bullpup not removable and make it legal for Canada?

You have a lot of good info,, But can ANYONE explain why the Maverick Mark-3 has a 89cc plenum for less money when the Impact M3 only has 72cc,, I thought the newest impact was supposed to be their TOP Gun for Power? And is there major pros and cons to each gun besides price? Thx.✌️🇺🇲
Short answer: the maverick is a simpler gun. Uses less materials. Faster to build. The maverick hammer is under the chin. The impact’s hammer is forward - under the scope. The impact is also shorter because the rear block only needs to hold the probe (not the hammer and spring). the impact magazine fixes under the rear block, and can be set up for lefties because the cocking lever can be on either side. Finally, the magazine won’t get in the way of a left cheek piece because it is under the block. The capacity of the impact magazine is nearly double that of the maverick, wildcat, and crown.
@@HoldOverVlog Okay thanks for your answer, I guess the larger impact mag won't fit in the other FX guns and the 72cc plenum must have more technology and expense to get those huge shot count numbers along with high power. Thanks again, keep up the good work.✌️
Also know that plenum size is a big part of power, but not everything. The Impact has more room for its valving and efficiency of air flow than the Maverick / Wildcat. Hope that helps

I know this may be a reach but anyway you can do a guide video on tuning the impact m3 for .22 cal , I really want to get as much shot per fill but still enough fpe to kill small game

My Maverick compact. 22 couldn't reach those speeds with his hammer weight .
I changed it with heavier (11.5 grams), and now I can easily reach those speeds.
Very very true. I can't get those speeds with the stock hammer. It's just too light for setting the reg at higher pressures. Installed the heavy hammer that comes with the slug kit on my compact mk3 bt and I'm only able to squeeze 980fps at the most with the 23 grain Javelins. I know every rifle is different, but there is NO way he is using the stock hammer. I'm maybe getting one magazine and a half shot count.

@@arubino19 Yes, its on the slug port. I never use the standard/pellet port. Since my last post, I went up to the 600mm barrel and have the heavier hammer/pin probe installed. Now, I'm getting the numbers Ted was getting. 1st Reg is at 170-175, 2nd reg at 145-150.... The oem gauge is terrible and very difficult to read. I've ordered some Sekhmet digital gauges. The BT in compact form is just not a slug gun. Great for pellets. If you want to make it a slug gun, you will have to go with a longer barrel and heavier hammer.
@@Fernando_Woolybooger my BT gets delivered tomorrow. I previously had the first gen mk3 compact and had fantastic results with slugs. They don’t need to reach 1,000 fps always.I was shooting them at 920-930fps (23gr NSA) with fantastic results. And that was with stock probe and hammer. It’s definitely not a long range 150 yard plus setup, but works great inside of that.
@@arubino19 Excellent advice. I'll re-visit my compact setup and tame it down to the speeds you mentioned. What diameter NSA's did yours like? Mine likes the .2175's and I'm waiting on some .218's to try. I also think my hammer isn't adjust correctly and I'm wasting air. Even with putting a 580cc bottle on, I'm only getting 2 mags of shots.
My ocd's wishing that bottle was 1" longer.

Good on ya. I always welcome safety conversation. 👍. The main door to my office is a keypad. I always shut and lock it when I’m shooting. The door you see open goes from my locked office to my gun lab.
@@HoldOverVlog You do have one layer there, good thinking exercise to assess fail-safe vs safely fail we are only human and assumptions can be fatal. Plus weird things can happen when you're tinkering and adjusting.
