In this video i will show you how i mix a diy penetrating oil. It is a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF, any brand will be just fine. For me it worked better than any other penetrating oil that i got from the store.

I was trying to get the breech plug out of a muzzleloader and having no luck. I was pouring this down the barrel and letting it sit overnight. The next morning I couldn't budge it. This went on for a while. Then one day I mixed up a new batch and poured it in. I went straight to the vise and in less than a minute I had it out. I guess it doesn't need to sit and soak.

clasică rețeta, eu mai foloseam un mix de diluant D509, D810sau D551 similar cu White spirit amestecat cu ulei de transmisie sau ulei mineral
se poate chiar si vegetal dar sintetic e mai bun

I wonder if it would hurt the bluing on a rifle barrel. Or a synthetic stock.

I don’t know what to say about that, maybe the acetone might hurt

Errr, I bought the first ATF I saw. But it's fully synth. Would mineral based ATF also separate?
