- hello everyone! Here is my latest addition to our garden- another song for our "International Artists" playlist. Today i present Prog Rock legends Emerson Lake and Palmer, and their classic song- "Still You Turn Me On", subtitled in english, and with pics of Greg Lake, Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer. The album this song is featured on is called "Brain Salad Surgery". It was the first album i ever bought on vinyl- in 1974 when i was 13 years old....and i still own it thank the lord...lol. Emerson Lake and Palmer's music was an integral part of my teenage years- i loved them very much. One of my best memories is attending their performance at Montreal's Olympic Stadium in 1977- where they played with a 30-piece orchestra in front of about 80,000 fans. Anyway, thought you might find that fun to know. Here are the lyrics to our song for today, re-written for your reading pleasure.
LYRICS
Do you wanna be an angel
Do you wanna be a star
Do you wanna play some magic on my guitar
Do you wanna be a poet
Do you wanna be my string
You could be anything
Do you wanna be the lover of another
Undercover
You could even be the man on the moon
Do you wanna be the player
Do you wanna be the string
Let me tell you something
It just don't mean a thing
You see it really doesn't matter
When you're buried in disguise
By the dark glass on your eyes
Though your flesh has crystallised
Still.......
You turn me on
Do you wanna be the pillow where i lay my head
Do you wanna be the feathers lying in my bed
Do you wanna be the cover of a magazine
Create a scene
Every day a little sadder, a little madder
Someone get me a ladder
Do you wanna be the singer
Do you wanna be the song
Let me tell you something
You just couldn't be more wrong
You see i really have to tell you
That it all gets so intense
That from my experience
It just doesn't seem to make sense
Still......
You turn me on
Thank you again for taking the time. Hope you enjoyed our latest addition to the garden. I have enough fotos of Mylene's new shows to be able to start an italian translation of "Peut-Etre Toi"......which i hope to upload by the second week of September. That should be the next presentation.......till then, see you next time! Have a wonderful day
Thanks, Peter. When I was 16 years old I listened to music of all kinds, but beyond the classical music that I admired, nothing caught my attention much. Then I heard EL&P, and they caught me and then all the so-called progressive ones today (Yes, King Crimson, ...).
Greetings from México.
it's my pleasure and i am so glad you enjoyed my efforts! Greetings from Canada and thank you for sharing ! it's very cool to say hi to a prog-rock fan from Mexico. que tenga un buen dia franciscodiaz
When i was about 11, i had bought the Partridge Family's album. But my father had accidentally bought "Abraxas" by Santana and "Led Zeppelin 4". He thought Santana would be latin music...what a surprise...ha ha. It was even worse with led zeppelin. Because of the cover of the old man with the sticks on his back, he thought it was an album of italian songs. Anyway, so those were my first 3 albums, cause i took ownership the two my dad didn't listen to. But the first 3 albums i bought with my own money were "Brain Salad Surgery", "Billion Dollar Babies" by Alice Cooper, and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John. Oui, ce n'est pas surprenant que cette chanson de ELP est moins connue que "C'est la Vie", "Lucky Man" et "From the Beginning"...all great songs...but hey?...you knew Genesis before i did. I discovered them much later
