So, is there anyone out there who hates film looks? 🤔 It's totally OK if you do! Just curious 🧐😉
With a bloody passion
I have always tried to get the film look. Now it will be easy
I hate Film Looks to the Core, Fact is it's save time but kills your creativity and you loss your control overs colors
I don’t like ‘badly done’ film look. When halation & colour burn are overused.
But a well done film look is just 🥰 Lomochrome 92 possessed me the first time I saw it.
I think Davinci Resolve in the king of Video Editing Software. Move from Premiere Pro and After Effect and Photo Shop. Now I use Davinci Resolve, Affinity Photo and Luminar Neo. Adobe was like a leech on me. For some strange reason just disliked editing in Adobe Premiere. The UI in Adobe was annoying and the crashes were bad.
Absolutely agree with this one. I moved completely to resolve in January 2023 and never looked back at Adobe's crashing softwares.
Guys im good at ae and love it but i hate premier and also the pricing of adobe products here is something huge what are you guys saying can i do everything i do on ae in fusion or should i keep using ae and move to dr and find a workflow for graphics?
@@Stefin808 node based editing is where its at. Its hard to learn once you learn it most VFX is node based editing and its more clear once you get it.
I always found layer based editing bit annoying because of screen real estate.
@@SeshanDecodesany courses you suggest for learning fusion?
It was a lot of fun to watch!!! Excited to try them out
An absolute enrichment for Version 19. It's even more enjoyable now. Thanks for the video. 😎
It is an awesome new tool, thanks for demonstrating it!!
Everyone always (as far as I’ve seen lessons on “film” grading) begins to fill the entire picture with grain. Because of this, she often ends up in a mess. But, if we remember the nature of the film grain, it does not appear entirely uniformly due to the difference in the received light and chemical processes. I don’t know if anyone does this or not, but I use this approach: I put grain, but in the same node I cut off the dark areas in luminance in the qualifier and smooth out the transition (by eye) Voila, the grain is distributed along the brightness scale and in the dark areas are clean.
"Saturation balance adjusts how changes in color richness (saturation) affect the brightness balance in colors that are not too dull or too vibrant."
In simpler terms, it's about how making colors richer or less rich affects how bright they look, but only for colors that aren't super dull or super vibrant.
RIP Dehancer
Yes 💯 agreed.....new colour slice tool is great ...I just use it in my letest video and it make colour grading and playing with colours much easier....just love it ❤
Awesome Job Explaining! I'm Fairly New to DaVinci Resolve and for the short time I've been using it I love it! The color grading is an upgrade from After Effects, I can't wait to learn more!
Awesome as always, Joris 🙏🤘
Great! I love the new Davinci tool!!!
Great tool. Makes the new Micro Color Panel look like a "must have". Or at least want!
The saturation balance in my opinion from the description and the actual testing of it - is like tone mapping the saturation to smoothly transition between the darker, or lighter differences in the subtractive luminance.
So if you have added density - it's like applying a curve to gently transition from the darkening of the saturation to the lighter, by basically adding a subtle bell curve from dark to mid. And the same if you decrease the density.
It is of course optional for people to choose how they want the saturation to look like.
The reason that it appears to do little in your example above is that you don't have a high contrast in your frame.
A harsh lighting scenario, you might be able to see the effect of that setting easier.
Good explanation on the Film Look Creator - In my opinion Resolve should have the ability to save your own "Creations" and add it to a drop down to quickly pick past presets. But until then for others, a lot of colourists will develop a look ( like you did here ) and then grab a still and name it - for use in a powergrade or to append on any clip without having to rebuild from scratch every time.
Anyway a really good introduction to this new OFX, not sure why people are not combining the film stock LUT with this. I think Resolve could add that in as well. Maybe they will down the road. another drop down with the stock would then be comparable to other film emulation plug-ins.
i assume this is correct, since applying tetra or other similar effects only affect colors in a very non smooth way
Grazie per questo video, sempre bravissimo 😉
Great tutorial Joris. I will wait for the DR 19 official release. I have to sit on my hands though, as am itching to use the new features 🙂
Very Amazing !!!!
film node is dope ! thanks for let us know
Just downloaded DaVinci Resolve few months ago. It’s dope.
For a second, I thought you were Peter McKinnon lol.
This is pretty exciting news. It's getting close to exactly what I asked for years ago.... Adobe Lightroom built into DaVinci Resolve! I'm so proficient at ligthroom at this point, and I love how it's all in one place. It looks like DaVinci is finally taking that clue and running with it. This is fantastic!
definitely gives me a very good reason to upgrade to studio...
Excellent!
Good to know. Thanks. A lot of that I'll not want to use, however. Guess I'm more of a documentary {basic, leaning toward 'video' vs. 'film-look"} type. 👀
Super lesson❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can you do a how to use nodes in davinchi resolve
Would have loved to see you over lay a film over an old vintage tv using the film look effect inc
Hey, cool video, thanks a lot man! Going def for resolve 19 studio now. Film look creator is what i'm waiting for 😅 I noticed it's using D65 output white point! Is this also the case for bmpcc 6k pro?
Fire
what text do you use to get that text effect in your videos?
The only thing I am confused about is you mention SLOG 3 and cine, I can't find that setting on my BM 4K pocket cinema so not sure what setting to use. I have mine set to BRAW but can't find the other settings
Great vid as always! Any idea if Film Look Creator will work with standard iPhone video? Or is it focused only in log format? Thanks so much!
Works with any footage
I'm definitely using davinci, since I have using Adobe premiere and has tons of bugs. I do love if this beta has more film color like Dehancer. Huge thanks for the developer
Bro without sounding like a fanboy. Adobe hasn't crashed in years. Only issue I find with Adobe is when it comes to playing on timeline with effects or 10 bit slog etc. (Use m2 max btw)
If we already have paid for the studio version, will we be able to get this for no additional charge?
Should be, yes.
When do YOU expect the black magic summer sale to start? I can't wait for a nice studio deal 😅
Gracias!! hey, it will be nice to know, the setting you're using for your YT videos, once again, muchas gracias.
Do you mean for my studio shots?
@@JorisHermans For anything You Tube, like the videos that you're uploading.
I was thinking about buying Dehancer but for $500 I’ll probably stick with this new tool.
nice.
is there an update on the keyframe system?
de mannen van blackmagic design snappen ook wel echt wa we als filmmakers nodig hebben
een van de grootste redenen waarom ik overschakelde van premiere pro naar davinci resolve 💯
The saturation thing is just royal blue (highs) vs navy blue (mediums)
I just upgraded from the free version of DaVinci Resolve to DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.6.6 in order to find the Film Look Creator shown in this video. But I dont have the "Resolve FX Film Emulation" in the libary and therefore not the "Film Look Creator" neither. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
It's a new feature in version 19 but it's still in beta so it won't update automatically. You have to go to their website and download and install it manually. However, if you have active projects, I would wait or make sure to back up everything... 🫡💯
what titel do you use
Would you say it’s worth upgrading from DaVinci 18?
You have an active work project? No
You are free and want to have fun? Yes, time to download it
👆🏻 This.
What software do you use for this please?
DaVinci Resolve
ik ben benieuwd, ff wachten nog.....
Can I edit videos like VOX & Magnet media in DAVINCI RESOLVE FREE version in 720p-1080p level using this PC specs
Rygen 5 5600 (6 cores/12 Thread)
RX 580 (8GB)
16 GB Ram DDR4
Please suggest me to optimize DAVINCI to run faster in this specs because i love to edit videos in DAVINCI RESOLVE ❤😊
Put the files on an nvme/SSD and enable smart cache. Then you can change the resolution for smooth playback
Updating to davinci resolve studio
From what I understood about Saturation Balance, it's just a tool favouring either luminance or saturation affecting the OVERALL image. Leaning more towards one side will give you more luminance less saturation/less luminance more saturation.
For those who edits their photo in Lightroom, it is a similar function to the 'Balance' slider under the Color Grading section where it favours the tone of either the shadows or the highlights.
Hi, i am not getting everybody is talking about DAVINCHI 19 but i cannot update it doesn't give me that 19 update still 18.6🤔🤨
It's still in beta version. You have to go to the website and manually download and install it.
@@JorisHermans What website?
In color … it sometimes keep crashing on me
I make my Own Music ❤
we also didn't understand the saturation balance
