  • 1/2 Cup Dal and 1/2 Raw Banana: A Tasty Side Dish Recipe for Rice or Roti | Raw Banana Recipe
The dish Dal and Raw Banana is a tasty side dish that can complement both rice and roti. It combines the nutritional goodness of dal (lentils) with the unique flavor and texture of raw bananas. The dal and raw banana are cooked together with your favorite spices to create a flavorful and nutritious side dish.
    🥣Ingredients:
    For pressure cooking:
1/2 cup split pigeon peas (toor dal), rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
1/2 raw plantain, peeled and chopped into small cubes
    1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp chili powder
    3/4 tsp Salt
    2 cup Water
    For Raw banana daal:
    Cooked dal and raw banana
    1 onion, finely chopped
    1 tomato, chopped
    1 green chili, slit lengthwise
    2 Garlic cloves chopped
    8 -10 curry leaves
    Pinch of Asafetida
    1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
    1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
    Salt to taste
    1 tablespoon oil or ghee
    Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
    Cooking tips:
❗You can use mixed dal in place of toor dal.
❗Feel free to add your favorite spices such as coriander powder, garam masala, etc., to achieve your desired flavor.
❗Adjust the quantity of raw banana in your dal curry as needed; add more or less according to your preference.
❗Cut the banana just before cooking. If you need to store the cut banana for an extended period, transfer it to plain water or lemon water to prevent discoloration of the skin.
❗Ensure the dal has a medium-thick consistency to enhance the flavor to the fullest.

    Very interesting and simple recipe.
I love raw banana dishes but have never cooked it with dal. Will certainly make this. But I probably will cook dal separately and fry the raw bananas a little with onion etc and add the dal, as I don't know how the raw banana will hold up to pressure cooking.
Thank you for the recipe and a nice video.

You're welcome😊. Cooking the dal separately and then adding the fried raw bananas with onions sounds like a great idea😊. It should give you more control over the texture of the raw bananas and ensure they don't get overcooked😊.
