- Sony FDR AX53 vs Panasonic HC-VXF1 4K Camcorder (Test footage)
I had this comparistion video on the works and this was the test file, but my computer got corrupted and the working file was lost and i couldnt finish the project.
But i think it will be helpfull for many people out there, because it covers a lot of situations with examples :)Missing night shoots :(
In the end i prefer the Sony just because of stabilization, but the visual quality of the Panasonic Really impressed me
Wonderful comparison, very informative, thanks. Panasonic shows the air between objects, and the images of Sony brighter, but they lose a little in their naturalness, in my opinion.
You are totally correct. I love panasonic also...I use for sony Canon Lenses
Very nice comparison video. It's hard for me to decide. Tell me. In your opinion, which camera captures good sound without an additional microphone?😊
It was a toss up for me between these two before I ended up getting the Panasonic. In the end, it just really kept producing consistently good image quality and the image stabilization was great.
Me too HC-VX981 4K . both are same with minor diff. in design. VX981 has bigger sensor than VXF1 or Sony Ax53
Sony colder and often burning highlights. Panasonic warmer and better in highlights. Better precision, better focus !
Panasonic win
i have owned both the AX700 and AX53. Both sold as they disappointed me due to the moire patterns when filming scene with lots tree or bushes. I used large sensor cameras normally which down sample to 4k so never see this problem. My question is 1) did you notice any moire on the AX53 or VXF1 2) if you did was one better than the other?
HELLO. I finally purchased the Panasonic VX1 4K Ultra HD Camcorder (HC-VX1EG-K). My first impressions are that the zoom performance and daytime shots are very good. However, night shooting doesn't seem to meet my expectations. In some comments, it was said that this camera has the feature of pausing and resuming the video without stopping. But I couldn't do it anyway. I need information on how it is done.
is it true that Pansonic in auto mode the camera changes the shutter speed to even 1/1500 on a sunny day?
They are both good, but I thought the Sony had a slightly warmer colour balance in certain lighting conditions. The Panasonic looks a bit bit cool, especially the green colours. Can this be adjusted in camera?
I agree. Did the Panasonic seem a little more clear to you? Trying to decide between the 2 and it's so incredibly difficult.
I've had both brands and my opinion is Sony AX53 > Panasonic HC-VXF1 and the Sony AX100 > Pansonic HC-X1500. The panasonic image quality looks as bad as a 4k smartphone in my opinion. Most likely due to the small sensor size. Sony seems crisper and more detailed.
It's also my favourite 🙏
hello, so which camera is better for bird recording?
Which would you choose? I'm still a little undecided. Some scenes the panasonic winds in colour accurancy, but then the Sony wins in detail. (Watching on a 4K HDR display).
It is funny how the sony ax53 went up in price in the last couple of years. I bought the camera twice, once it broke, just a little bit of water splash and gone and once somebody stole it. Once i payed 500 and the second time 450 pounds. If you want to buy it now it costs 700, if you can find one. At the moment i am not sure which one to buy, i am looking to any options, this Panasonic, any Panasonic or Sony AX700. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for the video.
Yes I guess they never made camcorder as practical and good as this one at the price range. Those options are good but the Sony Ax 700 is a Beast...to expensive for me but in the wish list 😋
@@BoomerStories kind for me too and considering that i lost 2, maybe it is not worth investing. Plus it is almost double the weight and size
@@Travel_addict_81 yes it's not as practical, but if you like editing videos don't lose the passion, just take care and try not to lose another 😋 In this respect I only crashed drones, and that is expensive and very sad also😁🙃
It's surprising how good these Sony video cameras hold their prices, a lot better than mirrorless or DSLR cameras.
Walks around with the panny not the sony ,,the panny seems more microphone sensitive but wat too much wind noise ,still the best comparasin video ,would just like too see stabilizaton comparison.
I must admit that I find this footage a bit disturbing - 95% is zooming while standing still - the rest is walking around a motive. But... you literally filmed not once while you were walking normal just ahead. Like... you know... walking ;) - and not zoom but slightly move the cam around for the surrounding while you are walking/wandering.
For me this is one of the most interesting usage for the stabilisator... and there is just no example there to make the comparison. How sad.
But anyway - thanks a lot.
Agree, and this is somehow kinda incomplete i didnt finish what wanted to show due to time limitations and other projects but had some work done so i shared it as is.
On the topic of stabilization, it has amazing stabilization much better than the latest phones, but when walking, running the footage is almost never usable for movie or documentaries or reviews.
The FDR ax53 has this eletrocnic stabilization plus gimbal like tech, but in reality it helps to smoth normal movemnts and produce really cool paning or stabilized shoots...when runing or walking you will feel it doing a great job but the shoot will never be a great gimbal like scene.
If you need some foothage of me runing or walking i can send you a small clip ;)
@@BoomerStories Wow - thanks a lot for your reply. Footage not really necessary, cause I probably will go for a gimble anyway.
Plan is to make a lot relaxation videos and therefor also long walking videos. Although there are a lot of those on youtube there are some types that are not - so hopefully I will do those :)
But my last intense work with camcorder/videocamera is more than 10 years ago. In the end I probably gonna leave exact this price range aside and start with a cheaper one and when everythings turn out as I want it I am going to buy a better 1000-1500$ Camcorder.
Anyway - thanks again for reply, the offer and the explanation - and all the best for you :)
+1. I find it frustrating with photographers handling cameras as if they were spraypainting. Or zooming back and forth. This one were ok, though.
And yes, the stabilization of Sony ax53 is outstanding.
I see the Panni being sharper and agree with others, better in low light. The Sony is warmer for sure, but those super bright scenes can always look warmer with an ND filter on the Panni. I will say the Panni's mic was surprisingly better than the Sony's. I wasn't expecting that. Using a pro mic on the shoe is obviously preferred, but very nice for the built-in mic. Those optical zooms are amazing for both cams! Thank you for uploading this work as it helped me solidify my choice to buy the Panni.
Hello. I bought vx1. I haven't inserted an SD card and started using it yet. I purchased the SanDisk Ultra SSDDUNR-128G-GN3IN Class 10 UHS-I U1 128 GB Memory Card. I haven't taken the card out of the box yet. Did I buy the wrong card for this camera? Will this card cause problems with 4k videos? 128 GB which plus do you recommend is compatible with this machine?
Excellent comparison. Very useful.....personaly I got my choice.
Thanks for the video. How good are both cameras in DIGITAL ZOOM? Is that fact that they are 4k helped to get a better digital zoom vs a HD camcorder?
In 4k there is not as much Zoom as in 1080P...but having a 4k sensor alows for much greater zoom in 1080p as well as better stabilizations when zooming..its much easier to zoom in the sony because the stabilization on the camera is simply incredible. (Digital + Gimbal )
Hey can I ask what format did you use? In panasonic. 4k mp4, or full hd avchd? Liked panasonic more overall plus low light benefits of it. Bought it.
In these footage mostly 1080p, there might be some 4k but the render of the file was in 1080p. I used best recording settings for each recording, sony also uses some old format that i never chose. Yes the panasonic is much better in low light conditions.
@@BoomerStories Thank you! How did you do this cinematic look, frames? is it able to be selected in camera or when editing with computer?
@@markushallikainen3739 Just added PNG file with borders, its a simple procedure ;)
Hi, thank you very much for your video! Did you use any hand- stabilizers? How do I know which scenes you used Sony and which footage you filmed by Panasonic?
In the right lower corner you see the picture of either camera with which the short clip has been filmed… in higher resolution you should be able to see the difference between the Sony and the Panasonic camera.
I'm between those two cameras but still can't decide.
Same here. The slightly wider view of the Panasonic appeals to me.
I had both and eneded up selling the panasonic, they where both similar but ultimatly i prefer the sony, but the panasonic on some aspects where better but it weasnt wise to keep both ;)
I know, it's so difficult. 🤦🏻♂️ To make matters worse, I'm trying to decide between these two as well as the
Whats wrong keeping both camcorder? I think its better if you have these 2..just asking
this camera its better than Panasonic HC-VX980EG-K?
22:30 cat :-)
I couldnt really figure out from the picture in the bottom corner what was what... But I preferred the 2nd recording most of the time, im guessing it was the Panasonic?
Yes ;) But the video is going to be in full hd and you tube processing hasnt updated , then i think it will be noticable.
Its the Camera used for that video part. When see bigger 4K its SONY, other one is Panasonic 4K . Hope it helps
muchas gracias :)
Panasonic feels much better but sony is a bit cheaper
The Sony is actually more expensive.
Which one produces more nose during stabilization ?
Beautiful locations. Where did you film it?
Northern Portugal - Gondomar/Canedo :)
@@BoomerStories Really great 👍
Which one has full manual control?
The panna as more control over iso/exp/aperture.
Hello, do you have video Full HD 60fps. I want to buy Sony FDR-AX53
No this was just a test preview, but my pc broke and i lost the file project. But my FDR-AX53 only records in 50 fps max, because its the EU version(pal). In the EUA its 60 ;) The FDR AX-53 is a great piece of equipment, its a good choice :)
@@BoomerStories Hello, yes I know that for EU is 50fps. I found later while searching info about this camera. I think that it is not good that they sell PAL 50fps and NTSC 60fps
Лайк за котика😊
do these have full manual controls?
The Sony is Not full manual , the Panna yes ;)
AX53
Panasonic es malísima con su enfoque de contraste, yo la tuve me dio muchos problemas , la sony es mejor, cambie a Ax700 y es increíble.
Does the Ax700 has similar stabillization as the Sony AX53 ?
А где речь???
What do you mean ?
It's hard to tell for sure, but I think he's saying something about a raped ape...
