  • KDKA's Patrice King Brown and Ken Rice take a look back at various events that were held at Three Rivers Stadium. This special aired on February 10, 2001 the evening before the stadium was imploded. The section on the Steelers history and the clips during Dave Crawley's closing segment have been removed due to copyright strikes from the NFL.

This upcoming February will mark the 20th anniversary of the implosion. I’m still finding it hard to believe that it’s been that long.

That should have never happened too. I loved Three Rivers Stadium. I never been to those fancy corporate places they just had to build. Nor will I ever... football and baseball... the games themselves... have changed with these new fancy stadiums.
The stadium itself adds character to the games that played there, and the coliseum style football / baseball compatible stadiums all did that. I always thought it was the coolest thing to watch football games that were grass and you could see the baseball infield stretching from a corner of an end zone to about tie 35 yard line

@@jackmomma7481you can’t stop change, no matter how much you want to. Granted, they could’ve kept Three Rivers Stadium as the home of the Steelers, even with the construction of PNC Park.

Our two emergency numbers (211 and 911) were choreograped in 2001...First was the demolition of Three Rivers Stadium (on 211, 2001), then the demolition of the WTC (on 911, 2001)...The first official football game at Heinz Field was played on 9/01/01 (with no mention of the game, on CZcams).

Does any of the news networks have coverage of the world premiere of Disney’s “Angels in the Outfield” at Three Rivers Stadium in July of 1994?

If my memory is accurate, ESPN broadcast a special tribute to Three Rivers Stadium. One of the hosts was Rocky Bleier.

McClatchy was nowhere near as bad as the Nuttings. I'm shocked by how recently this comment was made.
