good job I loved the review
Lenovo why 16ınch broooo. Everything is perfect but whyyy 16. You must make 17.3 pleaseee
What, why? 16.1 and 15.6 inch is in my opinion the best size for a laptop. And 14 or down is good if you don't game. 17 and 18 inch laptops are good screen wise but they are too big to carry around. The only instance i can recommend a 17 or 18 inch laptop is if you don't have much desk space and want to replace your desktop other than that 15.6 or 16.1 is a good middle ground
@@Zee_Kay_Jay
Your opinion is based on very limited of any experience with a 17 inch laptop, the screen size is simply unmatched specially with 1440p
@@SMGJohn Not really, if you really want a good screen get a 24 or 27 inch monitor with whatever resolution you want instead lmao. How 17 inch is unmatched is beyond me. Plus 24 or 27 inch are better for gaming. And i need to add 16 inch and 17 inch has a very little difference screen size wise and 16 is more portable even tho the screen size is nearly the same
@@Zee_Kay_Jay
Thats odd considering I have 15.6" and 16" with a 17.3" even a 18.4" and the 16" is simply just 15.6" but an extra 0.4 inch at the bottom lip so the screen is more square.
Whereas 17.3" is not only taller, its FAR wider as well, 1440p is unusable on a 16 inch screen whereas on a 17.3" screen you can at least read the text from a metre distance without using a magnifying glass, soon as you turn on scaling in Windows, all your resolution benefits are gone, the entire point of higher res is to increase working space on a desktop.
18.4" is even bigger but the difference between a 17.3 and a 18.4 is indeed not that great when you view them side by side, its a much smaller difference then 16 inch.
Also the entire point of a laptop is to bring it with you to places, if you already have a 21+ inch monitor, why are you even wasting money on a laptop???
17.3" is simply superior if you want QHD / 1440p, you can do 125% windows scaling and still enjoy good screen real estate without squinting your eyes, in fact you say 16 inch is more portable is a lie, my Alienware from 2011 is so massive your 16 inch looks like a smartphone by comparison, modern 17.3" laptops are tiny compared to the 17 inch of the olden days, in fact they are more like the old 15.6" sized laptops, Dell even makes a XPS thats worlds smallest 17 inch laptop, its smaller than a lot of modern 15.6" laptops, just think about that for a second, a larger screen in a laptop smaller than most gaming 15.6" machines.
@@Zee_Kay_Jaywhy do you assume that people who gets 17 inch laptops cares about portability? Besides, larger screens helps a lot with graphic design work
Thank you for your video, I’m going to buy the Legion 5 17
I like them both, but I much prefer the new hinge design on the 5 Pro 16. Never liked the old design. Nice reviews.
Thanks! Agreed
great video.
i'm currently torn between the two models. I would deffinetly appreciate a 17 inch screen a lot, however i'd like to ask you if the 5 pro is any better regarding fan noise and speakers quality. Thanks. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas! Man it’s a tough call between them. The 17” has more room for cooling, and Lenovo took advantage of that. Speakers are about the same, from memory.
@@TechAdventure1
Appreciated, you're great. Subed.
@@TechAdventure1
Also f*** it, I'm going for the 5pro. An extra inch is no good compared to an all around better display and build.
😂😂😂 brother you’re going to love the 5 Pro. It’s so good. I have the ‘21 model and love it.
So which one is better for playing ultra in witcher? I still cant decide between 16' inch one and 17' inch one. Both of them (in my country) have rtx 3070, just the different inches... Which one to pick ?
Hey bro, good comparison btw. I have a question that i want a Legion 5 Pro but in my area I'm able to find only the RTX 3060 variant. And I'm in a urgent need so can I go for it? Or is there is very big difference in performance between the RTX 3060 and RTX 3070 or the RTX 3060 will work just fine.
And also one more question, if I go for RTX 3060 then how many years will it last probably before it gets outdated?
Thanks in Advance
Love your videos
Hey brother, thank you for the compliment! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos - I’ll be sure to keep them up. So the 3060 is a solid card. In on a laptop like this with good cooling you may appreciate the lower temperatures and potentially quieter fans than on the 3070. But the 3070 will absolutely give you better performance in games. It does matter what type of games you play. Are they shooters, RPG‘s, strategy games etc. Because if you prefer visual fidelity over a frame rates and that may influence how much money you spend and it will also influence the answer to your last question about longevity of these devices. With any gaming laptop there’s always going to be a small level of difference between what they’re rated to do and what they actually do. So watch as many reviews as you can before the tipping point and you have to buy a laptop.
Expect 5-6 years for a solid gaming laptop that you treat well. Open it up every month and blow the dust out.
@@TechAdventure1 thanks bro I'll keep in mind your advice.
Isn't one of the USB-C also a display port? So you can connect a display port monitor to it with adapter?
Quick help
I got my Legion 5 17' and I can't really change the framerate to 60hz. Even after updating everything still just can't and nor is there any option in system settings, it's just 144hz.
Why is this?
I also read someone wrote only pro has that option but your vid proves otherwise.
The Y symbol is absolutely amazing and unique for me! I wish Lenovo keeps making another gaming laptop with that in the future.
Yeah it’s cool!
Is display quality noticeably better on pro version?
How is the screen quality of 17inch variant? Is it also 100% srgb? Any difference?
.
Does those laptops has high pitch’s sound on high fans speed
Thanks for the awesome review. Do you think the 17-inch would be too big for a college student? Is it really a pain to carry around?
It’s kinda big but totally up to you. 16” is a good compromise.
I walked around with a 17 inch laptop all 4 years of college and it was burdensome. It made my bag weigh a lot more. That being said when i realized a 15 inch or smaller laptop meant i wouldn't have watched those movies on as big of a screen as i had i was happy i had the 17 inch. I would just be more mindful of carrying a big laptop for long college days and leaving it in a my car under the shade of a tree or something. If I dormed instead of commuted i would definitely get the 17 inch.
Is the Lenovo legion 5 with the 300 nits QHD panel worth buying?
if it’s the model with the 3060 id say no because a lot of games wouldn’t be able to game that high at 100+ fps
Hi, I just found your channel and saw your review but I still have doubts... I can't decide. But I have three questions if you can help me:
- Is it worth to change the RAM? I don't know if I'm gonna feel the difference or if it's very noticeable.
- Talking about the RAM, Jarrod used the CT8G4SFS832A and you used CT2K8G4SFRA32A. Are they the same? I don't have any idea about this.
- Is it worth upgrading from 3060 to 3070 for 300$ extra? Or the difference, again, it's not very substancial?
Thanks!
Hey there thanks for watching. It is worth it to upgrade the ram. Although you may end up with a unit that has perfectly fine ram. If you do upgrade the RAM you'll be happy with the module I purchased or Jarrod. But I would lean more on his expertise.
Regarding the gpu, if it were my money I would do it. But of course I don't know your financial situation or the types of games that you play. But if resale value matters to you, then the 3070 is best
kinda weird question , does all brands of legion 5 have Ethernet port on them ? and also are there G-Sync option on the 17.3 size variant ?
The slim model does not have ethernet. And I do believe she sink is on the 17 inch.
@@TechAdventure1 Thanks 🙏 I just saw this 17.3 model on micro center and I was planning to buy it so I ask the best tech CZcamsr for the guidance ❤️
Oh man I'm nowhere near that level! Too kind. Double check the spec list before you buy it.
There are many stories going around that the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro can sometimes have problems with bars and that this causes a lot of irritation or is this information incorrect? (btw i’m from the Netherlands sorry for my bad english)
@@TechAdventure1 Aha oke erg bedankt!!!
Sir, urgent question ? Is the keyboard of the 17" RGB ? Or its just white ?
just white
Hi, new sub here. Just found your channel. I'm going for the Legion 7i loaded. Should I wait a bit for newer specs to come out or go ahead and get the 7i now? Website says 2+ months leadtime. I'm not sure if I should wait or pull the trigger. TIA
Thanks for subbing! Man it's so hard to tell someone to wait, but, I would. The 12th gen models will drop soon. That'll drive prices down further, but there may not be inventory of this model.
2 months is a long time to wait. And 2+ could mean 3...4...etc. Yikes. You're in a tough spot.
@@TechAdventure1 Thanks for responding. Yeah I'm hesitant to place an order and before it gets here have a better spec unit come out. I would go for a 12th gen model. Any thoughts on when new machines may come out?
I think they said April. I'll ask for ya
@@TechAdventure1 thanks very much. Look forward to hearing from ya. I just found a unit that ships Feb 5th
Part Number 82K6005SUS its the $3.5k unit
Great vid, keep up the work! so i have been thinking for a while and i cant choose gaming laptops im between couple laptops for which is the best so the games that i play the most is csgo or Valorant but especially Valorant because i love it and im having so much fun playing it so my question is that ,which laptop should i buy "Legion 5 Ryzen 7 5800H, RAM 16GB, 1TB SSD, RTX 3070 8GB, 17.3 FHD 144Hz" OR "Legion 5 Pro , Core i7-11800H, RAM 32GB, SSD 1TB, RTX 3060 6GB, 16.0 2K 165Hz" Which do you think would be the best for games like Valorant, how much fps would i get by playing it with full Res and Graphics? I'm a full time Valorant player so i want to buy a good gaming laptop for Playing online fps shooters games such as Apex legends, Csgo, Warzone and especially and mostly Valorant so if u can give me advice for buying which Gaming laptop i would really be happy! i will be waiting for your response :))
Thanks! I don’t play competitive shooters but I think if you have the budget get the AMD / 3070 laptop. Personally 144 vs 165 Hz is not perceivable.
@@TechAdventure1 they are both almost same price in here its about almost 1600$ only 50-75$ between them and what about the Ram legion 5 has 16 and pro has 32 but with 3060 will i get good performance if u buy Legion 5 Ryzen 7 5800H, RAM 16GB, 1TB SSD, RTX 3070 8GB, 17.3 FHD 144Hz
For gaming you won’t see a difference between 16 and 32. And you can upgrade the 16 to 32 if you want.
@@TechAdventure1 hmm ok so you ur saying 5800h with 3070 and 144hz?
That’s the one I have and I love it
All that i wanted was the laptops side by side , to see both screens xd , good review but for me that was the most important thing
Nobody wants to see me. Only the laptop.
@@TechAdventure1 no i mean , like just both laptops in the table side by side showing games or content
I totally get it. My comment about not seeing me is exactly what I tell myself. I watch other reviews and it’s like 70% the reviewer and the laptop is like occupying 5% of the video and is flat on a table. Need more close ups of these laptops!
@@TechAdventure1 Oh yeah sure although havent seen these ones side by side in any review thats why i was saying
Happy to help!
Wait, the legion 5 has a rtx 3060 with 130w... Why did you write 115w?
130 wats is with dynamic boost
someone please give me advice. i found 3 very good laptops with similar prices and need to choose one. i need it mostly for adobe programs (premiere, photoshop, ilustrator etc..). please say why one of them is better than other. 1. lenovo legion 5 ryzen 7 5800h rtx 3060. msi raider ge76 i7 11800h rtx 3060. msi katana i7 12700h rtx 3050ti. all of them are 17.3 inch and other specs are similar. price is around 1600$. this is very important choice for me and need some pro suggestion.
Lenovo legion 5 ryzen 7 5800h rtx 3060, is going to top all of the others you mentioned, because it simply just offers more value for its price point. It has a rtx 3060 which is perfect for all your photoshop programs and illustrations, it’s going to allow you to see your things in great detail and your going to appreciate how top tier the graphics are. The legion also has 5800h which is hands down better than a 11800h because the 5800h has around 39% faster CPU speed, offers a little bit of more ram than the 11800h and it is more energy efficient, meaning less wattage is used to run it. Battery life is also not going to be a problem. The legion is a beast and will definitely handle anything you throw at it, Lenovo is also more business oriented more so than the other gaming company’s. So they would definitely understand to put specs inside of there computers for people like you with your needs needing to be met. Overall I would say go with the Lenovo legion 5 ryzen 7 5800 rtx 3060 bro.
my question is:
Is it profitable to pay $200 more for a legion 7 that has the same specifications as a legion 5 pro? They both have ryzen 7 and rtx 3070.
Legion 5 pro costs $1677
Legion 7 costs $1876
Please explain what you mean by "profitable"
I am thinking between Dell G15 5700U 3060 15.6" 1 TB and Legion G5 5600H 3060 17.3" 512 GB. The price is the same. Help?
I haven’t used a dell laptop in over 10 years. Sorry but I can’t help.
Should I buy lenovo legion 5 with rtx 3070 or legion 5 Pro with rtx 3060 but it come with the 2k screen?
Both are same price and I can't afford buying the lenovo legion 5 pro with rtx 3070.
I'd personally choose the one with rtx 3070 without the 2k resolution. You can't really tell the difference with a 16" screen unless you really look for it.
@@CallmeDaddy21 hey man saw your comment was recent and wanted to ask do you know what wattage the gpu is for the legion 5 with rtx 3070? Not the pro model
@@thatdogeguy9108 it's 130 watts. 10 less than the Legion 5 pro, but you'll hardly notice a difference in performance.
@@thatdogeguy9108 my bad, it's actually 140 watts.
@@CallmeDaddy21 thank you it's weird they don't state that on the Lenovo website I ordered the legion 5 17in rtx 3070 and they never mentioned the wattage and thanks for the quick reply
For gaming only what it's better 5 pro 3070 or 5 non pro 17.3 3070, having in mind that QHD drain more battery, and my real question is, can you really appreciate qhd screen on 16' screen in games? Looks like would be the same as 1080 but with worst performance and less battery life when talk about gaming. Please help me with that inquiry
Hi, you can definitely appreciate QHD on a 16". Now the difference in performance between the 5 Pro and 17 is not too different. Mostly about form factor and appearance.
@@TechAdventure1 thank you very much for your quick answer, I was worried about getting qhd laptop and won't be able to appreciate it on 16 inch when play games, so above that do you have any issue gaming on 16:10 ratio, I read some reviews saying that can't play all games getting black bars on some games, can you please tell me some regarding that?
I think that is correct. I don't game as much as I use to, and every game I've played has support for 16:10. Almost all of the gaming laptops manufactured since 2021 are 16:10. I expect more support to come.
