When Reagan then starts chuffing in the next scene and struggling against the restraints, I mean, its OBVIOUS she's trying to get a piece of stuck food clear of her throat. They should have HELPED her for goodness sake! Instead they stood there reciting stuff as Reagan gets more desperate to dislodge the stuck food, violently shaking the bed, cracking the ceiling, levitating the bed off the floor. I did that recently. It's cartoonish looking like 90's Nickelodeon with the vomit, and the movie is vulgar to the point of actual comedy. It's not scary at all, it's just extremely disgusting/funny at the same time.

Especially the "power of christ compels you" scene. What is supposed to be an intense scene became funny due to the endless parodies. Furthermore, the effects (although amazing) are unfortunately a bit dated. The swearing also puts people off a bit too. It sometimes comes off as goofy, whereas a 70's audience was completely caught off guard by the obscene language.
Its certainly up there....seeing their breath, the feeling of dread....just so intense. And I can imagine overwhelming in 1973. This is top grade horror

I was raised catholic and we always said “trespasses”, not debtors. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” is the line. Supposedly there are differences between the Protestant and catholic versions of the Lords Prayer.

I was raised catholic and we always said “trespasses”, not debtors. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” is the line. Supposedly there are differences between the Protestant and catholic versions of the Lords Prayer.
