After I bought this boat I had to get her to Key West! Watch our series of Crossing the Okeechobee Waterway! Click here to watch Part 1: czcams.com/video/X9eXywxQQTc/video.html

I'm not sure I understand this. The conditions (wind) did not feel right for a rigging survey so nothing aloft was checked? When Island Packets are notorious for failing chainplates and mast tangs giving way, leading to mast failures? Why didn't you reschedule the survey, or better yet haul the surveyor up the mast for a quick examination? And did you ever find the problem with the engine? And what was the other "big problem" the surveyor missed? This experience seemed rushed and not very well thought out, but to a lot of buyers the survey is a formality to get out of the way, not a learning experience. A twenty year old IP is due to get her chainplates replaced and more than likely an engine replacement, too, so I hope your offer took those into account.

Surveyors always miss items its just a fact that unless you're willing to pay them to spend an entire day going over your target boat, some items will get missed. It's important that you as the prospective buyer do as much of an inspection as you can prior to bringing in a surveyor. They usually don't do much of the rig if its up, same with the engine. Those are separate surveys.

Again thank you for your opinion. Wow you must really be an expert 🤣. I am aware surveyors miss items, but this survey was botched from the beginning with a lot of mistakes and very expensive items missed that should have been caught...

Please, tell us what the surveyor missed? Chain Plates?
