This is my concept for the Deer Calf, and baby version of Rain Deer that will help players navigate around the Farm Arrays in Rain World. Also includes a new item, the Speared Sporepuff which can allow players to control Deer.

I think it would also make sense if the calves stopped helping you if you hit them with a spear, rather than speeding up like the adults. And maybe even let out a scream of pain upon being hit, and run away. And I think it would also make sense if vultures (or at least king vultures) would be seeing the rain calves as potential prey as well, and the only way to gain back their trust would be to feed them spore puffs. Overall amazing concept, i knew you would always deliver straight BANGERS 🔥🔥🔥

Rain World could use more young variants of creatures, and it's always fun to fanfic. Would be interested in seeing your other ideas. Not sure whether or not to hope they're similar to my own: Paincat and Polipede.

@@Smoldragoncat Polipede: Pole Plant + Centipede. Looks like your average pole plant and disguises like one too, but its petals are actually legs and if you linger around it for too long it'll dislodge itself and a chase you down to take you back to its den by force. Made to reinstill the fear and paranoia veteran players lose once they figure out the spawns.
Paincat: Paincone + Slugcat. In addition to paincone bees ignoring the player, getting a full stomach during hibernation allows the player to turn that extra energy into a pain swarm they can release from their spikey tail, up to a stock of two. This will automatically release predator bites, and the player can restock in the field by eating unactivated paincones. They will also enter the exhaustion state if they enter Spore Puff clouds or swallow them. Basically my OC slugcat as it was the first idea I came up with for a slugcat mod.

I really love how fleshed out this concept is, with all the different mechanics you've thought up it really makes it feel like something that would be added in a DLC or update from the devs

I think the speared sporepuff should be able to be made by hitting a sporepuff with a spear
I recently learned that the direction in which deer move can be controlled. You need to poke the movement buttons in different directions and then they turn around. Without this it would certainly be much more painful.

There is actually an option in the Rainworld remix settings to enable the ability to startle Raindeer by wiggling around to startle them making them start moving or even turn around.
Although I do like cool concepts!

I would like to see anyone pass wormgrass with guiducks, because wormgrass half of time will ignore it and still grab you. Also there is no yeeks in most of slugcats campaigns in farm arrays
quick tip to anyone watching this video(bc for some reason like nobody ive seen has figured this out) but if a raindeer is going the wrong way you can move around a bit on their antlers, like the tutorial says the first time you see them, to "startle" them which makes them go the other way.
This would be an awesome mod, your concepts really well thought out!

The rain deer did get an update to where if you move a lot on it’s antlers while it’s sitting you can make it move
That's ar really cool concept, I always like the raindeer but i have to admit their AI is not great, and this concept really helps fix that. Hope you make more cool videos like this one!

I just use a mod that makes me immune to Wormgrass, that's how useless the Rain Deer are to me.
But if an update or mod were made like this, in a way that would make them actually controllable and useful, I would gladly try it out.

I'm doing doing the same as you! but on a large scale, I was thinking about the world of rain with baby fauna from the game, with the animals, etc, I've already done scavengers, lizards and raindeer, I've been adding things from the real world and mixing it with the rain world, your idea is Great, if I knew how to mod the game, I would have added this idea by now
I am artist, so all i make is concept arts of, i write a little but i like to do the arts
Honestly, I find deer super consistent, throw a spore, then set a spore on the floor, let the deer eat the spore and hop on, then wiggle, and boom, it goes in the right way every time! (I love farm arrays and rain deer, I have a huge bias lol)

This is definitely cooler than just using the Controllable deer mod to get across the grass. (If you grab a deer, you can control it w movement keys, it's on steam.)

I have that mod but
1. this concept is meant to be a way for that control to be in a way that feels natural in the game. Rain World is an immersive sim where the world doesn't revolve around the player, so the deer just being mind-controlled by the slugcat without any motive makes no science in the base game. the mod is meant to be a quality-of-life thing.
2. that mod doesn't have any cute little scrungles
Isnt there an option in the menu to refone deer behavour so that you can spin(while in the antler) in order to make the deer change direction ?

Nice concept, but the spore spears having multiple spore uses is a bit of a balance issue. Players can counter centipedes and red centis VERY easily with this. I’d say the spore puff spear having 1 spore use would be better, as you have to be careful not to waste it and use it wisely on arthropods.
sporepuffs are already used in that exact same way, killing invertebrate creatures. A single sporepuff can already kill a red centi so putting it on the end of a spear doesn't really change that, it would just make the throw go farther and be more precise.

@@ShiansiThe24th they do, just like a normal sporepuff they can call invertebrates and lead rain deer. the difference here is that instead of just attracting rain deer, you can control them with it. and in combat, instead of just being a 1 time use they can be reused a couple of times before breaking. essentially, just an upgraded version of a sporepuff that's rarer

yeah, I think the TTS sounds a bit off, but it's the best I could do, I don't really have a good mic and even If I did I'm not really comfortable with recording my voice for videos rn :)
