  • Recently I have watched Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, a very anticipated sequel to the Planet of the Apes trilogy with Andy Serkis. And while it wasn’t, in my opinion, on the same level as the trilogy about Caesar which I rate among the best and most consistent trilogies of the 21st century, this new film still had many interesting ideas that it explores, performances, CGI and cinematography. One of the core ideas of the film is criticism of organized religion. The story takes place many generations after Caesar's death, we don’t know exactly how much time elapsed, the movie doesn’t tell us, however, we see that vast majority of humanity degraded to primitivism, so it’s safe to assume that a lot of time passed since War for the Planet of the Apes. Caesar has practically become a religious figure in the world of these movies. Very much like Jesus Christ or like Prophet Muhammad, for example. The main antagonist of the film calls himself Proximus Caesar. He uses the words of Caesar about uniting apes for his own personal gain.
