Simple Smokey Eye for Beginners

Hope you all are well :D I hope you all had a happy and safe night last night ringing in the New Year and I wish you all the best for the year coming! I just want to quickly thank each and everyone of you for your continued support over the last year, it doesn't go unnoticed :) I thoroughly enjoy sitting down to read your comments and I cannot wait to see what this year brings ^.^ From the bottom of my heart thanks again, you guys rock! :D
Todays look its pretty self explanatory, its a simple smokey eye that will suit all occasions. Like I said in the video this is the groundwork, you can make this look as simple or as dramatic as you like to suit the occasion. You can build up the intensity of the shadows by repeating the steps outlined in the video or you can add extra steps like liner and lashes to amp up the makeup look for a night time event :)
Either way whatever way you wear it, it'll look fab I promise!
ps: My poor Macbook is on its last legs which is why I haven't been uploading consistently. That, along with the fact that I'm in the middle of my finals at college...pray for me hahaha. Hopefully in the coming few weeks i'll have a new laptop and things will be back to normal!

this is the easiest and simplest smokey eye tutorial I've ever watched. Other smokey eye tutorials uses a ton of different shades of eye shadows that almost look identical to one another that's why you can't even tell the difference when applied. But this! Like, this video got all the basic colors and still looked absolutely great!

I was thinking the exact same thing!
some tutorials say tht when we use the brushes, the way we hold it matters. if we hold closer to the brush then the pressure is higher which means too much colour . we r supposed to hold the brush at the edge so that we have less control on it and we can smudge just a bit easily. thats what i just learnt watching another tutorial. the rest of it, this video is great.
The music is so sooting it almost made me forget that I don't know how to do my eye make-up. :D

this video is honestly the best tutorial. it's simple, relaxing, and clear. the slow pace is perfect and the music is soothing and not over whelming like so many other videos! Also no extra talk and straight to the point. Awesome job
This is far THE BEST smokey tutorial for beginners. No fancy words or fancy materials that only makeup experts know/use. Very flexible, like she uses the bronzer as an eyeshadow. Very few & very simple products used. Soothing voice. It sound like it's just the neighbor girl teaching you how to do makeup. When I started makeup I thought only the high-end ones are what works coy that's what I saw on CZcams. Eventually i realized I was wrong, there's a Lotta just as good products at Walmart too.

Finally I don't look like a zombie like after EVERY smokey eye tutorial! Love it!
I used to have that same problem. I just couldn't make anything work for me, even though I did it just like they suggested. It was from not having the right tools/brushes or using the right brush the wrong way. I finally ordered make up brushes from morphe and focused on crease and blending brushes. Once I had the right brush for the right area it made all the difference in the world and my eyeshadow now always looks like a pro did it. Just keep practicing and trying different brushes until you figure out what works for you.

I love that elf primer she is using! I see a bunch of makeup artists use it for simple eyeshadow. I got it at Walmart for $2 and it works perfect. So if anyone is looking for a good eyeshadow primer get that one!!!
for begginers... and no matter how many times I try using many products, brushes, I end up looking like a 9 yo playing with mamas eyeshadows :( And I am already 20!

ditto!! I takes ages to master it lol. Took me months to master blow drying my hair with a barrell brush! I'm terrible at applying make up!!

I like the tutorial but I'd like to mention that most beginners may have only one random brush, and then maybe 4 colors from white to black and may know nothing about the primer. So for first time beginners this video may look kind of advanced already so for these beginners it's kind of impossible to make because they don't have the necessary tools for it.
The tutorial itself was really good, understandable and relaxing.
I've beginners tutorials already on my channel showing you how to do eye makeup with only one brush, no brushes, and only one eyeshadow. I try my best to produce content that everyone will be able to recreate at home regardless of skill level or products in their possession. I got lost when she said she was adding bronzer to blend the grey with brown. what brown?! I replayed and never saw or heard her add brown.
Sorry completely my fault! I replayed the video there and when I said "I'm taking a touch of that bronzer again and applying it into the crease to ensure you can't see where the grey begins and the brown eyeshadow ends." I used my bronzer as a brown eyeshadow. So I applied the bronzer, followed by the grey eyeshadow and then I was going back in with the bronzer again to make sure the two colours blended nicely together. I hope that clears it up! X
does it still turn out as good if you dont use any kind of primer
kelly brincat It is pretty important to get the true pigment of the shadow and for lasting power. If you don't have primer, use just a dab of concealer or foundation and spread it all over the lid up to the brow bone. I use BB cream - anything creamy or 'oily' helps to make it stick.

I have Grey eyes like hers. When I was a baby my eyes were such dark grey that they looked black. You could barely tell the difference between my pupils and my actual eye color. Everyone called me "alien baby" and laughed it off. They got lighter over time and around when I was 8 they stopped getting lighter. I have the weirdest eyes because when I cry alot or have a bad breakdown my eyes are very green. When I am extremely nervous they look light blue. Whenever I wear something green or blue as a shirt or jacket my eyes appear more green or blue but actually aren't. I don't know else how to describe my eyes... Their.... Quite.... Different.
